Wednesday, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced that next week’s Quad leaders meeting in Sydney will not to go ahead because US President Joe Biden has canceled his trip to Australia. However, PM Modi will visit Sydney next week.

Albanese stated that the leaders of Australia, the United States, India, and Japan – the Quad grouping – would likely convene this weekend on the sidelines of the G7 in Japan, according to media.

Albanese reported that Biden informed him he was “disappointed” that he would not be able to visit Australia and that the Quad leaders would instead attempt to meet on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Hiroshima.

“On Saturday and Sunday, President Biden, Prime Minister Kishida, Prime Minister Modi, and I will attend the G7 summit in Hiroshima. We are endeavoring to meet during that time, and I will have a bilateral conversation with President Biden,” he said at a press conference.

“At this time, we do not have a set date for this arrangement,” he added.

Albanese stated that it is still feasible for Prime Minister Modi and his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida to visit Australia the following week.

“We are discussing today with the Quad leaders.” We’ll make additional pronouncements in this regard, but Prime Minister Modi would be most welcome here next week,” he said.

“We had very successful bilateral meetings with Prime Minister Kishida at the end of last year, just a few months ago, in Perth,” he added.

Albanese described the relationship with Japan as “extremely significant.” Additionally, he recalled receiving “the warmest of welcomes from Indian Prime Minister Modi in March.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will depart on a three-nation tour during which he will participate in the G-7 Summit in Japan and the Quad Leaders’ Summit in Australia, according to a Ministry of External Affairs press release.

From May 19 to 21, the Prime Minister will travel to Hiroshima, Japan, for the G-7 Summit under the Japanese Presidency. At the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, he is visiting Japan. In Papua New Guinea, Prime Minister Modi will participate in bilateral engagements, including meetings with Governor-General Sir Bob Dadae and Prime Minister James Marape.

The external affairs ministry announced that PM Modi will then visit Sydney from May 22 to 24 to participate in the Quad Leaders Summit. The Prime Minister will travel from Japan to Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, where he will co-host the third Summit of the Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC III Summit) on May 22.

In an earlier interview with media, in response to a query about the Quad meeting, Australian Prime Minister Albanese stated, “No, only the US President’s visit has been postponed. Therefore, this will occur in the future. The following day, we will discuss the Quad meeting with our partners.

Albanese stated in an interview on media Sydney Breakfast with James Valentine that a meeting with a senior-level US representative was possible. According to him, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Australia and has a bilateral agenda. The quadruple summit is scheduled for May 24.

Albanese responded affirmatively when asked if the meeting could still occur in Sydney with India and Japan, adding that it could also occur with a senior-level United States representative. Prime Minister Modi has an organized bilateral agenda, so I am confident that he will be present. And, of course, we have a significant and growing diaspora here in Australia, as well as upcoming events, including a large event at Kudos Arena on Tuesday night.”

In response to a query regarding a meeting between the four leaders of the Quad in Japan, Anthony Albanese stated, “Yes, he will attempt to convene a meeting given that all four leaders will be in Japan over the weekend. Therefore, we will engage in bilateral dialogue. However, we will hopefully find a time when the four of us can sit down together. We will have to organize the logistics of the Quad meeting in Sydney over the next day or so, in consultation with our partners in the United States, Japan, and India.

Albanese responded that he spoke with Biden before 6 a.m. today when asked when he learned that Biden had postponed his visit to Australia. He stated that they have a problem with the potential delay of the budget in their parliamentary procedure, which is similar to that of Congress and the Senate in the United States.

Albanese stated that the deadline for resolving the impasse regarding the debt ceiling is June 1, and Biden informed him that the week preceding June 1 will be “critical” and that he will postpone his trip to Australia. He stated that Biden has accepted his invitation for a state visit to the United States later this year. The Australian prime minister announced that he and Vice President Biden will meet in Hiroshima.

The White House announced earlier today that Vice President Joe Biden would not be traveling to Australia and Papua New Guinea as planned. Biden will attend this week’s Group of Seven (G7) Summit in Hiroshima, Japan.

“President Biden will return to the United States on Sunday, following the conclusion of the G7 summit, in order to confer with congressional leaders to ensure that action is taken to avert default by the deadline. The President informed Prime Minister Albanese of the postponement of his voyage to Australia earlier today. In addition, he extended an invitation to the Prime Minister for an official state visit at a time determined by the teams. The team of the President informed the team of the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, according to a statement by White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.

The statement continued, “We look forward to finding additional avenues of engagement with Australia, the Quad, Papua New Guinea, and the leaders of the Pacific Islands Forum in the coming year.”

The event was slated to take place at the Blacktown Leisure Centre in Stanhope. The reservation has been canceled upon the advice of security agencies.

“Council’s decision is in no way an endorsement or criticism of any political position relating to the internal affairs of India or Pakistan,” a spokesperson for Blacktown City Council told The Australia Today. “It must not be interpreted as support for any particular political position,” he added.
Arvind Gaur is one of the individuals who complained about the Sikhs For Justice propaganda event’s posters and banners praising terrorists.
Gaur informed The Australia Today that he has received a response from the council’s chief executive officer, Kerry Robinson, explaining that the unauthorised banners and posters are being removed by council officials, who have also consulted the (New South Wales) NSW Police.

Robbinson stated, “We are removing the banners and posters that have been placed on city-owned property without our permission.”
The NSW Police, the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO), the Australian Federal Police (AFP), and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) were involved in the decision to withdraw permission for the Khalistan propaganda event, according to Australia Today.

The Victoria-registered “Sikhs For Justice Pty Ltd” is the subject of an investigation, according to The Australia Today.
An official close to the investigation told The Australia Today, “We are investigating a link to unaccounted money trails.”
Australia Today reached out to Sikhs For Justice Pty. However, it received no response.
The Sydney BAPS Swaminarayan temple was vandalized recently, as reported by The Australia Today.

This comes almost two months after pro-Khalistan supporters vandalized temples in Melbourne and Brisbane.
The Australia Today, a newspaper focused on multicultural communities and the Indian subcontinent, reported that authorities at the temple in Western Sydney’s Rosehill suburb discovered unwanted graffiti on the building’s front wall and a so-called ‘Khalistan flag’ dangling from its gate.

“When I went to the Swaminarayan temple this morning for prayers, I saw ugly vandalism on the front wall,” a Harris Park resident and regular visitor to the temple told an Australian media outlet.
According to a report by Australia Today, local police were notified by temple management as early as 7:00 a.m., and management has confirmed to Australia Today that NSW Police officers have attended the temple and that CCTV footage has been provided to assist their investigations.
Earlier this year, there were also reports of vandalism at Australian temples. Khalistan supporters vandalized three temples in Melbourne and two temples in Brisbane.

After police in India launched a manhunt for radical Amritpal Singh, pro-Khalistan supporters also attempted to vandalize temples and Indian diplomatic installations in the United States and Canada. The separatism radical preacher was on the run for over a month before surrendering to Punjab Police on April 23 from Moga. Later, he was flown to the Dibrugarh jail in Assam, where a number of his associates were detained and charged under the stringent National Security Act.

Anthony Albanese tweeted, “I am pleased to announce that Australia will host the Quad Leaders’ Summit for the first time on May 24 in Sydney.”

In May, Prime Minister Modi will travel to Australia to attend the Quad leadership summit.

The announcement was made in March during a joint press conference convened by Prime Minister Modi and his Australian counterpart, who was in India for four days.

“India and Australia are both Quad members. I appreciate Prime Minister Albanese’s invitation to attend the Quad Leaders Summit in Australia in May. PM Modi stated, “I have invited him to India for the G20 summit in September.”

Prior to their upcoming summit in Australia, the leaders of the Quad group have met on four occasions. The group’s significance in the region has grown as a result of its commitment to inclusive and sustainable economic development, as well as the increase in interpersonal connections between Quad members and non-Quad members.

Multiple times, Prime Minister Modi has emphasized that the Quad is a force for global good and aims to develop the region while safeguarding the interests of all Indo-Pacific region members.

The Quad is a forum consisting of India, Japan, the United States, and Australia. Its primary objective is to develop a new strategy to maintain the independence of vital sea routes in the Indo-Pacific.

A radioactive capsule the size of a dime that was reported missing a week ago has been found thanks to the efforts of emergency personnel in Western Australia. The authorities in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, which is home to a very small population, announced that they had “really found the needle in the haystack.”

Since the information about the disappearance became public a week ago, there has been a frantic search for it, which has led to an exceptional public health warning extending hundreds of kilometres in the sparsely populated region of West Australia.

West Australian emergency services minister Stephen Dawson told reporters, “It’s a good result, it’s certainly a needle in a haystack that has been identified, and I think West Australians can sleep better tonight.” “It’s a good result, it’s certainly a needle in a haystack that has been identified,”

An urgent public warning was issued after the Caesium-137 capsule was reported missing on January 25. It was reported that the capsule apparently fell off a truck transporting it from a Rio Tinto mine to Perth, a 1400-kilometre stretch.

The country’s central bank said on Thursday that the picture of Queen Elizabeth II will be taken off from Australia new notes and replaced with a new design that reflects and honours the history of the country’s Indigenous culture.
The Reserve Bank of Australia said in a statement that the decision was made after talking with the federal government, which agreed with the change. It said that the Australian Parliament will still be on the other side of the note.

The death of Queen Elizabeth last year has brought up the question of Australia’s future as a constitutional monarchy again. In a referendum in 1999, voters just barely chose to keep the British monarch as head of state.

After his mother died, King Charles III became the British monarch. He is the head of state in Australia, New Zealand, and 12 other Commonwealth realms outside of the UK, but his role is mostly symbolic.

In September 2022, Australia said that King Charles’s picture wouldn’t automatically replace Queen Elizabeth’s on Australia new notes , and that she might be replaced by figures from Australia.

Authorities have said that putting the queen’s picture on the A$5 bill had more to do with her personality than with her position as monarch.

Also read: 3 Indian-American legislators got jobs in US committees.

The decision to update the note comes as Australia’s center-left Labor government pushes for a referendum, which is needed to change the constitution, to recognise Indigenous people in the document and require consultation with them on decisions that affect their lives.

Australia is removing the British monarchy from its bank notes. The nation’s central bank said Thursday its new $5 bill would feature an Indigenous design rather than an image of King Charles III https://t.co/Gn3Y38hy5u pic.twitter.com/h9LUdLr0P0

Australia’s national anthem was officially changed in 2021 to take out the line about the country being “young and free.” This was done in response to calls to recognise that Australia’s Indigenous people are the oldest civilization in the world.

When designing the A$5 bill, the Reserve Bank said it would talk to Indigenous groups. It will take a few years to make the new banknote and print it. Until then, more of the current note will be printed.
