Labor Mobility Agreement: Recently bilateral talks have taken place between India and Portugal. In this conversation, emphasis has been laid on the facilities of labor migrants.
The discussion, organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM-UN Migration) and the national offices of Portugal and India, took place on 29 November, which saw the participation of a Portuguese delegation. It included representatives from a number of public and private sector partners. On this matter, Anurag Bhushan, Joint Secretary, Overseas Indian Affairs-1 in the Ministry of External Affairs has said that India has been a professional player of international mobility of professionals, students for a long time.

More demand from india

Along with this, India has also been one of the most demanding countries for highly skilled workers. Increasing specialization in the global labor market means that new industries and service activities emerge within the new economy. Skill development will therefore be needed quickly and efficiently to allow for the growth and expansion of cutting edge sectors in the open labor market.

Safety is important

Apart from this, on this bilateral dialogue, Sanjay Awasthi, the head of the office of IOM India, has said that it is very important for us to ensure security and orderly regular migration for Indian professionals. IOM is committed to providing effective protection and assistance to migrants and their families, facilitating the development of policies and programs in the interests of migrants and society.
