Modi had referenced the murder of Kanhaiya Lal in the state capital of Jaipur last week. “How can investment occur in an environment where throat-slitting incidents occur and the government is powerless? This was not an ordinary offense; it was the result of vote-bank appeasement politics in Congress, he stated.

Udaipur tailor Kanhaiya Lal was executed in an ISIS-style decapitation by Riyaz Attari and Ghous Mohammed in retaliation for his social media post supporting suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma’s alleged remarks against Prophet Mohammed. The duo captured the murder on their cell phones and uploaded the footage to social media. A video in which they threatened Prime Minister Modi went viral. The pair was apprehended hours after the murder.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) charged eleven individuals, including two Pakistanis, under the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) in December of last year.

According to the NIA indictment, the investigation pointed to a conspiracy involving eleven suspects who were members of a terror cell and were radicalized by incriminating material circulated from within and outside the country.

Riyaz Attari is allegedly affiliated with the Karachi-based radical organization Dawat-e-Islami. The second murderer, Ghous Mohammed, was summoned to Pakistan in 2014 by senior Dawat officials.

The mission of Dawat is to propagate the teachings of the Quran and Shariah and to promote Shariah worldwide. It has a significant following in Pakistan and supports the country’s blasphemy law.

Rajendra Gudha, the minister of state (MoS) for Sainik Kalyan, home guard and civil defence, panchayat raj and rural development, surrounded his government in the assembly. Instead of bringing up the issue of Manipur, we should reflect on how we failed to provide security for women in Rajasthan and how the number of atrocities against women has increased, according to a PTI report quoting the now-fired minister in the assembly.

As the news of the minister’s dismissal spread like wildfire, Union Jal Shakti minister Shekhawat criticised the chief minister.

“It is forbidden to tell the truth in Gehlot Raj. The CM lacks the fortitude to acknowledge the truth. In the assembly, his minister Rajendra Gudha spoke the truth. He felt so terrible that he fired his minister. He has informed his colleagues that speaking the truth will not be tolerated. It is oppression to intimidate and muzzle your colleagues, the BJP leader tweeted.

The Rajasthan branch of the BJP also criticised Gehlot for removing the minister. “Women’s empowerment, Congress-style, with a sprinkling of democratic temperament inspired by Indira Gandhi! A Minister in the Government of Rajasthan is removed for speaking the truth. It appears that Mohabbat Ki Dukan has no room for honest consumers. This Dukan welcomes only the corrupt and frauds!”, tweeted the BJP Rajasthan unit.

The BJP has criticised the Ashok Gehlot administration, claiming there is a “jungle raj” in the state. The manner in which incidents involving women, girls, Dalits, and merchants are occurring has shattered the state’s law and order. “Rajasthan has the highest number of cases of crimes against women,” former chief minister Vasundhara Raje told ANI.

Similarly, Congress MLA Divya Maderna stated that she feels insecure in the state. “I cannot feel secure here. The accused has not yet been apprehended. Even though I was travelling under police protection, my vehicle has been assaulted twenty times. Two days ago, I was threatened. Multiple police officers were assigned to my protection. I had halted my vehicle three kilometres away from the location and alerted the police officer that I could be attacked. However, the SP assured me that appropriate arrangements had been made. In a video shared by Union minister Piyush Goyal, she is heard saying, “I was still attacked.”

The budget has officially leaked, according to the BJP, because state government employees scrambled to obtain a copy. The budget copy should only be brought by the Chief Minister; nevertheless, Pratap Singh Singhvi, a BJP MLA from Chhabra, demanded that the Chief Minister deliver a new budget after noting that the previous one had passed through four or five hands.

Immediately after the House reconvened, the Chief Minister denied the accusations, claiming there had been no leak and that the new budget materials included an extra page from the previous year’s budget that had been included for reference

Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, an MP for Jodhpur and Union Minister, made fun of the Chief Minister by claiming that when running for office, he read aloud the previous budget.

“Gehlot ji is still very reckless; he promoted the current budget while reading the previous one!

The Chief Minister’s light went out just as the people was picturing a ray of hope amid the gloom brought on by misgovernance.

The Rajasthan Assembly House was adjourned when Speaker CP Joshi pleaded with the opposition to maintain order, but they persisted in their commotion. The Speaker requested that the proceedings be thrown out.

BJP MLAs staged a sit-in inside the House well following the adjournment.Given that the state will be holding assembly elections later this year, this will be the last budget of the current administration.

Mr. Gehlot has frequently stated that the 2019 budget will put a priority on youth and women and will fulfil the ambitions of the people of the state with an eye towards the impending crucial state elections, when the grand old party is attempting to retain power.
