Holi 2023: During Holi, the number of people who get eye infections and skin allergies goes up, so it’s important to take care before playing with colours. Even more so if you wear contact lenses, you should take them out before playing Holi because the colour can get into them and hurt your eyes. Most Holi colours have chemicals in them like lead, chromium, mercury, and other dangerous things that can hurt or ruin your eyesight. To keep your eyes from seeing colours, you should be careful not to rub them. If you have long hair, you can tie it up in a bun so that the dye doesn’t get in your eyes. People can wear glasses to keep colours from getting into their eyes.

Holi 2023: Here are the 5 effective tips to protect your eyes while playing with colours

1. Wear sunglasses

When playing Holi, it’s a good idea to wear sunglasses or other eye protection. You can protect your eyes from the gulal and powder colours that can get into your eyes and hurt them by wearing eyeglasses.

2. Avoid wearing contact lenses

Holi is not a good time to wear contacts. If the colour does get into the eye, it sticks to the contact lenses and can cause damage that lasts longer, which can lead to more serious chemical damage. Also, any colour that gets on the lenses can leave a permanent mark on them, which means they have to be thrown away.

3. Avoid rubbing eyes

While playing Holi, try not to touch or rub your eyes. You might get the colour on your hands in your eyes. Any small thing in the eye that gets rubbed can cause a corneal abrasion, which is a painful scratch on the cornea that can get infected. If something gets in the eyes, the person should wash their hands well before touching their eyes or ask for help.

4. Put on some coconut oil

Coconut oil acts as a barrier that keeps dangerous colours from getting into our eyes. Just put a thick layer of coconut oil around your eyes and make sure it doesn’t get into your eyes. This will keep the colour from sticking to your eyes and the area around them. Then it’s easy to get rid of the colours.

5. Don’t try to treat yourself.

If you hurt your eye during Holi, it’s best to see an eye doctor. Not every eye drop is the same, and using the wrong eye drop can sometimes do more harm than good. If you get colour in your eye, you can safely wash it out with lubricating eye drops. When you use eye drops, it’s important to make sure they aren’t past their expiration date and haven’t been opened for more than a month. When you are having fun with colours, always try to tell the person not to get the colours near their eyes.

“A simple, small test can prevent allergic reactions and reveal whether the colour you have purchased is harmful to the epidermis. Administer a small amount of colour to a non-exposed body area, such as behind the ear, and observe for any adverse reactions, advised Dr. Adarsh Kumar, a senior plastic and cosmetic surgeon.

“Notice if the skin colour changes at the application site. If there is a change or any allergy symptoms appear, this colour should not be used. “In the event of any problem, please contact a physician immediately,” Dr. Kumar advised.

“Such a test is beneficial for those who play Holi with coloured powders among family, acquaintances, or a small group. Additionally, when purchasing paint, one should choose colours with ingredient labels. Dr. Abhishek Shukla, secretary general of the international doctors’ association, stated that in this manner everyone will remain secure from chemically based dyes.

Regarding precautions to take on the day of playing with colour, doctors advised, “Applying a skin cream or oil to the skin prior to playing with colour and a homemade hair pack are effective ways to remain secure.”

Dos and don’ts to stay safe

# Apply little colour on any unexposed body part and look for any reaction

# Don’t purchase chemical colours

# Apply skin cream or oil on exposed body parts before playing colours

# Avoid putting colour in the eyes, hair or on scalp

# Also, check for ingredients on the colour sachets

Holi is one of the most celebrated festivals in India, and it is time to make sure that we celebrate this Holi lets go dry and natural with eco-friendly Colours. Holi should be celebrated with natural colors, as this will help reduce our carbon footprint and keep our environment safe.

The Holi 2023 will be celebrated on March 8th, Wednesday. It is traditionally observed on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Phalguna, which falls in February or March. According to the Hindu lunar calendar, it falls on the Phalgun Purnima tithi, which begins at 04:17 p.m. on March 7th and finishes at 06:09 p.m. on March 8th.

Holi is an ideal time to enjoy vibrant natural colors. Natural Holi colors are made from organic and herbal materials, making them eco-friendly and safe for the environment. From traditional Holi gulaal to happy holi colours, these natural Holi colors can be used to produce a wide range of bright Holi festival colors. These colors not only protect the environment better, but they also look lovely when used on the skin or clothing. You may create lovely holi colour pictures with these organic Holi colours that will stay for years. Make this Holi celebration special by using natural colors!

How to make Holi Colors at Home?

Holi will be played using water, Holi powder colors, and gulaal color from the market or buying Holi colours online. But have you ever realized how harmful these artificial colours are to your skin and how are colours made?

Only organic colours and herbal colors for Holi made from items found around the home or in nature can be used to play Holi without any risk to your skin.

Here are some methods to make different colours at home and flowers used for making colours:

Yellow: For a yellow color, you need to mix turmeric and gram flour in a ratio of 1:2. Make sure to rub the mixture between your palms to ensure even mixing. The mixture can then be put through a strainer two to three times to get a fine texture.

To make wet yellow colours, you can add turmeric to water or boil marigolds in water. Being organic will produce greater coloring, so make sure the turmeric is.

Red: Turmeric and lemon juice can be mixed. Due to its acidic nature, lemon juice will make turmeric red. After that, you may put the mixture to dry in a well-ventilated area. Just make sure there isn’t any direct sunlight because that can bleach the mixture.

Red hibiscus flowers can also be crisply dried before being ground into a powder in a mixer. The quantity and quality of the colour can then be improved by mixing rice flour and red saffron in equal amounts.

Pomegranate peels can also be cooked in water to produce a red, wet colour.

Brown: To make a brown colour, boil 200 g of coffee with water. To remove the smell, mix rose water. However, keep in mind that coffee water will also leave stains.

Purple: Black carrots can be ground in a mixer and mixed with corn flour. After that, you can let it dry. Rose water can be added as well for fragrance.

Grey: To obtain the colour grey, utilize the seeds of Indian gooseberry or amla. Use the dry powder without worry by mixing it with corn flour.

Magenta: Beetroot slices can be chopped into pieces and boiled in water. Red onions are another option. Before using, strain the water and let it cool.

Green: For a dry green colour, mix henna powder with maida or rice flour. It can be mixed with water to create wet colors. Be aware that henna that has been mixed with water might leave stains on your skin and clothing.

Best ways to celebrate an Eco-friendly Holi

Enjoying an eco-friendly Holi is an excellent way to protect the environment while also enjoying the event in a sustainable manner. Here are some of the greatest ways to celebrate Holi in a sustainable manner:

Burning Wood During Holika Dahan

Use dry wood or cow dung cakes, which are sustainable and produce less toxic smoke, to start the Holika Dahan fire instead of chemical-based fuels.

Use Natural Colors Rather Than Chemical-Based Colors

Use the Natural and Organic Eco-Friendly Holi Color Made from Natural Substances Such as Henna, Turmeric, and Beetroot Rather Than Synthetic, Chemical-Based Colors.
