Hamas’ October 7 attack on Israel is a terrorist act, but there is also a problem in Palestine that must be resolved, said External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar at the Joint Secretary Session of the External Affairs and Defence Commission of the Senate in Rome. “What transpired on October 7 constitutes a significant act of terrorism, and the events that followed have significantly redirected the entire region.” However, it is undoubtedly the aspiration of all that the conflict does not become the norm in the region and that stability and cooperation return at some point. “In the midst of this, we must strike a balance between various concerns; we must all condemn terrorism and take a stand against it,” Jaishankar stated.

Notwithstanding this, the matter of Palestine also arises. It is imperative that the challenges encountered by the Palestinian people be resolved. Furthermore, we believe that a two-state solution is necessary. Dialogue and negotiation are required in order to arrive at a resolution. A resolution cannot be achieved via conflict and terrorism. Consequently, we will also support that. Given the current state of affairs, we do believe that all individuals must abide by international humanitarian law. It would be imprudent to fail to achieve equilibrium in any intricate circumstance. “This is an essential component in tackling a highly challenging and intricate circumstance,” Jaishankar asserted.

India expressed its impartial position on the Israel-Hamas conflict by reiterating its support for the “establishment of a sovereign, independent, and viable state of Palestine” while condemning terrorism. Prime Minister Modi was among the initial world leaders to denounce the terrorist assault orchestrated by Hamas and vow unequivocal support for Israel. India refrained from voting on a resolution in the United Nations General Assembly that advocated for a ceasefire in Gaza due to its omission of any reference to Hamas and lack of condemnation of the attack.

Very challenging and turbulent times lie ahead: The Jaishankar

“…In all candor, we foresee extremely challenging and turbulent times in the future, and there are numerous reasons for this.” Concerning the last five years in particular, Covid’s effects on the global economy and society have been extremely traumatic. There remain numerous nations and societies that have yet to fully recuperate from it. Jaishankar stated, “We have seen that progress toward sustainable development goals has been halted in a number of countries, and that many more nations are currently confronted with a financial and economic crisis, with debt being a significant issue. Furthermore, the Ukraine conflict has affected every region of the globe.”

Sharad Pawar, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) , incited a significant verbal dispute by asserting that India had historically supported Palestine, given that it considered Palestinians to be the indigenous inhabitants of the region. Sharad Pawar, according to Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, ought to dispatch his daughter Supriya Sule to Gaza to fight for Hamas. Sharad Pawar’s pro-Palestine stance was met with criticism from a number of BJP leaders, including Nitin Gadkari, Piyush Goyal, and Devendra Fadnavis, in addition to Himanta. Sharad Pawar cited all “unsolicited advice and comments” on Friday, claiming that these BJP leaders are “more loyal than the king,” in contrast to the statement made by Prime Minister Modi to the President of Palestine on Thursday.

In reference to Prime Minister Modi’s statement regarding his conversation with Palestine, during which he reaffirmed India’s enduring stance on the matter and guaranteed Palestine assistance, Pawar stated that his stance remained unchanged. “I had expressed similar views on the lines expressed by past prime ministers ranging from Jawaharlal Nehru to Atal Behari Vajpayee, which was to ensure a peaceful resolution to the long-standing dispute, where Israelis and Palestinians can live in peace and harmony as neighbours,” Sharad Pawar commented.

“I trust that the BJP leaders who misunderstood my remark will come to comprehend the position of the nation on this extremely delicate matter. “The expression’more loyal than the king’ is an English idiom that probably best describes the nature of their remarks,'” Sharad Pawar stated.

Prime Minister Modi condemned the “terrorist” attack by Hamas on October 7 in his initial statement, wherein he also affirmed India’s solidarity with Israel. Several leaders of the opposition questioned the statement on the grounds that India has historically advocated for Palestine to be “sovereign, independent, and viable.” As New Delhi condemned Hamas’ attack on Israel, the MEA clarified India’s stance on the Palestinian issue and Israel.

Prime Minister Modi spoke with the president of Palestine on the thirteenth day of the Israel-Hamas conflict, expressing concern over civilian casualties following the October 17 attack on a Gaza hospital. “Speake with His Excellency Mahmoud Abbas, President of the Palestinian Authority.” My condolences were extended regarding the tragic loss of civilian lives at the Al Ahli Hospital in Gaza. Humanitarian aid will continue to be distributed on behalf of the Palestinian people. Our profound concern was expressed regarding the escalating violence, terrorism, and security situation in the region. Prime Minister Modi reaffirmed India’s enduring principled stance regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict in a social media post.

Sharad Pawar’s remarks regarding Israel-Hamas

In the past, prominent figures such as Jawaharlal Nehru, Rajiv Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee all expressed views in support of providing assistance to Palestine during the Israeli-Pakistan conflict. Narendra Modi, the prime minister of our nation, expressed his unambiguous support for Israel for the very first time. The stance of the NCP is unambiguous. “We support the indigenous inhabitants of that territory, the people,” Sharad Pawar declared.

What caused the uproar?

Nitin Gadkari remarked, “What’s worse is Sharad Pawar ji is aware that he is making this statement to appease a specific audience; he ought to adopt a more constructive stance.” Piyush Goyal referred to this as a “rotten mentality.”

Israel-Hamas War LIVE updates: Even in regions that Israel had designated as safe zones, airstrikes persisted in Gaza on the 14th day of the Israel-Hamas war. Reiterating its support for Israel, the United States has placed significant emphasis on the urgent need to secure the release of hostages that Hamas is holding. Palestinians in Gaza, meanwhile, awaited the emergency aid that had been agreed upon in an agreement brokered by US President Joe Biden. Israel persisted in its bombardment of targets within the enclave under the control of Hamas.

The Hamas-led Interior Ministry documented fatalities among displaced individuals who sought refuge in a church compound in the Gaza Strip on Thursday as a result of an Israeli strike. Cargo aircraft transported hygiene products, food, medication, and water purifiers to the El Arish airport in Egypt, in anticipation of the imminent reopening of the Rafah border crossing into Gaza.

Matthew Miller, a spokesman for the United States Department of State, stated in a press briefing that the United States is willing to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian assistance to Gaza in addition to supporting Israel in its fight against Hamas.

This was reaffirmed on Thursday by President Joe Biden and US officials: US intelligence does not attribute the explosion at al-Ahli Hospital to an Israeli airstrike.

On October 7, Hamas militants launched the conflict, which was met with unyielding Israeli retaliation. At least 1,400 people, primarily civilians, were reportedly slain in the initial assault, and approximately 1,500 Islamist fighters were killed in subsequent clashes, according to Israel. The Israeli airstrikes have resulted in Palestinian casualties, as documented by the Gaza health ministry, which counts a minimum of 3,785 fatalities, the majority of whom were civilians.

The dawn assault carried out by Hamas militants on October 7 caused damage to an approximate 25% portion of an Israeli kibbutz situated in close proximity to the Gaza frontier. An estimated 400 inhabitants perished, were abducted, or vanished during the assault, which specifically targeted military outposts and Israeli communities.

Bahat (57 years old) asserts that ascertaining the ultimate death toll remains a formidable task due to the ongoing discovery of bodies, some of which remain unidentified. He specifically mentioned a residence where the remains of a woman and her grandson were recently discovered.

Israeli authorities document a minimum of 1,400 fatalities on the initial day of the assault, the majority of whom were civilians and were executed by fire, mutilation, or shooting.

Israel reports that approximately 1,500 Hamas fighters were killed in combat prior to the organization reestablishing authority over the region.

Almost two weeks following the assault, remnants of the destruction continue to be apparent. Alongside the charred ruins of dwellings, children’s bicycles are littered throughout gardens, and laundry is still dangling from washing lines.

On Thursday, Israel conducted further airstrikes in Gaza as a retaliatory measure to the October 7 attacks, during which 1,400 Israelis were slain by Hamas militants.

Israel has imposed a blockade on the 2.3 million inhabitants of the Gaza Strip and conducted multiple airstrikes, which have led to the displacement of more than one million individuals and the loss of thousands of lives.

“You currently see Gaza from a distance; you will soon see it from within,” said Gallant. “The command is imminent.” Although military were not anticipated to enter during the visit of foreign leaders, this was not the case.

Promptly following Gallant’s declaration, Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, published a video featuring himself alongside troops in close proximity to the border, in which he proclaimed triumph.

After engaging in discussions with his Russian counterpart in Doha, Qatar, the envoy from China, Zhai Jun, asserted that the two countries hold an identical position regarding the Palestinian issue.
Zhai has conveyed the Chinese government’s apprehension regarding the humanitarian crisis and the loss of life among civilians. Furthermore, China has reaffirmed its commitment to actively supporting the recommencement of peace negotiations between Israel and Palestine, as well as the authentic realization of a two-state resolution.

PM Rishi Sunak of the UK arrives in Israel on Thursday in order to discuss the conflict between Israel and Hamas. A day prior to his visit, US President Joe Biden conferred with the highest-ranking Israeli officials in Tel Aviv.

Sunak remarked, “I am in Israel, a nation in mourning,” on X, which was formerly Twitter. “Your sorrow is mine, and I stand with you in opposition to the evil that is terrorism.” Present, perpetually.”

The prime minister will extend his condolences for the loss of life in Israel and Palestine and warn against further escalation, according to Sunak’s office in advance of his visit.

Additionally, he will advocate for the expeditious establishment of a pathway to permit humanitarian assistance to enter Gaza from Egypt, while ensuring the freedom of British nationals stationed in the region.

Sunak had previously stated that the hospital assault in Gaza was a “critical juncture for regional and international leaders to unite in order to prevent a perilous escalation of the conflict.”

Tuesday night witnessed an attack on al-Ahli Arab Hospital, also known as the Baptist Hospital, in Gaza, which resulted in the deaths of at least 500 individuals. Officials in Palestine attributed the detonation to one of the numerous Israeli bombings that have been directed at Gaza since the country declared war on Hamas.

Also read this:US analysis shows Israel not responsible for Gaza hospital blast: White House

Israel, for its part, denied any involvement in the attack and asserted that the detonation was the result of a misdirected missile launched by Hamas militants in the direction of their nation. Additionally, the United States has supported Israel’s claim that Tel Aviv was not responsible for the strike, citing intelligence to support its position.

Turkey will declares 3 days’ mourning over a deadly strike on a hospital in war-torn Gaza that killed hundreds, a Turkish official told AFP on Wednesday.

A fervent supporter of the Palestinian cause, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has condemned Israel for “attacking a hospital that was providing shelter to children, women, and innocent civilians” in Gaza and has urged the international community to intervene.

Militants from Israel and Palestine have leveled mutual accusations against one another regarding the attack.

The Turkish government will observe three days of national mourning, an unidentified official told AFP.

National mourning, according to Ozlem Zengin of Erdogan’s governing AKP party, would be instituted by presidential decree.

“Demonstrating our level of perception regarding this issue is crucial,” she was reportedly quoted as saying by the private NTV broadcaster.

Erdogan denounced the strike on Tuesday via social media as “the most recent instance of Israeli assaults devoid of the most fundamental human values.”

Turkey’s proclamation of three days of mourning, according to AKP party spokesman Omer Celik, is an expression of solidarity with the innocent Palestinians in Gaza.

“We both experience the same anguish and sorrow,” he stated during a weekly press conference. He stated that he held Israel accountable for the hospital attack.

Protesters gathered in significant numbers in Istanbul and Ankara, the capital of Turkey, late Tuesday, chanting pro-Palestinian slogans.

Israel has issued a directive for its citizens to promptly evacuate Turkey in anticipation of potential retaliatory assaults.

According to one report, the Israeli invasion of Gaza has been delayed until after the visit of US President Joe Biden. “Unknown date” has been assigned to the anticipated ground assault, which is expected to occur after the US president leaves the country, according to a report in The Telegraph that cited Israel’s Walla.

Some military commanders, according to the report, are irate about the delay because they believe it will provide Hamas with additional time to prepare. This comes after the Israeli military stated that preparations for its ground operation in the Gaza Strip are still in the planning stages and will be presented to the political leadership of the country.

IDF spokesman Lt Col Richard Hecht stated, “It’s something distinct. We must sever ties with the old Gaza in retaliation. It will have a completely distinct appearance, it will take longer, and it will look entirely different. “While these plans are in the process of being formulated, they will be reviewed and approved by our political leadership.”

Wednesday will mark the visit of US President Joe Biden to Israel, according to Secretary of State Antony Blinken. He is also anticipated to meet with Egyptian and Jordanian authorities, as Palestinians have reported witnessing intense bombardment near two communities in southern Gaza that were targeted by Israeli directives for civilians to seek refuge.

A senior Hamas commander was slain in a separate attack on a refugee camp in central Gaza, according to the organization’s military wing, as thousands of people attempt to flee Gaza via the Rafah border crossing.

Because of the Israeli siege that followed a Hamas attack on Israel on October 7—which has become the deadliest of five Gaza conflicts for both sides—aid workers have warned that life in Gaza was on the verge of collapse. According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, 2,778 Palestinians have been slain and 9,700 have been injured. A further 1,200 individuals, living or deceased, are presumed to be entombed beneath the rubble in Gaza. Israel reports that Hamas has liberated at least 199 Israelis who were captured and transported to Gaza, in addition to the over 1,400 Israeli casualties.

‘Operation Ajay’: India is returning 286 additional passengers from war-torn Israel, including 18 Nepalese citizens, the external affairs minister S Jaishankar announced on Tuesday.

Kanta Rizal, the ambassador of Nepal to Israel, told the PTI that while some of the eighteen Nepalese nationals remained in perilous regions, others desired to return home.

“We sent 254 Nepalese citizens on the Nepal Airlines on October 12 and may look to arrange more flights to take them out,” according to her.

This flight marks the fifth operation conducted under the programme ‘Operation Ajay’, which was initiated by India on October 11 to aid in the repatriation of Indian nationals from Israel, where Hamas, a Palestinian militant organisation, is engaged in hostilities.

Minister of state (MoS) for external affairs V Muraleedharan stated on Tuesday that additional flights will be operated if necessary in view of the impending situation.

“As of now, five flights have materialized; should the situation demand it, additional flights will be operated accordingly.” “We have flown aircraft from Israel to India for the past four to five days,” the minister was reportedly quoted by ANI as saying.

“Conflict erupted in Israel, the Indian Embassy had issued an advisory, requesting the Indian citizens there to be cautious and also to register their names in the Indian Embassy…,” Muraleedharan stated.

“The Indian Embassy is taking the call on who all have to travel to India based on the requests of the people and their ground situation there,” said the diplomat.

Four chartered flights originating from Tel Aviv transported 906 passengers, including minors, last week.

Gaza has suffered at least 2,778 fatalities and 9,700 injuries, as reported by the Health Ministry. More than 1,400 Israelis were slaughtered on October 7 by Hamas, with the overwhelming majority being civilians.

The national security counsel to Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel received no concrete warning, including from Egypt, of the October 7 attack by Hamas from Gaza. Tzachi Hanegbi stated that the chief of Israel’s Shin Bet domestic security service was called in for an unusual briefing at 4:00 a.m. on that day, 2.5 hours prior to the attack, regarding new intelligence information.

He stated, as reported by the news agency Reuters, that this did not justify mobilization.

The comments were made after the Israeli military issued orders for the evacuation of hundreds of thousands of residents residing in Gaza City in preparation for a possible ground attack by Israel. Following reports from the United Nations that it had been given a warning to evacuate 1.1 million people residing in northern Gaza, the Israeli government issued the command.

According to the head of the United Nations’ humanitarian relief operation, Martin Griffiths, the humanitarian situation in Gaza, which was previously dire, is now “quickly becoming untenable.”

Martin Griffiths stated that the acts and rhetoric of Hamas terrorists and Israel over the past several days are “extremely alarming, unacceptable,” and added that civilians and civilian infrastructure need to be protected.

Following the publication of a report that suggested Hamas may have plotted their deadly strike in Israel more than a year in advance, this news came to light. Sky News reported citing documents that were believed to have been found on the bodies of combatants in the conflict zone. These documents were reportedly labeled with the phrase “Top Secret.” According to the information presented in the study, the fact that the month of October 2022 was printed on the front cover of the collection of documents suggests that preparations for the assaults were completed at least one year in advance.

It is alleged that Israeli soldiers and emergency responders discovered the documents, which were written in Arabic. According to the article, “They suggest Hamas militants planned to target civilian populations and take hostages,” the report claimed, adding, “The plan, however, was not successful with militants reportedly pushed back by local security – and it’s believed that nobody was killed inside the kibbutz.”

Operation ‘Ajay’: On Friday morning, the 1st charter flight enroute to New Delhi to repatriate Indian citizens who were detained in Israel as a result of the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict touched down.

On Friday morning, the initial charter flight enroute to extricate Indian nationals detained in Israel as a result of the ongoing conflict touched down in New Delhi. Under the auspices of “Operation Ajay,” the flight transporting 212 Indian passengers, including an infant, departed from the Ben Gurion airport in Israel on Thursday night. According to reports, the passengers were selected based on the principle of “first come, first served.”

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar uploaded images of the initial repatriation of detained citizens to X, formerly Twitter, on Thursday night with the caption: “Operation Ajay commences. The flight carrying 212 passengers is enroute to New Delhi.

‘Operation Ajay’ was initiated by the government on Wednesday in an effort to repatriate stranded citizens from Israel, where the terrorist organization Hamas is engaging in intense combat. This occurred subsequent to the cessation of commercial operations by Air India and other airlines to and from Israel on October 7, when the conflict broke out.

“Operation Ajay is being initiated to facilitate the repatriation of American citizens who desire to return from Israel.
