The LoC is a demarcation line that separates India and Pakistan.

According to information obtained by Hindustan Times, the extremely unusual incident took place in the Thanamandi district of Rajouri. It involved a unit of the Indian Army called the 48 Rashtriya Rifles.

According to the officials, who requested that their names not be used, there have been no reports of casualties and the Major has been captured.

Up until the time this report was filed on Thursday night, the details of the incident were hazy, and there was no official comment from the army in Delhi or Jammu. According to the officials, the police officer who was responsible for the terrible incident was dealing with some personal concerns at the time. The wounded service members were taken to the hospital as quickly as possible.

According to one of the officials who was referenced above, it is thought that the Major shot into the air before he began shooting at some of the troops who were part of the unit that specializes in counter-terrorism operations. After the shooting started, other officers, including the regimental medical officer, raced to the location, and according to a second official, the major attacked those officers with grenades as soon as they arrived.

This year, the Jammu region has been the target of two significant terrorist strikes. In the month of May, a terrorist ambush in the Kandi forest region of Rajouri resulted in the deaths of five troops and the wounding of an officer. It is believed that the same cell of terrorists was responsible for the ambush of an army truck in the month of April that resulted in the deaths of five soldiers in Poonch.

Six months before to the incident in Thanamandi, four soldiers were murdered in a fratricide attack at an officers’ mess in the Bathinda military post in the Indian state of Punjab. The attack took place.

While attempting to change their trip due to the Hawaiian wildfires, a couple from California fell prey to an online fraud.

Scammers impersonating Southwest Airlines duped the pair into disclosing their confirmation numbers and ticket information.

The couple lost $3,400 as a result of the scam and were trapped in Maui.

During their vacation in Maui, a California couple encountered a difficult scenario. Megan and Kevin Morgan travelled there with their 8-month-old baby to commemorate their fifth wedding anniversary. But when wildfires broke out on the island, they decided to depart early. They cancelled their dinner reservations and dashed out the door before the fires destroyed the restaurant they had reserved.

They examined their travel possibilities with Southwest Airlines because they wanted to return home to Sacramento, according to CBS news. They looked out the airline’s phone number on the internet and dialled it. However, this proved to be a foolish decision because the number was actually that of a scammer.

ALSO READ : When India intentionally crashed a spacecraft on Moon

They were duped into giving up their confirmation numbers and ticket information by the impostor. Even though they did not share their credit card information, the scammer had enough information to cause difficulty. The fraudster cancelled their return flights and utilised the flight credit to arrange a trip on the East Coast for someone else.

Megan claimed that the caller pretended to be from Southwest Airlines and even demanded money to change their flight. She realised there was something incorrect and hung up without providing any credit card information. However, it was too late.

The family suffered a significant financial loss as a result of this swindle, reaching $3,400 (about Rs 282,620). They were stranded on Maui, dealing with the aftermath of the wildfire and the consequences of the scam. Megan voiced her disbelief, claiming that she had never heard of such a scam before.

Here’s how to avoid such con artists.

When discovering phone numbers online, especially through search engines like Google, it’s critical to proceed with caution and confirm their validity before dialling. Scammers can modify search results to present false contact information, leading to fraudulent activity. To keep safe, take the following precautions:

Always verify the source of the phone number. Look for the phone number on the website of the organisation or firm you’re attempting to contact.

Contrast the number you discovered online with official contact information from reputable sources, such as official websites, official social media profiles, or recognised directories.

Avoid dialling numbers found through an online search without first verifying their legitimacy.Obtain contact information from trustworthy sources, such as official websites, customer care emails, or printed materials. If you suspect a phone number is a forgery or is involved in fraudulent activity, report it to the proper authorities or the platform where you discovered it.

A resident of a high-rise community in Greater Noida West is accused of losing Rs 9 lakh in April after accepting a work-from-home job offer to like Instagram postings.

Based on the victim’s complaint, Mahagun Mywoods resident Chetan Prakash Tyagi, the cyber crime police station in Gautam Buddha Nagar filed a First Information Report (FIR) on Wednesday.

“On April 17, someone contacted me on WhatsApp and offered me the chance to earn extra money by liking and following them on Instagram. They won my faith by providing me with some payment screenshots. They also pointed me in the direction of a Telegram ID for a task. They requested my bank information in order to transfer the Rs 110 commission, the man protested.

They provided a link for me to create my ID and password on a bogus Bitcoin website, and they also provided me with a payment code, he continued. I was instructed to send Rs 5,000 to (another ID) on April 18; however, for whatever reason, the payment did not go through. I was then issued a different ID. I sent that ID 5,000 rupees. I was later admitted to a another Tele1gram group where I was repeatedly urged to pay before being kicked out of the group. I was duped out of Rs. 8.96 lakh in this way.

According to Section 66D of the Information Technology (Amendments) Act, 2008, the police reported a case of personation fraud against unidentified individuals.

In a Saturday intelligence-led joint operation with the Anti Terror Squad (ATS) of the Madhya Pradesh Police, the National Investigation Agency dismantled a terror cell with ties to ISIS and apprehended three Jabalpur residents.

The arrests occurred during nocturnal raids conducted by the NIA on May 26 and 27 at 13 locations in Jabalpur. Syed Mamoor Ali, Mohammad Adil Khan, and Mohammad Shahid will be brought before the NIA’s special court in Bhopal. The central agency seized weapons with pointed edges, ammunition (including ammunition with a prohibited bore), incriminating documents, and digital devices.

The NIA registered a case on May 24 as part of its investigation into the alleged pro-ISIS activities of Mohammad Adil Khan, who had come under its scrutiny in August of last year. He and his associates are accused of participating in the dissemination of ISIS propaganda via social media platforms and ‘Dawah’ programs on the ground.

The activities were conducted with the intent of launching violent terror operations in India on behalf of ISIS. The module held meetings/Dars in local Masjids and houses and hatched plots and conspiracies to spread terror in the country, according to a statement released by the agency.

The investigation revealed that the three suspects were highly radicalized and committed to engaging in violent jihad activities. They were engaged in fund-raising, disseminating ISIS propaganda, motivating and recruiting youth, and attempting to acquire weapons and ammunition in order to commit terrorist acts.

According to the NIA, Syed Mamoor Ali created a local group called ‘Fisbilillah’ and also managed a WhatsApp group with the same name. Together with his associates, he was in contact with a Jabalpur-based illicit arms dealer in an effort to acquire pistols.

ALSO READ :Delhi Police report “suicide” of Tillu Tajpuriya’s brother.

Adil, a devoted adherent and supporter of ISIS, was able to construct an active group of similarly radicalized Jabalpur-based individuals. The NIA stated that some of the module members were already considering Hijrat (flight) to conflict zones, while others had plans to establish a local group to carry out violent jihad in India.

Adil also operated multiple YouTube, Instagram, and WhatsApp channels to recruit and inspire young people to join ISIS. Investigations revealed that Shahid also intended to acquire pistols, IEDs, and even grenades for use in violent attacks in India.

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has recently inked a contract with the talent agency WME, making headlines once more. Fans of Suits, however, should not expect Meghan to return to acting anytime soon. Instead, she desires to concentrate on her business ventures, and her WME team will consist of three agency heavyweights: Ari Emanuel, Brad Slater, and Jill Smoller.

The agency will extend Meghan’s business ventures across multiple platforms, such as film and television production, brand partnerships, and overall business development. Meghan will function as the couple’s public face in their entertainment industry pursuits, as WME will also represent the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Archewell.

Mark Boardman, a renowned entertainment expert and the founder of MarkMeets, was surprised that Prince Harry had not also contracted with WME. Although it is possible that he has signed but has not yet announced it, he may have chosen to pursue different career paths or may not wish to be represented by the same agency as Meghan. However, Boardman did mention that Harry and Meghan have previously stated their intention to collaborate on various initiatives, so it is likely that they will continue to do so.

ALSO READ :This Pune-born architect attended King Charles’ coronation.

Meghan’s action indicates that she is once more interested in pursuing new opportunities and increasing her visibility. Joining a leading talent agency such as WME could assist her in securing high-profile assignments and reestablishing her reputation in the entertainment industry. Before her marriage, Meghan had a flourishing career as an actress, and signing with a talent agency is a logical step for anyone who wishes to continue or advance their career in the entertainment industry.

While Meghan is making strides in the entertainment industry, Prince Harry is preparing to travel to England for his father King Charles III’s imminent coronation. The ceremony is scheduled to occur on May 6, however Meghan will remain in California. Does this imply a rift in the relationship between the couple? Time alone will tell.

At this time, fans are eagerly anticipating Meghan’s future endeavors with WME. She may produce a documentary. A talk program host? Launch her own product line? We can be certain that whatever she decides will be thrilling, and we cannot wait to see what the future contains for the Duchess of Sussex.

The Panchkula special CBI judge Sudhir Parmar, whose official domicile was raided by the Haryana anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on April 18 morning, was suspended by the Punjab and Haryana high court on Thursday.

On the basis of a putative audio recording, Parmar, who is the subject of an ACB investigation, was questioned at his Panchkula home last week. The investigators also questioned a few of his relatives in Gurugram and a property developer. Rajeev Goyal, an additional and district sessions judge for the special commercial court in Gurugram, replaced Parmar as the special CBI judge for Panchkula on Thursday.

In November 2021, Parmar was appointed as a special CBI judge. In addition to hearing Haryana CBI cases, he also presided over Enforcement Directorate cases in the state. He was presiding over the state’s designated CBI and ED tribunals. Typically, judicial officers serve for three years. Parmar could not be reached for comment.

Presided over the Manesar property fraud and AJL case

As a special CBI judge, Parmar presided over the trials of former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, several former IAS officers, and real estate developers in the Manesar land scandal and AJL case. Unknown at this time is whether the ACB has uncovered any evidence regarding trial manipulation.

However, the CBI has not named the former chief minister in a chargesheet lodged in a 2009 case involving the release of approximately 95% of 1,407 acres of acquired land in Gurugram. In January 2019, a case was filed against Hooda, an official, and fifteen real estate developers. The investigation was mandated by the Supreme Court.

The ACB obtained permission to interrogate the special CBI judge from the chief justice of the Punjab and Haryana high court. Subsequently, the HC lodged an interlocutory application with the Supreme Court, requesting permission to transfer Parmar.

On April 25, a division led by the Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud, ordered that the interlocutory application be taken into account when it is mentioned. “The Punjab and Haryana High Court has filed this interlocutory application for permission to reassign a judge. “The interlocutory application is granted by allowing the HC to transfer the judicial officer,” said the Supreme Court bench, which is monitoring the progression of cases against members of Congress and legislative bodies.

In October 2022, the Supreme Court instructed the high courts that if transfers of judicial officers presiding over special courts and CBI courts involving prosecution of MPs and MLAs were required for any reason (other than in the normal course of transfer at the end of the tenure), the Supreme Court’s permission would be required.

The Supreme Court stated on Monday that judges should not communicate to the media about pending cases, calling into question the behavior of a Calcutta high court judge who gave a television interview about politically sensitive cases in West Bengal that his bench was adjudicating.

A bench led by the Chief Justice of India, Dhananjaya Y. Chandrachud, took exception to the video interview of justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay, who has issued at least ten orders directing the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate irregularities in the recruitment by the West Bengal School Service Commission.

“Judges have no authority to grant interviews in pending cases. And if they do, they will be unable to hear the case…They have no right to take part in the proceeding. This was stated by the bench, which also included justice PS Narasimha, while requesting a report from the registrar general of the Calcutta high court by April 28.

The bench added that it may ask the chief justice of the high court to assign the case to a new bench if the authenticity of the interview and transcript is confirmed. “We will not interfere with the investigation or issue a prohibition against an agency investigating the matter. “However, if a judge expresses an opinion about the petitioner during a television debate, he cannot hear the case,” it stated. “The chief justice must then appoint a new bench.”

In its order, the bench requested that the registrar confirm with Justice Gangopadhyay whether or not he gave an interview to the Bengali television news channel ABP Ananda and elucidate his statements as captured in the video.

“We want to know whether or not the learned judge participated in the interview. This is something from a television video that cannot be misunderstood. We do not discuss what was said or observed in court, but rather television interviews,” the judge said as he scheduled a hearing for Friday.

In an interview with ABP Ananda that aired last September, Justice Gangopdhyay defended his orders for a CBI investigation by stating that there appeared to be “rampant corruption” in the recruitment process for teachers.

In addition, the high court judge stated that Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee could be sentenced to three months in prison for claiming that a portion of the judiciary was in league with the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Even if the Supreme Court criticizes him and he is removed from the judiciary, he will stand by his actions because “corruption has destroyed India,” the judge said, perhaps cognizant that his conduct would be frowned upon by the highest court.

Banerjee presented the television interview and its transcript to the Supreme Court bench on Monday, citing a high court judge’s order directing the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate to investigate the TMC leader in connection with the recruiting scam case.

Senior counsel Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Gopal Sankaranarayanan complained that a seated judge cannot give an interview about a pending case and then issue an order against a political figure whom he has also criticized in the interview. Singhvi termed the behavior of Justice Gangopadhyay “unprecedented” and requested contempt proceedings.

After Singhvi drew the CJI’s attention to the television interview and transcript, the bench was inclined to pursue the matter. Initially, the bench observed that it may not be appropriate for the apex court to take notice of certain statements made by a judge during proceedings before his court.

“The question is whether a judge who has made such statements about a political figure should be permitted to take part in the proceedings. “There must be a procedure,” stated the bench.

The court was hearing Banerjee’s petition challenging Justice Gangopadhyay’s order directing the CBI and ED to interrogate him in relation to the bribe-for-job scandal in the West Bengal school education department. The bench stayed the high court order against the TMC MP until April 24 last week. The temporary relief will endure until the next hearing date.

A group called “Hacktivist Indonesia” has allegedly issued a list of 12,000 Indian websites, including Central and State that it plans to attack in the coming days, according to an alert issued by the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C) points of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

However, Indian government websites are “updated” and “capable” of handling such threats and false narratives disseminated by potentially malignant elements operating within or outside the country. An alert has been sent to all agencies, Central and State government branches.

I4C issued the alert on Thursday based on inputs received by its Cyber Threat Intelligence branch in response to its open-source intelligence. The Cyber Threat Intelligence division of I4C detected the narrative regarding the ‘Hacktivist Indonesia’ group, which has been involved in an illegal operation to attack Indian websites as well as those of some foreign nations.

The information was initially shared with the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (Cert. In), a nodal agency under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, which had requested to share the “potential threat” information with the nodal cyber-crime agencies in the United States.

“A group called ‘Hacktivist Indonesia’ has been targeting India, and it has created a narrative that it will attack 12,000 Indian government websites, including Central and those linked to the States,” according to sources citing the alert, adding that “it is not necessarily the case that the group is from Indonesia.”

The group ‘Hacktivist Indonesia’ may be from “Malaysia or a group of Islamic countries” because individuals with similar mentalities are attempting to attack (India) via cyberspace, according to a source.

“The hacktivist group is also capable of attacking China and Ukraine. They also target other nations, according to the source, who noted that “Hacktivist Indonesia” is one of the groups planning attacks using open source software.

“‘Hacktivist Indonesia’ has not only attacked Indian websites but also websites from other nations. They have disseminated a list of 12,000 websites of the Indian government that they intend to target. The I4C unit alerted the Cert using open source intelligence.Regarding such ongoing activities, it is recommended to be vigilant.”

According to MHA cyber experts, “this narrative has been prevalent since last year.”

“Such hackers target government websites and attempt to bring them down using various methods. Nonetheless, government websites are regularly updated. This is not a novel concept. Similar attempts were made by these hackers to attack multiple websites in Gujarat last year as well. According to experts, hackers attempt to transmit large amounts of internet traffic to slow down websites so that users are affected and cannot access or connect to online services and sites.

Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) is a cybercrime in which a perpetrator floods a server with Internet traffic in order to prevent users from accessing connected online services and sites.

If a person or organization is the victim of a cyberattack, the incident can be reported on the cybercrime.gov.in website, they said, adding, “with the assistance of I4C, a concentrated effort is being made to combat this cyber menace in the Central agencies.”

Considering the threat, the Central government has already informed the states through cyber-crime and cyber security how to protect their websites, a senior MHA official told ANI on condition of anonymity, adding that “there is also a GIGW guideline that helps in controlling such illegal activities by hackers.”

National Informatics Centre (NIC) formulated the Guidelines for Indian Government Websites (GIGW) in 2009 with the objective of ensuring the quality and accessibility of government guidelines, by providing guidance on desirable practices covering the entire lifecycle of websites, web portals, and web applications, beginning with their conceptualization and design and continuing through their development, maintenance, and management.

In 2019, the second iteration of the GIGW was created. Additionally, version 3.0 of GIGW has been introduced. The primary objective of GIGW 3.0 is to provide specific guidance to government organizations on how to improve the user interface and user experience (UI and UX), by incorporating features such as intuitive page loading (using AI and analytics) based on the user journey and user profile, using a state-of-the-art content management system (CMS), user-centric information architecture (IA), and a central monitoring dashboard to identify and provide alerts on non-conformance and techncial issues.

GIGW 3.0 also substantially improves guidance on the accessibility and usability of mobile apps, particularly by providing government organizations with specific guidance on how to leverage public digital infrastructure designed for the delivery of services, benefits, and information across the government. These include API level integration for use with social media, India Portal, DigiLocker, Aadhaar-based identity, single sign-on, data sharing in open formats on the government’s data platform, government’s scheme discovery platform, government’s citizen engagement platform MyGov, AI-based Indian language translation tools, and seamless content/data access across government organisations’ web-based solutions. GIGW 3.0 provides updated guidelines for the accessibility of websites and applications in an effort to broaden cyberspace access.

It also provides guidelines for preventing the disclosure of confidential information such as passwords, email addresses, and credit card numbers, which can result in both personal embarrassment and financial risks. It addresses all aspects of security, from design, coding, and implementation to testing and deployment, in order to prevent data loss for organizations or users due to malfunctions, phishing, cybercrimes, or cyberattacks.
