K Kavitha skips ED summons: K Kavitha, a leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi and the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, avoided the third round of ED summons in the Delhi Excise Policy case today, one day after the Supreme Court agreed to hear her petition against the Enforcement Directorate.According to reports, her legal counsel will present the pertinent documents to the agency in Delhi today.

Kavitha was last questioned by the investigation agency on March 11, and she was summoned by the agency for the third time today. However, she had petitioned the Supreme Court for an urgent hearing, arguing that a woman cannot be summoned for questioning before the ED in the office, and that her questioning should take place at her residence, as per the agency’s rules.

The attorney for Kavitha stated that the ED is now summoning a woman for interrogation, which is “completely illegal.”Wednesday, a bench composed of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha consented to hear the case on March 24 but denied her request for interim relief.

According to ANI sources, Kavitha was to sit face-to-face with Arun Ramchandra Pillai, a businessman from Hyderabad who was detained on Monday night in connection with the liquor policy case. The MLC referred to the summonses as “intimidation tactics” by the Centre against Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and the BRS, adding that the party will continue to fight and expose the Centre’s failings and will advocate for a brighter, better future for India.

Ravula Sridhar Reddy, a leader of the BRS, referred to the summons as “politically motivated” and stated that, with the exception of the ED and the BJP, nobody understands the case registered in relation to the now-retracted New Delhi excise policy.According to ANI, the policy was formulated by the Delhi government to maximise revenue generation, eliminate the sale of counterfeit or non-duty-paid liquor in Delhi, and improve the user experience.

Notably, the ED has arrested former deputy mayor of Delhi Manish Sisodia in the same case. On March 21, his parole request in the CBI case will be heard.Kavitha, a member of the Telangana Legislative Council, was questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) regarding the same matter in December of last year.

The CBI had lodged a case alleging corruption in the excise policy for 2021-22. The AAP government subsequently abandoned the excise policy. Sisodia was one of fifteen individuals charged in a FIR lodged by the CBI.

K Kavitha questioned: K Kavitha, representative of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi and daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate for nine hours in the Delhi liquor policy case. She will be summoned once more on March 16.

In the same case, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is already in ED detention. He was also detained by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for alleged corruption in the drafting of Delhi’s new liquor policy, which was subsequently rescinded.

An important emphasis of the investigation into the Delhi liquor policy case is an alleged network of middlemen, businesspeople, and politicians that the central agencies have dubbed “South Group.”The Enforcement Directorate alleged that Mr. Sisodia modified the liquor policy without consultation in order to benefit the “South Group” companies.

Ms. Kavitha is one of the “South Group” members operating under the radar. Her father, K Chandrasekhar Rao, also known as KCR, is a prominent central opposition leader. This has led to accusations that the BJP-led central government is using central agencies to harass opposition leaders with fraudulent cases.

“In India, there is no distinction between summonses issued by the Enforcement Directorate and those issued by (Narendra) Modi… Whenever there is an election, it is customary for the Enforcement Directorate to arrive prior to 5:00 p.m. What options do opponents have? Ms. Kavitha advised, “Go to the people’s court or the Supreme Court.” Ms. Kavitha, 44, has stated that the BJP is attempting to “intimidate my leader.” “, alluding to her father KCR, who is vying for a third consecutive term in power in the state’s upcoming assembly elections.

The AAP has denied accepting bribes from traders or politicians during the formulation of the Delhi liquor policy. The BJP asserts that the AAP would not have rescinded its liquor policy if it was certain it had not committed any wrongdoing.

Manish Sisodia was detained in connection with the same case.

Thursday, Ms. Kavitha was scheduled to meet with the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The central agency consented to her request to postpone her questioning until today, citing her planned hunger strike in Delhi on Friday to demand the introduction of the Women’s Reservation Bill.

Manish Sisodia, leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, is already in ED custody.

KCR told party leaders yesterday that they will fight to halt the harassment by the rival BJP using central agencies, according to the PTI. KCR stated, “Our struggle will persist until the BJP is ousted from power in the country.”

Ms. Kavitha, 44, stated that the BJP is attempting to “intimidate my leader,” referring to her father KCR, who is seeking a third consecutive term in power in the state, where assembly elections are scheduled to take place in a few months.

Yesterday, at the court hearing for Mr. Sisodia’s case in Delhi, his attorney criticised the ED for considering arrest as a privilege without following legal procedure. “It has become fashionable for agencies to view arrests as their inherent right. The time has arrived for the courts to severely punish this sense of entitlement “Mr Sisodia’s lawyer Dayan Krishna said.
