Passengers fell ill due to the blankets given in AC coaches. The case was of 15008 Krishak Express going from Lucknow to Varanasi City.

Passengers traveling in the third AC coach complained to each other about foul smell from the blankets. Passengers searched the coach attendant to take the complaint to the Railways. When he was not found, TTE was informed about this. After this the blankets were changed.

As soon as the train reached Badshahnagar station, the passengers started vomiting. The health of 3 deteriorated so much that a medical team had to be called.

Such complaints often come about dirty and smelly bedrolls. If this happens to you too, don’t ignore it by mistake. We tell you where and how to complain.

Our experts are – Advocate Yogesh Bhatnagar (Railway Expert), Advocate Chikisha Mohanty and Railway PRO Subedar

Question: What is provided by the Railways in the bedroll available in AC coaches?
Answer: Each passenger gets a pillow, two sheets, a blanket and a small towel.

Question: What is the rule regarding cleaning of bedroll in railways?
Answer: The blankets will be dry cleaned every two months. Linen sheets, pillow covers and towels will be washed after each use.

Question: What is the mode of complaint on Rail Madad app?
Answer: After downloading this app from play store, you have to sign it up by entering your name, password and phone number or email ID. Then log in to it with your ID password.

The window opens after login. In which tabs like train complaint, station complaint, tracking complaint and suggestions will be found. By clicking on it, you can convey your point to the Railways and ask for help.

Question: Is the complaint about dirty blankets, chadars or coaches only allowed through the Rail Madad app?
Answer: No, you can get ticket booking, train enquiry, reservation enquiry, retiring room booking along with registering complaint. For this, you have to click on the option OTHER SERVICE tab present on the app. All these tabs will take you to other official websites and apps of Indian Railways.

Keep these things in mind while complaining through Rail Madad App

The title of the complaint, second title, date and time of the incident, all its details have to be entered.

With this, if you have any documents related to the complaint, then you can upload their photographs by uploading them.

After submitting the complaint, you can see its status in Track Complaint on this app itself.

Question: If there is a problem in the facilities provided by the Railways, can we complain in the consumer forum also?
Answer: When you buy a ticket, then it is called consideration, that is, you have availed the service of the railway. Railway has taken money from you, it means that it is your service provider. Now it is the responsibility of the Railways to provide all the facilities inside the train properly to the customer i.e. its passenger. In this way, it is the responsibility of the Railways to provide blankets and sheets and to clean them as well. If all this is not clear then a passenger has the right to complain in the consumer forum.

Question: What are the things to be kept in mind while filing a complaint in the Consumer Forum?
Answer: If there are pebbles in the food, cockroaches and rats are present in the coach due to lack of cleanliness, or the blankets and sheets are dirty, you can complain to the consumer forum. You just have to follow the points written below…

First of all, click the photo of the thing you want to complain about.

Write your complaint in detail on normal paper.

Go to the station master present at the next station and give your written complaint and take the receiving.

Now with this receipt and a photocopy of the ticket, the passenger can approach the consumer forum.

In the last 15 days, there have been complaints of dirty blankets and sheets…

January 9: Neha Singh, a passenger on the Ayodhya-Delhi Express, lodged a complaint about being given dirty bedding.

January 9: In the Manduwadih-New Delhi Superfast, Rahul Gupta expressed displeasure over being given a dirty sheet.

January 9: Arup Agarkar, a passenger traveling in coach B-3 of the Maurya Express, was given a dirty bedsheet.

January 9: Dirty bedrolls were given to Piyush Mal, a passenger traveling along with his family in coach A-2 of train 12592 Yesvantpur-Gorakhpur Express.

December 30: Passenger Shailesh Singh, traveling by VIP train AC Express, complained of being given already used bed sheet and pillow.

Question: Are the blankets and sheets present in the bedroll not washed?
Answer: Railway has been promising to provide clean bedroll, but in reality it is not happening till now. Regarding the washing of blankets, the Railways have accepted that the blankets are washed once or twice a month. The contractors take the contract from the Railways by filling quotations at a lower rate. After this, the used sheets and pillow are pressed again without washing and put in the packet.

In 2016, the Railways had said that complaints about dirty blankets are continuously coming, so NIFT students have been asked to make cotton and wool mix washable blankets. It will be used first in premium trains, later in all trains. What happened to this project is not yet known. Similarly, this issue was discussed many times in the Parliament, but the negligence regarding cleanliness did not reduce.

Last year, Navbharat Times Gold revealed why dirty sheets are found in AC coaches. The reporter took up a job as a press worker in Loundreds Company, Sector 83, Noida. In the report, he revealed that dirty and smelly blankets are pressed and packed. All the CCTV cameras installed where the press is done are either closed or defective.

Let us also know the rule of theft of luggage during rail travel…

Question: What to do if your luggage is stolen in a moving train?
Answer: If luggage is stolen in a moving train, inform the TTE, conductor, coach attendant, guard or GRP escort of the passenger train. They will help you report your stolen or lost items.

Question: If luggage is stolen in a train, is it necessary to break the journey and drop the passenger at a station for FIR?
Answer: No. It is not necessary to do this. You can file an FIR in a moving train as well, but if the situation is extreme and passenger’s testimony is required, then you may have to get down at a station and testify at the GRP station.

If luggage is stolen in a moving train, then complain like this

Contact any railway staff present in the train like- Railway Police, TTE or Guard.

Tell them the whole matter, they will give you the FIR form, which you will have to fill.

After filling all the information, hand it over to the person from whom you had taken the form.

After following these 3 steps your complaint will be registered.

Read some more articles of the news of need:

1. Death due to suffocation in sleep: Poisonous gas will get mixed in the blood by burning the fireplace in a closed room.

In Punjab’s Sangrur district, five laborers were sleeping with a fireplace lit in their room. 4 died due to suffocation in their sleep. One had to be admitted to the hospital.

In Varanasi, a family was heating itself at night by lighting a fire in an iron pan. Everyone fell asleep. When the neighbor knocked on the door at 8 in the morning, there was no sound from inside. On breaking the door, it was found that 3 were unconscious due to the smoke from the stove and the youngest son had lost his life.

2. Train ticket posted on IRCTC’s Twitter handle: Rs 65,000 missing, don’t repeat this mistake

If you have a habit of tweeting on every little thing, then be alert. Tweeting is not wrong, but tweeting in the wrong way and in a hurry can put you in danger. Actually, MN Meena of Mumbai had to go to Bhuj. He booked the ticket online from IRCTC website.

Meena got RAC ticket. Tagging the Twitter handle of IRCTC, he tweeted asking for some information about his seat. After this, 65 thousand rupees disappeared from his account.

Surat, Arvind Sharma. With the financial cooperation of Japan and indigenous components, the work of bullet train has gained momentum. One fourth of the work has been completed. The first train will run between Ahmedabad to Mumbai. 220 km of piling has been done in Gujarat. Pillar of 120 km is ready. The work of Maharashtra is also in progress. 98 percent land acquisition has been done. National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) Managing Director Rajendra Prasad said that the trial of the bullet train will be done by June 2026. The train will start running from August 2027.

Rajendra along with Japanese Ambassador to India Hiroshi Suzuki visited the Bullet Train Project site in Surat. Japan is giving 81 percent of the cost of this project of one lakh eight thousand crore rupees. But many such components are being installed, which are completely indigenous. The total length of the corridor between Ahmedabad and Mumbai is 508 km, of which 348 km will fall in Gujarat, 156 km in Maharashtra and the remaining four km in Dadra Nagar Haveli. There will be a total of 12 stations in the journey, of which eight will be in Gujarat and four in Maharashtra. This distance can be covered in a maximum of three hours. Although the maximum speed power of the train will be 350 kmph but the speed of operation will not exceed 320 kmph.

Working day and night
The speed in the work of bullet train can be gauged from the fact that 25 thousand workforce is working day and night. All contracts have been awarded for construction of viaducts, bridges, stations and track over 352 km in Gujarat. Stations are being constructed from Sabarmati to Vapi. Bridges are being rapidly constructed on big rivers like Narmada, Tapti, Mahi and Sabarmati falling on the way. 902 girders have been installed up to 36.1 km. Full span launching technology is being used for the first time in the country. The weight of each girder is 970 metric tonnes. It is being cast in a single piece without any joints.

This train will be very safe
Bullet trains have been described as very safe, because accidents in such trains are negligible in Japan. The death rate is zero. That’s why the engineers of India are also being trained in Japan. As per the agreement between India and Japan, Japan is giving a soft loan of 88 thousand crore rupees at the rate of 0.1 percent for the bullet train, which can be repaid in the next 50 years. Repayment of the loan will start after 15 years of getting the loan.

Total station
Gujarat- Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad and Sabarmati Maharashtra- Mumbai, Thane, Virar and Boisar. Mumbai’s station will be underground. All remaining stations will be elevated.
