The test flight was accomplished on the coast of Odisha at approximately 7:30 p.m. The flight test effectively demonstrated the missile’s objectives.

After performing well in three development trials, the Agni Prime missile passed its first pre-induction night launch with flying colors. The test flight validated the system’s precision and dependability. The successful test flight of the missile has paved the way for its incorporation into the military.

“On June 7, 2023, the First Pre-Induction Night Launch of the New Generation Ballistic Missile Agni Prime was successfully conducted off the coast of Odisha,” tweeted DRDO.

In addition, range instrumentation such as Radar, Telemetry, and Electro-Optical Tracking Systems were deployed in various locations. According to the statement, these tracking systems were installed on two ships at the end of their range in order to collect flight data spanning the entire trajectory of the vehicle.

The ballistic missile test flight was conducted in the presence of senior DRDO and Strategic Forces Command officials.

In a speech at the Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) titled “Vimarsh on National Security Challenges in the Maritime Domain,” he stated, “US-China rivalry is here to stay, and it won’t be a sprint, but a marathon. It has inevitably led to a naval arms race between the West and China comparable to the one between the Allies and Central Powers during World War I.”

The Navy chief Admiral R. Hari Kumar stated that the rivalry between the United States and China in the region has led to an arms race. “For example, China has introduced 148 warships over the past decade, which is roughly the size of the entire Indian navy, and the process continues,” he said.

“Consequently, this arms race has transformed our resource-rich region into a battleground for influence, markets, resources, and energy,” said Kumar.

The Navy chief Admiral R. Hari Kumar noted that rivalry has resulted in a scramble for space in the region, where many external powers seek entry.

“Many nations that do not belong to the region have released their Indo-Pacific strategies.” As a geostrategic reality, the Indo-Pacific is also accompanied by the return of great power competition, he said.

“Competition and cooperation simultaneously heighten the complexities of security. While much has been said about the ongoing conflict in Europe, the fact remains that despite extensive sanctions imposed by the West on Russia, the majority of Europe continues to receive Russian energy. This fact demonstrates that even during conflicts, it is unlikely for states to be completely devoid of mutual dependencies, as Kumar noted.

He also lauded the country’s accomplishment in building the ‘Made in India’ INS Vikrant aircraft carrier, noting that it contained a high proportion of indigenous equipment, including steel developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and local steel companies.

“I believe the maritime character of our nation is now shaping our overall perspective and is likely receiving the recognition it merits. The relationship between maritime security and India’s prosperity is likely becoming clearer to India’s government, policymakers, and populace. Thus, maritime India is on the rise, and the ebb and flow of time demand that we seize this opportunity to navigate these high seas,” said the Navy Chief Admiral R. Hari Kumar .

In addition, he mentioned that only 41 of the 43 warships and submarines being constructed by the Navy are made in India.

Indian Airforce successfully test fired BrahMos air launched missile in the Bay of Bengal. It can target targets up to 400 km away. The Air Force said in its official statement – This missile has been tested from Sukhoi Su-30 fighter aircraft. The Defense Department said that during the test, the missile hit the target ship in the middle. It is the anti-ship version of the air-launched version of the missile.

Now know what was achieved from the test

The Indian Navy will be able to destroy enemy ships up to 400 km away from its warship. Sukhoi will fly with this missile from the warship and will easily target the enemy ship.

military strength increased

With the test of this missile, the Airforce has achieved the achievement of targeting land and sea targets from a long distance. If ever there is a situation of war, then Sukhoi and this missile will strengthen the strategic plan of the Indian Air Force. Defense Ministry said- This test is a joint achievement of Airforce, Navy, DRDO, BAPL and HAL.

In early May this year, India successfully test-fired the BrahMos air-launched missile from the Su-30 MKI fighter aircraft. This was the first test of BrahMos missile from Sukhoi.

Test by test the power of big BrahMos

The initial range of BrahMos was to hit targets 290 kilometers away. Which first increased to 350 km and now after the test on Thursday, it was successful in hitting targets up to 400 km away.

How did BrahMos get its name?

BrahMos has been developed under a joint agreement between India’s Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and Russia’s Federal State Unitary Enterprise NPOM. BrahMos is a medium range stealth ramjet supersonic cruise missile. This missile can be launched from a ship, submarine, aircraft or land.

According to Defense Department officials, BrahMos is named after the mighty weapon of Lord Brahma, the Brahmastra. However, some reports have also claimed that the missile has been named after two rivers, the Brahmaputra of India and the Moskva River of Russia. It is believed to be the fastest in the world as an anti-ship cruise missile.

BrahMos at a glance

BrahMos is a supersonic cruise missile, which can be launched from submarine, ship, aircraft or land.
BrahMos is based on Russia’s P-800 Oceanic cruise missile technology. This missile has been handed over to all the three wings of the Indian Army, Army, Navy and Airforce.
Several versions of the BrahMos missile exist. Land-launched, ship-launched, submarine-launched air-launched versions of BrahMos have been tested.
BrahMos can destroy its target at a speed of Mach 2 speed (2500 km / h) at a range of 290 km when fired from land or sea.
The BrahMos missile can be launched from a submarine from a depth of 40-50 meters from inside the water. The submarine-launched BrahMos missile was tested in 2013.

What is the difference between cruise and ballistic missile?

A missile is a guided aerial range weapon capable of self-propelled flight, usually powered by a jet engine or rocket motor. Missiles are also called guided missiles or guided rockets. Simply put, missile means throwing, burning or sending an explosive towards a target. There are broadly two types of missiles. Cruise missiles and ballistic missiles.

cruise missile

A cruise missile is a type of unmanned self-guided missile. These missiles fly very close to the ground like high speed planes. For this, route markings are fed into their navigation systems. That is why they have been named cruise missiles.

It flies within the Earth’s atmosphere with the help of jet engine technology. Their speed is very fast.Cruise missiles can be divided into subsonic, supersonic and hypersonic cruise missiles according to their capability. For example, India’s BrahMos is a supersonic missile and BrahMos 2 is a hypersonic missile.

The cruise missile flies very low, just 10 meters above the ground. Cruise missiles move parallel to the Earth’s surface and their targets are very accurate.
Due to flying at low altitude, it does not come under the radar. They can be launched from land, air, submarines and warships.

Cruise missiles are smaller in size than ballistic missiles and carry lighter warheads. Cruise missiles are used for both conventional and nuclear warheads.

ballistic missile

This missile goes up rapidly after being released and then hits its target while coming down rapidly due to gravity.
Ballistic missile is released from a large sea vessel or a special place with resources. India has ballistic missiles named Prithvi, Agni and Dhanush.

Ballistic missiles are larger in size than cruise missiles. These missiles can carry heavier warheads than cruise missiles.

After the ballistic missile is released, it follows a crescent-shaped path in the air. As soon as they lose contact with the rocket, the bomb in them falls to the ground due to gravity.
Once these missiles are released, their path cannot be changed.
Ballistic missiles are typically used to carry nuclear warheads, although they can also carry conventional warheads.

Indian missiles fell in Pakistan

On March 9, an Indian missile fell 124 kilometers inside Pakistan near its city Channu Miyan. India says that this happened due to a technical glitch. On the other hand, Pakistan claims that it was a supersonic missile without weapons.

Pakistani military spokesman Major General Babar Iftikar said in his statement, a high-speed flying object crashed near its city Mian Channu. This object crashed at an altitude of 40 thousand feet and after flying 124 kilometers inside Pakistani airspace at Mach 3 speed.

Amidst the India-China border dispute, the Defense Ministry has decided to deploy the Pralay missile along the border with China and Pakistan. On Sunday, the Ministry has approved the project to buy 120 Pralay ballistic missiles for the Armed Forces.
