It is the ability to channel both into creating products and/or services that customers are willing to pay for that creates jobs. The magical linkage between the two is the ‘market connection’, the engine that drives the economy.

In the last two decades, creative use of technology has generated these market connections in a way no one could have possibly imagined. Economic activity, like traffic on a busy highway, faces bottlenecks that create gridlocks and needs the right triggers to unlock these bottlenecks.

For decades, such bottlenecks had collectively gridlocked India into a ‘middle-income trap’. Getting out of this middle-income trap needed strategic breakthroughs in terms of both technology and policy.

In order for India to mature, the following two goals had to be met:

a) increasing income and consumption; and b) creating items and services that varied customer segments would value at prices that would provide a profit for the producers of these goods and services.

Both would compliment each other and hence were equally important.

In the last two decades, three factors came together that have the potential to help India break out of its middle-income trap: Aadhaar, cellphones, and broadband. While each was remarkable in its own right, the combination would be transformative. The most significant innovations to emerge from this convergence would be online platforms and payments.

The use of online platforms facilitated the finding and matching of demand and supply. Plumbers, for example, can no longer rely on word of mouth to get new customers. Prior to the development of platforms, inefficiencies in matching demand and supply forced consumers to accept subpar services offered by poorly skilled individuals.

While these platforms did not produce a new product or service, they ‘industrialised’ existing ones, and industrialisation enabled seamless consumption while also creating formal mechanisms to increase services and service capabilities. And herein lies the power of ‘debottlenecking’ a severe bottleneck.

This debottlenecking enabled free market forces to take over and establish systemic patterns and scale. By removing a single significant bottleneck, a virtuous cycle of ‘revenue growth’ for service providers is activated, which leads to ‘new consumption,’ which leads to the creation of more goods and service providers.

In a nutshell, these platforms reduced barriers to consumption and production, which is a necessary lubricant for the wheels of economic activity. They also reduced feedback cycles, which are potent triggers in a free market.

Another breakthrough that changed the course of India’s development was online payments. India benefited from the late mover advantage, which was aided by certain astute strategic decisions. This digital infrastructure is basically free and serves as a terrific accelerator of product innovation for tech-savvy entrepreneurs who are familiar with Middle India.

We are at the start of a major wave of innovation, which will primarily affect healthcare, food and agriculture, logistics, and financial services. Each mega-market is set to experience significant upheaval as old barriers to entry crumble, allowing new entrants in. A new generation of startup founders is combining entrepreneurial talents, technological capacity, deep customer insights, and developing new business models to overcome old barriers to reaching and serving hundreds of millions of Indians.

It has compelled irreversible consumer, commercial, and governmental transformations that would have lasted considerably longer and taken an unpredictable path. Regulatory changes that allow cross-state selling of agricultural produce, digital health processes such as video consultation at hospitals, and digital onboarding and streamlining of financial transactions are just a few of the behavioral and regulatory changes that have occurred in recent months.

Despite the best intentions and understanding, digital infrastructure has enabled innovators to construct enterprises that were previously unimaginable. I believe that founders who truly understand the newly emerging consumers from Middle India and can harness technology to provide low-cost solutions through efficient business models may build highly differentiated and scalable enterprises.

Middle India consumes in ‘Chotaa packs’ and purchases from reliable suppliers. A low cost of distribution is required for success in middle India. Chinni Krishnan, a farmer turned entrepreneur from Cuddalore, was the first to truly comprehend the mindset of the Indian consumer and began selling things like shampoo and talcum powder in small sachets. The concept was a big success. He was sure that sachets will be the future after watching people who had never used a product before experiment with it due of the cost of a small pack size. The term’sachet’ is a metaphor for’small pack size’ and a solution to the desires of individuals at the bottom and middle of the pyramid. Trust, cheap customer acquisition and distribution expenses, and a real product that fulfills a real need at an affordable price would be critical to success in middle India.

Wednesday, Shri Ram Janambhoomi Trust General Secretary Champat Rai announced that the Lord Ram idol will be inaugurated at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22 of the following year.

“Leave members of the Shri Ram Janambhoomi Trust and I met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi today.” We extend an invitation to him (Prime Minister Modi) to attend the garbhagriha on January 22 in order to adorn the idol of Lord Ram. We have received his acceptance of our request. January 22 will witness his presence. Champat Rai affirmed that “Pran Pratishtha” will occur on January 22.

Following his meeting with Shri Ram Janambhoomi Trust representatives, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his elation.

Prime Minister Modi stated that he feels fortunate and that it is his good fortune to be present for this momentous occasion.

“Siya Jai Ram!” Today is an emotionally charged day. Recently, representatives from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust visited my home to meet with me. On account of the consecration of the Shri Ram temple, he has extended an invitation for me to visit Ayodhya. Extremely fortunate I feel. “I am fortunate to have the opportunity to witness this momentous occasion during my lifetime,” Prime Minister Modi wrote on X.

It is noteworthy to mention that the resolution of the Ayodhya dispute by the Supreme Court in 2019 cleared the path for the erection of an imposing Ram temple. The Centre appointed the Shri Ram Janma Bhoomi Tirtha Kshetra’ Trust to oversee all decisions pertaining to the construction of a majestic Ram Temple in Ayodhya, in accordance with the ruling of the apex court.

Under the Trust’s careful oversight, the temple’s construction has advanced at a consistent rate. Within the temple’s sanctum sanctorum will be the idol of Ram Lalla.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi ceremoniously unveiled the foundation stone for the Ram Temple on August 5, 2020.

Over a month after the Supreme Court said it couldn’t stop them, the Bihar government released the caste survey data on Monday. The court said that the government couldn’t stop releasing the results of the whole exercise unless there was a clear case of violating a constitutional right or lack of competence.

According to the poll, 36.01% of the people are from the Extremely Backward Classes (EBC), 27.12% are from the Backward Classes, 15.52% are from the Upper Castes, 19.65% are from Scheduled Castes, and 1.68% are from Scheduled Tribes. Out of the people who belong to the Backward Classes, 14.26% are Yadavs, 4.27% are Kushwahas, and 2.87% are Kurmi.

In Bihar last year, the ruling Janata Dal (United) and the Rashtriya Janata Dal led the call for the study. They did this to try to get more reservations for backward classes because the current quotas don’t match the number of people in these groups.

Since then, parties in India, including the Congress, have backed the demand. They hope that a list of castes will be the key to undoing the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) gains in the backward classes and preventing religious divisions before the 2024 national elections.

There were two parts to the survey: from January 7th to 21st and from Aprilth to Augustth. It looked at things like caste, employment, schooling, marital status, land holdings, and property ownership.

In August, chief minister Nitish Kumar said that data from the poll was being analyzed to get a full picture of how different castes are doing in terms of their jobs and money. He made it clear that there was no reason to hold up the process and that the poll was done because it hadn’t been done at the national level before.

In order for the study to be truly national, the opposition group Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) has been calling for it. People in Bihar, India, were angry at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) because the Union government stepped in during the hearing of appeals against the Patna high court’s decision to go ahead with the poll.

The Union government told the Supreme Court in August that the survey has “ramifications.” At the same time, the BJP said it supported the survey and that Bihar’s previous National Democratic Alliance government had approved it before Kumar ended the Janata Dal (United)’s alliance with the BJP last year.

In August, the Supreme Court said that there would be no interim orders or stays on the high court’s decision until it was sure that the study was wrong.

People who signed the petition against the poll said it was too much like a census, which can only be done by the Union government. They also said that asking about caste, religion, and job for the poll violated people’s right to privacy and that there was no way to keep this information safe.

The high court said that the Union government is the only one that can do the census. However, it did say that state governments could collect data for welfare programs and affirmative action.

Kumar talked about the socio-economic study that was done along with the census in 2011 and said that they tried to get the data made public but were turned down. Besides that, he said that the census was over. Kumar said that everyone agreed that the caste poll should be done. He has made the case that the practice is necessary and important to advance the cause of social justice.

Youth For Equality, an NGO, said that the Bihar government’s poll went against the Supreme Court’s nine-judge bench decision in the Puttaswamy case. That decision said that a state can only do something that can affect a person’s privacy if it is allowed by law. According to the lawsuit, the state government ran the whole thing through an executive order.

A senior police officer reported that 47 foreign nationals from 12 countries have been arrested in Bihar so far in 2023, the majority while attempting to enter India unlawfully.

As of Friday, Jitendra Singh Gangwar, the additional director general of police (headquarters), said that 32 of the 47 foreigners nabbed were caught trying to enter India illegally on the state’s porous border with Nepal.

Out of the other 15, six have been arrested for smuggling gold, six for breaking the law that says alcohol can’t be sold in Bihar since 2016, and one for carrying drugs, foreign cash, and illegal guns.

One person was from Sudan and the other was from Uzbekistan. They were both trying to enter India illegally through the Indo-Nepal border in Sitamarhi and Madhubani districts on Thursday.

The police have opened different cases at the Sitamarhi Sonbarsa police station and the Madhubani Harlakhi police station.

The judges saw both of them on Friday and sent them to judicial custody.

Gangwar told reporters that the Sudanese man who was caught in Sonbarsa has been named as Nasir Buray Musa Abbas. “Police found a cell phone, a passport, and a trip document from the United States that had expired. Police found that he had been to the UAE in February 2023 and Kenya in March of that year. “After that, he came to Nepal on a vacation visa that expired on July 7, 2023,” the ADG said.

The Sashshtra Seema Bal (SSB), which watches over the border between India and Nepal, detained a woman from Uzbekistan called Mukhabbat Murodova at the Pipron-Jethi check post. She was going from India to Nepal without a visa. “The woman has two passports with the same name on them, as well as an Indian ID card that lists her name as Sultana Sheikh and says she lives in Mahipalpur, Delhi.” An probe by the police is going on, Gangwar said.

Since the beginning of the year, the ADG has nabbed people from Nepal, Sudan, Myanmar, Russia, the Czech Republic, Tibet (China), East Africa (Uganda), Uzbekistan, Nigeria, Bangladesh, the United States, and China.

India and Nepal have an open border, which means that people from either country can cross without a passport or visa.

After new protests in the state over the brutal killing of two students by people thought to be armed men, Manipur shut down mobile internet services again on Tuesday for five days. On Tuesday, a lot of students took to the streets and marched to the home of chief minister N Biren Singh, asking justice for the victims. There was chaos after pictures of the bodies of two students went popular on social media.

Because of the protests, all schools in the state will also be closed tomorrow (September 27).

Administrative officials said that internet services had been cut off because of the current state of law and order and to try to stop the spread of false information, rumors, and other dangerous activities.

The notice said, “The state government has decided to slow down or stop mobile internet data services and internet/data services through VPN in the territory of the state of Manipur for five days, starting right away and ending at 7:45 pm on October 10.”

After being shut down for almost five months after the May bloodshed, the state’s Internet services were just recently brought back.

One of the pictures showed a 20-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl sitting in what looked like the makeshift camp of an armed group in the bush. In the picture, you could also see two guys standing behind them with guns. During the worst of the racial bloodshed in July, they went missing.

Both of the students’ bodies are lying on the ground in the next shot. The man’s head didn’t seem to be there. They were taken on July 8, which is two days after the two kids went missing.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is in charge of the case, according to the office of the chief minister. The state government has promised “swift and firm” action against the criminals.

There has been a lot of violence in Manipur since the high court decided to add the non-tribal Meitei community to the list of scheduled tribes (ST). This caused a lot of fighting between the Meitei and the tribal Kuki communities.

This weekend’s G20 Summit in the nation’s capital is a highly anticipated event that will feature prominent world leaders such as President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. Pragati Maidan in New Delhi’s International Exhibition-and-Convention Centre (IECC) complex, also known as Bharat Mandapam, will host the summit. On July 26, this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated this complex. It features cutting-edge facilities, such as a convention center, exhibition halls, and an amphitheater.

During the G20 Summit, Bharat Mandapam, also known as the “culture corridor,” will display the diverse traditions of 29 nations, including India and the G20’s special invitees. This display will include both physical and virtual exhibitions, providing visitors with an immersive experience.

Tuesday saw the installation of a 27-foot-tall bronze statue of Nataraja, made of Ashtadhatu and weighing approximately 18 tons. Renowned sculptor Radhakrishnan Sthapaty from Swami Malai in Tamil Nadu and his team completed this sculpture in a record seven months. PM Modi posted images of the statue on X (previously Twitter), stating, “The majestic Nataraja statue at Bharat Mandapam brings to life aspects of our rich history and culture. As the world assembles for the G20 summit, it will serve as a monument to India’s age-old artistry and traditions.”

Bharat Mandapam has been developed as India’s largest MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) destination, with a campus area of approximately 123 acres. In terms of available covered event space, this complex rates among the top exhibition and convention centers worldwide.

Bharat Mandapam

According to a government statement, Bharat Mandapam functions as a “showcase and promoter of India as a premier global business destination” and was built with an investment of approximately 2,700 crores.

This architectural masterpiece is designed to accommodate grand international exhibitions, trade fairs, conventions, conferences, and other distinguished gatherings.

Bharat Mandapam offers an abundance of amenities, such as numerous conference rooms, lounges, auditoriums, an amphitheater, and a fully-equipped business center, allowing it to accommodate a wide range of events.

Its remarkable multi-purpose hall and plenary hall can accommodate up to 7,000 attendees, surpassing the seating capacity of Australia’s renowned Sydney Opera House.

The Amphitheater’s seating capacity of 3,000 people contributes to its versatility and magnificence.

What does ‘Bharat Mandapam’ mean?

According to a government statement, the Bharat Mandapam was inspired by “Lord Basaveshwara’s concept of Anubhav Mandapam,” which was initially a stage for public ceremonies. This expansive complex will be accessible to the public and will offer comprehensive facilities in support of the nation’s aspiration to progress into a modern and developed society.

Bharat Mandapam design

The Bharat Mandapam building’s architectural design is inspired by “India’s rich traditions,” symbolizing the nation’s pride in its heritage while embracing modern amenities and contemporary living.

The refined form of the Shankha, or conch shell, inspired the building’s design. Numerous facets of India’s traditional art and culture are intricately depicted on various walls and facades of the Convention Centre. These include ‘Surya Shakti,’ which represents India’s dedication to harnessing solar energy, ‘Zero to ISRO,’ which celebrates the nation’s achievements in space exploration, and ‘Pancha Mahabhuta,’ which represents the fundamental elements of the universe, including Aakash (Sky), Vayu (Air), Agni (Fire), Jal (Water), Prithvi (Earth), and others. In addition, the Convention Centre is adorned with an assortment of paintings and tribal art from various regions of the country.

Security has been tightened in and around Chandigarh, and 4,000 paramilitary and police officers have been put on standby. At the same time, 16 farmer unions said they would move their protest for compensation for losses caused by floods this summer to Longowal in Punjab’s Sangrur, where protesting cultivators clashed with police on Monday.

The fight started when police tried to stop the cultivators from stopping a highway and a toll booth because some farm leaders had been arrested before a protest in Chandigarh. During the fight, a tractor-trolley ran over 70-year-old farmer Pritam Singh, killing him. Five police officers were also hurt.

Fifty-three farmers have been charged with trying to kill someone because of the fight and the way it made things worse before the protest. Farmers kept protesting near the Longowal police station. They wanted the police to be punished for using force in the home area of chief minister Bhagwant Mann.

Surendra Lamba, the head of police in Sangrur, said that a few farmer leaders incited protesters to break down barriers before they were broken down. “We haven’t filed a first information report (FIR) about the death yet. We are waiting for the farmer’s family to come forward and will take action based on what they say.”

cops said they were looking at videos of the fight to find out who else attacked cops. So far, 18 of the 53 people accused in the case have been named.

Lamba said that some Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) members tried to block the Sangrur-Barnala national highway and the Badbar toll plaza, but the cops wouldn’t let them. “They used tractor-trailers to force their way through barricades,” he said.

Pritam Singh’s leg was crushed by a tractor, and he died at a hospital in Patiala from his injuries. On social media, there was a video that seemed to show a farmer going under the back wheel of a tractor. Some farmers were seen telling the driver to stop, but he didn’t.

Police said that the farmer died because of the “responsible behaviour” of a few truck and bus drivers during the protest. Lamba said that some protesters used sticks to hit police officers.

Kuliwinder Soni Longowal, who is in charge of the BKU’s Ekta Azad group, said that the cops were to blame for the fight. He also said that cops were going to the homes of farmers and that several farm leaders were being held in preparation for the protest in Chandigarh. “We decided to hold a protest at the Badbar toll booth in order to get our leaders freed. We were marching to the toll booth when the cops attacked us.

Farmers’ groups have asked for 50,000 crore to make up for the damage caused by rains this summer.

The opposite The leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal, Sukhbir Singh Badal, blamed the death of the farmer on the AAP government. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he said, “The horrifying daylight murder of a poor, peacefully protesting farmer named Pritam Singh in Longowal has sent shock waves throughout the state, especially among the farmers.”

Partap Singh Bajwa, a leader of the Congress party, said that the AAP government was harsh for doing what they did. “Several farmers’ union leaders have been arrested, and raids are still going on to catch some other farmers’ union leaders,” he wrote on X.

Representatives from nine farmer groups in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand have planned a tractor rally in Chandigarh to ask the Union government to make up for the damage caused by the floods. Officials thought that about 10,000 farmers would take part in the protest.

At 27 places where people leave and enter the Union Territory, police from the Rapid Action Force, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, the Central Reserve Police Force, and the Chandigarh police were put in place.

Kanwardeep Kaur, the head of police in Chandigarh, said that the farmers would not be able to protest in the city no matter what. “So, we’re going to use as much force as we can to stop them. Farmers from Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, and other states have said they will be here, so if we have to, we will close the important entrances and exits to keep law and order here. There will be enough people at the entrances from Mohali and Panchkula.”

A traffic cop said that if any entry or exit point is closed, routes will be changed right away. “We’ve met with police from neighbouring states to talk about how to work together, and we’ve asked them to stop farmers from marching to Chandigarh so that they don’t block more roads here.” “If the farmers make it here, we’ll block the roads right away, and we’ll keep a lot of people at the key spots,” the police officer said.

Banwarilal Purohit, the governor of Punjab and the head of Chandigarh, met with 11 members of farmer unions on Sunday. He told them he would take their concerns to the Union government.

Inspector-general Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that a lot of security measures have been put in place to keep law and order. The police have set up three levels of checkpoints in Mohali, which is close to Chandigarh.

ALSO READ :Delhi government official detained for raping friend’s daughter

Surender Kumar Yadav, who is an assistant police commissioner in Panchkula, said that talks were going on with farmer leaders. “Farmers have told us that most of the people who take part will be from Punjab. There are plans in place to make sure that law and order don’t get messed up. At least three border areas next to Chandigarh will get fences.”

Farmers have said that if they are stopped, they will hold a sit-in and stop traffic. Since January 7, Qaumi Insaaf Morcha activists have been holding protests in Mohali, stopping traffic on the important road between Chandigarh and Mohali.

Farmers from Ambala and Kurukshetra would probably meet at the Shambhu toll on the border between Haryana and Punjab. At the border, police were on high watch, and more officers were going to be sent there. Farmers in Punjab have been stopping toll booths.

Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) play a pivotal role. Launched in August 2014 by the Government of India, PMJDY is a comprehensive financial inclusion program aimed at providing banking services to every household, regardless of their socio-economic status. This visionary scheme has not only brought millions of Indians into the formal financial sector but has also contributed significantly to the country’s economic growth and development.

Objectives of PMJDY

Universal Access to Banking Services: The primary goal of PMJDY is to ensure that every Indian household has access to a basic bank account, facilitating financial transactions, savings, and financial planning.

Financial Literacy: Alongside account opening, the scheme emphasizes promoting financial literacy and awareness among account holders, enabling them to make informed financial decisions and understand various government schemes.

Insurance and Pension Coverage: PMJDY offers accidental insurance coverage and life insurance to account holders, providing a safety net for vulnerable sections of society. Moreover, pension options are also made available to account holders under the scheme.

Access to Credit: The scheme aims to promote a culture of savings and enable easier access to credit for small-scale entrepreneurs and individuals in need, thereby stimulating economic growth.

Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT): PMJDY facilitates efficient transfer of government benefits and subsidies directly to the bank accounts of beneficiaries, reducing leakages and ensuring targeted delivery.

ALSO READ :> Chandrayaan-3 Lander Receives A Special Message From.

Achievements and Impact

The Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana has achieved remarkable success since its inception, with numerous positive impacts:

Massive Account Opening: Within a short span of time, PMJDY led to the opening of millions of bank accounts, bringing marginalized sections of society, particularly in rural areas, into the formal banking system.

Empowering Women: The scheme has been instrumental in promoting gender equality by encouraging the opening of bank accounts in the name of female family members. This not only empowers women but also enhances their financial independence.

Financial Inclusion: By extending banking services to the previously unbanked, the scheme has contributed significantly to reducing financial exclusion and fostering economic growth.

DBT Efficiency: The scheme’s integration with various government benefit programs has led to the direct transfer of subsidies, reducing intermediaries and leakages, and ensuring that the intended beneficiaries receive the full benefit.

Boost to Small Enterprises: PMJDY has facilitated easier access to credit for small-scale businesses and entrepreneurs, thereby fostering entrepreneurship and boosting local economies.

Challenges and Future Prospects

While the PMJDY has been largely successful, certain challenges remain:

Financial Literacy: Despite efforts to promote financial education, there’s a need for continued emphasis on enhancing the financial literacy of account holders to ensure they understand the benefits and responsibilities of having a bank account.

Active Use of Accounts: Encouraging account holders to actively use their accounts for savings, investments, and transactions is crucial for the long-term success of the scheme.

Cybersecurity and Technology: With the increasing reliance on technology for banking services, ensuring robust cybersecurity and digital literacy among account holders is essential.

Deepening Services: Expanding the range of financial products and services available to PMJDY account holders, such as insurance, pension plans, and investment options, can further improve their financial well-being.

Conclusion

The Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana stands as a shining example of a government initiative aimed at transforming the lives of millions by providing them with access to formal banking services. By bringing the unbanked population into the financial mainstream, PMJDY has not only contributed to economic development but has also empowered individuals, especially women, and improved their overall quality of life. As India moves forward, it is imperative to build upon the successes of this scheme and address its challenges to ensure a more financially inclusive and prosperous society.
