Go First, which has filed for insolvency, has a fleet of 55 aircraft, and the DGCA has received requests to deregister 45 aircraft. Due to engine issues, half of them have been suspended for several months. If DGCA approves the deregistration request, 80% of Go First Airlines’ fleet will be affected.

A senior DGCA official has verified that deregistration requests from multiple lessors have been received. They have received deregistration requests for 45 out of 55 total aircraft.

Lessors are pursuing repossession of their aircraft prior to a decision on Go First’s application for insolvency.

On May 4, aircraft lessors approached DGCA regarding the deregistration of 23 Go First Airways aircraft.

However, requests for aircraft deregistration are still unresolved with DGCA.

Go First announced on Thursday that it would suspend flights until May 9th. In response, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation requested that the airline reimburse the affected passengers.

The aviation regulator had said in a statement, “Go First has informed us that they have suspended sales of their flights until May 15, 2023, and are working to refund or reschedule for future dates, passengers who have already booked flights with them.” The airline had already informed the DGCA that ticket sales would be suspended until May 15.

The airline filed for voluntary insolvency with the National Company Law Tribunal on Tuesday. Due to defective engines supplied by Pratt & Whitney, the company stated that it had to halt half of its fleet. Due to the suspension of approximately fifty percent of its A320neo fleet, the company reported a revenue loss of 10,800 crore.

The NCLT will hear two petitions for insolvency proceedings against the airline on Monday. Go First confronts 11,463 crore in liabilities and a financial crunch. PTI reported that after hearing SS Associates Services Pvt Ltd’s claim for 3 crore, the tribunal withheld its decision.

Additionally, a pilot has filed a petition seeking compensation for his services rendered to the airline. The quantity involved exceeds 1,000,000. The two petitions are scheduled to be considered by the NCLT’s main bench.

Cash-strapped Indian airline Tuesday, Go First Airways submitted a voluntary insolvency resolution petition to the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT). Tuesday, Go First Airways informed the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) that all of its flights on May 3, May 4, and May 5 will remain canceled.

Due to the increasing number of failing engines furnished by Pratt & Whitney’s International Aero Engines, the airline stated in its filing that 25 A320neo jets were grounded.

Go, which is owned by the Indian conglomerate Wadia Group, also claimed that Pratt had refused to comply with an emergency arbitrator’s order to deliver at least 10 functional engines by April 27 and an additional 10 per month until December 2023.

The airline also stated that it is “no longer in a position to continue to meet its financial obligations.” The carrier filed a petition to enforce the arbitration awards in a Delaware court.
