Sanjay Singh, a member of Parliament for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), was taken into custody on Wednesday by the Enforcement Directorate as part of its investigation into alleged irregularities in the Delhi excise policy 2021-22. His father gave the following statement to the news agency ANI in response to his son Singh’s arrest: “We’ve said we will cooperate. I reassured Sanjay Singh that there was nothing to be concerned about. It seems they couldn’t find any reason to arrest him, but since they were given the order to do so, they went ahead and did it anyway. As a result, there will be a change in government, which will lead to favorable outcomes…”

#WATCH | Delhi: On the arrest of AAP MP Sanjay Singh, his father says, "We've said we will cooperate. I told him (Sanjay Singh) not to worry. I think they didn't find any base to arrest him but since they (ED officials) were told to arrest, they arrested him. It will bring… pic.twitter.com/NQN9Jigcb2

The detention of Singh by the investigation agency seems to raise eyebrows among Singh’s relatives. The family claimed that the arrest was carried out as a result of “pressure” being applied to the relevant authorities. According to the member of the AAP legislature’s wife, “They questioned and searched the house, computer, and documents, but they did not find anything.” They (officials from the ED) were put under a great deal of pressure to arrest him, and as a result, they did so. They (ED) did not provide any explanation for their actions. We are all standing by his side. He was taken into custody in connection with a hoax case…

During the course of its search operations in the nation’s capital, the ED was able to locate and apprehend Sanjay Singh in connection with a money laundering investigation into alleged irregularities in Delhi’s excise policy 2021-22. Singh is being charged by the organization of playing a substantial part in the formulation and implementation of a policy that has since been scrapped. Some manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers of alcoholic beverages claim that this policy gave them unfair advantages in their business.

According to the chargesheet, a businessman by the name of Dinesh Arora had extraordinarily tight ties not only with Singh but also with Sisodia.

In the month of July, Arora was taken into custody by the ED. According to the CIA, he was extremely important to the investigation and the case overall. According to the chargesheet, Arora received a phone call in the year 2020 from Singh, who requested him to inform restaurant owners to donate money to the AAP for the election for the Delhi assembly.

Visitors to @bbcnewspunjabi encountered a gray screen with the following message: “…account has been suspended in India due to a legal demand.”

The British Broadcasting Corporation, or BBC, has not yet commented on the suspension, and Twitter has not yet disclosed the request that prompted its action.

Tuesday, the BBC News Punjabi Twitter account was’suspended’ amidst the manhunt for Khalistani separatist and Punjab Waris De leader Amritpal Singh.

According to reports, more than 100 Twitter handles and multiple YouTube channels have been suspended as Punjab and the central government search for Amritpal Singh.

The operation to apprehend the leader of ‘Waris Punjab De’ was initiated on March 18.

This morning, the center requested that Nepal place him on a watchlist after intelligence reports indicated that he may have crossed the border using a phony passport.

The Hindustan Times was unable to independently corroborate Kathmandu media reports claiming he was hiding in the Nepalese capital.

On Monday, a new photograph of Amritpal Singh with his close aide Papalpreet Singh was shared on social media, as Twitter and the authorities attempt to keep up with the fugitive’s frequent appearance changes.

Papalpreet is reputedly Amritpal Singh’s mentor and was in contact with the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI. The photograph depicts Amritpal Singh wearing a jacket, a maroon turban, sunglasses, and clutching a beer can.

Papalpreet is wearing a hoodie. In an earlier photograph, the two are seen riding in a three-wheeled vehicle hauling a motorcycle.

Amritpal Singh was arrested approximately three weeks after he and his supporters assaulted a police station near Amritsar to demand the release of his aide. In this assault, six police officers were injured.

Since then, nearly 200 of Amritpal’s supporters and aides have been arrested, but he continues to evade capture, prompting opposition criticism of the governing Aam Aadmi Party.

Friday, Manish Sisodia was brought before a Delhi court in relation to the liquor policy case.

Friday, the Enforcement Directorate informed the court that the liquor policy for which the former deputy chief minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia, was arrested was enacted as part of a plot to award wholesale business to specific private companies. Zoheb Hosain, representing the ED, informed the court that there was no suggestion from the general public to establish the wholesale profit margin at 12% for private entities. According to Livelaw, ED’s attorney told the court, “there was a conspiracy to frame the policy so as to ensure unlawful benefits for certain individuals.” Read | ‘Next will be Arvind Kejriwal…’: a warning from alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar

ED has requested Sisodia’s detention for 10 days in order to investigate the money laundering aspect of the case. Hossain, arguing for the ED, stated that Vijay Nair and others, in addition to the South cabal, orchestrated the conspiracy behind the policy. The ED told the court that the entire scheme began with the formulation of the policy by Sisodia and others.

As the ED read the charges against Sisodia, it informed the court that the South cartel, which includes Telangana MLC K Kavitha, gained control of nine zones and became a major player in the Delhi excise business. The ED stated that Vijay Nair was negotiating with the South cartel on behalf of the Delhi chief minister and deputy chief minister (Sisodia).

LiveLaw reported that ED’s investigation revealed that Sisodia personally approved the file of the Indospitits liquor company with the excise department. The ED alleged that Sisodia used SIM cards and made purchases under the names of others. The ED stated that he purchased phones on Flipkart under the name of a third party without making payment, while destroying his own device.

The ED stated that the proceeds of the crime amounted to more than 292 crore and that in order to disclose the entire mode of operation, it would need to confront other individuals whom it has already summoned. The ED stated that Sisodia’s statement differed from those of other individuals questioned in connection with the case.

The CBI apprehended Sisodia in the liquor case on February 26. As he was in CBI custody, the ED routinely questioned him. Wednesday, the ED apprehended Sisodia in connection with an alleged liquor scam involving money laundering.

Sisodia’s attorney, Dayan Krishnan, opposed the 10-day appeal of the ED and argued that the policy was authorised by the then-L-G after Sisodia and others drafted it. Sisodia’s attorney asked, “Where did the money go?” “Money laundering requires an examination of concealment, possession, and use. It must be traced back to the person. No money has been traced back to me. We are discussing a premier investigation firm. Why have they been unable to attribute a single cent to me?”

The parole application of AAP leader Manish Sisodia will be heard on March 10. Today, the order for CBI remand will be issued.

As Manish Sisodia was produced before the Rouse Avenue Court on Saturday and the CBI requested three days of remand for the former deputy chief minister of Delhi in the liquor policy case, his attorney Dayan Krishnan stated that there is no justification for a remand extension. “The basis cannot be “we will wait for him to confess.” The inefficiency of the agency cannot serve as a justification for remand. Today, it is easy to assert that he is not cooperating “According to LiveLaw, Krishnan opposed the CBI’s request for an extension of custody. The court scheduled Sisodia’s parole hearing for March 10 and requested a response from the CBI.

Informing the court of Sisodia’s wife’s critical health condition, Sisodia’s attorney argued that locating missing documents while keeping Sisodia in detention cannot be a justification for the remand extension. Legally speaking, she is in a vegetative state, the attorney informed the court.

ALSO READ : Manish Sisodia Sent To CBI Custody For 5 Days

“Punishment is an exception. The fact that you have 15 days does not mean the court will grant 15 days. The court will determine. What compelling rationale exists?” While Sisodia’s attorney argued, the CBI stated that Sisodia has not been cooperating.

After 8.5 hours of interrogation on Sunday, the CBI arrested Sisodia in connection with the alleged liquor scam. Sisodia was granted five days of CBI custody on Monday, which concludes on Saturday. The CBI has requested a three-day extension, whereas Sisodia has filed a bail petition in a trial court, arguing that keeping him in detention would serve no useful purpose.
