On Tuesday, there was a lot of chaos and violence at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). This was because the administration cut off electricity to the campus as a group of students gathered at the JNU students’ union office to watch a BBC documentary about Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Authorities even shut down the internet to stop students from screening and watching the series, which had already been blocked from several platforms by the Centre.

Soon, the violence turned political when some people said that members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) threw stones at students who had come to watch the show. They said they were attacked while watching the documentary on their cell phones. The charges were denied by a student group with ties to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

WHAT UNIVERSITY SAID :

The university administration has not yet made a public statement about what the students have said. It had, however, told students on Monday not to go to the screening, saying that the students’ union had not asked for permission and that the event should be cancelled.

Under the condition that he or she not be named, a JNU administration official told the news agency PTI about the power cut: “There is a big problem with a power line at the university. We’re taking a look at it. The engineering department says the problem will be fixed as soon as possible.”

The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) said in a statement released earlier in the day on Tuesday that they have no plans to cause trouble by showing the documentary or movie. It also asked the administration to explain the rules that say permission must be asked for before any movie or documentary can be shown on university grounds.

Again, they're ready to ablaze JNU through BBC Documentary.

This is the naked abuse of rights. Remember these faces, whenever they say they're preaching peace through dialogue. #BBCDocumentary #JNU pic.twitter.com/QOcewqklte

What caused fights and stone-throwing?

When students showed up last night as planned to watch the controversial show, the electricity and internet were turned off to stop them.

This quickly turned into fights, with students from the student groups of the different political parties getting into a fight over the screening. Some people said that ABVP members threw stones, and others went to the Vasant Kunj police station to file a complaint against the “stone pelters.” People made signs against the administration of the university.

The student group for the Left, SFI, said that the JNUSU had asked for a screening of the BBC documentary “India: The Modi Question” on Tuesday, but the JNU administration shut it down right away. “While the documentary hasn’t been banned, it has been censored across the country by the Centre to protect their demi-god Narendra Modi, whose links to the Gujarat riots are clear in both the documentary and the victims’ accounts,” the SFI said.

Neeraj Kundan, the national president of the Congress’s NSUI, said, “Before the screening, the JNU administration cut all power sources and jammed the internet to stop students from watching the truth about communal history, the ruling party, and its warlord Modi.”

“During screening, the ABVP also began throwing stones. Even though they tried to stop them, hundreds of students watched the show on their own. Even though the ABVP is threatening violence and the administration is taking disciplinary action, the spirit of JNU and its politically responsible students is still high. The students once again won by standing up for the ideas of equality and secularism. It’s a warning to fascists on and off campus that their plans won’t work in JNU or the rest of the country,” he said.

Madhurima, who is the secretary of the JNU-All India Students Association (AISA), said, “Some students had seen ABVP members throwing stones and knew who they were.”

“Also, a teacher called and said that some thugs talking about weapons near the main gate while wearing masks,” she said.

“They (the JNU administration) cut off the power and internet,” said N. Sai Balaji, the national president of AISA, who was there. He said that students had put the documentary on their phones through an app so they could watch it and talk about it later.

Asrar Ahmed, who came to see the movie, said, “People started throwing rocks at us as we watched the documentary on our phones in peace. Since it was dark, no one could tell who they were.”

The ABVP has denied all of the accusations, saying that none of their members were there. “We didn’t go to the place, and no one from the group of students was there. “They are just using our names to get more attention,” Ambuj, who is in charge of media for the ABVP in Delhi, told PTI.

“The campus of the university has an air of fear. We tried to get students to move toward the gate, but the thugs were also there. So, we decided to march to the police station and ask for the power to be turned back on,” he said.

WHAT THE POLICE SAY

The police said that no FIR has been filed yet. They said that the students at the university had filed a complaint and that they were looking into the claims.

WHAT THE CENTER SAYS

The Center told Twitter and YouTube on Saturday to stop letting people link to the BBC documentary “India: The Modi Question.” The Ministry of External Affairs said that the documentary was “propaganda” that lacked objectivity and showed a colonial way of thinking.

The move by the government to stop people from seeing the documentary has been slammed by the opposition.

“India: The Modi Question,” a two-part BBC documentary, says it looked into some parts of the Gujarat riots in 2002, when Narendra Modi was the chief minister of the state. The movie hasn’t been shown in India yet.

For the first time, a major Pakistani newspaper lauded India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that “the PM has led India to the stage where the nation has begun to cast a larger net of its influence and impact.” India’s growing influence around the world and its increasing weight and prestige on the international stage under Prime Minister Modi.

Shahzad Chaudhry, a well-known political, security, and defence analyst, referred to it as “monumental progress” and said it made India a top choice for investors in an article for The Express Tribune.

According to Chaudhry’s column, India also produces a lot of agricultural goods and works hard in the IT sector. He also said that despite having over 1.4 billion people, the country’s political system is still generally stable, cohesive, and effective.

In his article, Shahzad Chaudhry cited facts to support his claim that India’s governance system has weathered the test of time and demonstrated its tenacity in regard to the principles necessary for a steadfast democracy.

“Modi has managed to brand India in a way that no one before him could. India is important because it acts in accordance with its wants and feelings “He composed.

Imran Khan, the former leader of Pakistan, praised India’s foreign policy earlier in November, describing it as independent and free. The PTI leader claimed that even though the nation gained independence alongside Pakistan, its foreign policy has remained autonomous because India stuck by its choice to purchase oil from Russia in the face of US pressure.

The “world’s longest river cruise” began in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The 51-day luxury cruise will traverse 3,200km from Dhaka, Bangladesh, to Dibrugarh, Assam, covering 27 river systems.

The three-deck MV Ganga Vilas, with 18 suites, is the latest government-promoted cruise ship in India. Modi called the Ganges cruise sector a “landmark moment” that will launch a new tourism era in India. However, environmentalists and conservationists worry the growth in excursions could permanently destroy the Ganges river dolphin’s habitat (Platanista gangetica).

The MV Ganga Vilas will cruise by Kaithi hamlet, 30km from Varanasi, at the Ganges-Gomti River confluence, where the endangered dolphin may live in deep water and slower currents. Wildlife officials counted 35 to 39 dolphins in a group with calves in October.

Also read: Foreigners are not permitted to buy residential property in Canada. There are some exceptions.

The trip passes Vikramshila Gangetic Dolphin Sanctuary in Bihar and other protected cetacean habitats. Platanista minor, the Indus river dolphin, lives in Pakistan and the Beas River in north India. Pollution, overfishing, and poaching threaten the Ganges river dolphin.

“The tours are a perilous notion in addition to all the existing hazards for the dolphins,” said Ravindra Kumar Sinha, who helped the government safeguard Gangetic dolphins in the 1990s. Improved water conditions and conservation efforts have increased their numbers to 3,200 in the Ganges and 500 in the Brahmaputra. Sinha worries cruise tourism would reverse these improvements. Gangetic dolphins may follow China’s Baiji dolphins, which were declared functionally extinct in 2006 due to Yangtze river traffic. “Cruises will severely damage dolphins, which are sensitive to noise,” he stated.

Gangetic dolphins “nearly blind” use echolocation sounds to find food in murky waters. “The underwater noise pollution due to the increased traffic of cruise, cargo vessels and mechanised boats interferes with the echolocation clicks making their very life arduous,” said Jagdish Krishnaswamy, an ecohydrologist from the Indian Institute for Human Settlements in Bangalore.

Krishnaswamy and three other experts used cetacean and porpoise detecting devices to log echolocation clicks and found that Gangetic dolphins’ acoustic responses were significantly altered by excessive underwater noise from motorised vehicles in 2019. Chronic noise exposure increased stress, weariness, and foraging behaviour, causing them to eat more to compensate. Disorientation from extended underwater noise increased the chance of collisions with vessels and propeller blades, resulting in injury or death.

The Bharatiya Janata Party government is using the World Bank-funded Jal Marg Vikas Project or National Waterway-1 (NW-1) on the Ganges to improve tourism and “eco-friendly” cargo movement.Antara cruises marketing director Kashif Siddiqui said the MV Ganga Vilas cruise sold out for two years. “We follow all environmental measures and government guidelines,” he stated. “With ecological principles at its centre, the Ganga Vilas incorporates pollution reduction and noise control technologies to celebrate the ancient rivers passed through,” according to cruise marketing.

The government wants to add 1,000 cruises to the NW-1 Ganges and NW-2 Brahmaputra routes. Environmentalists warn large-scale development would harm the riverine habitat. Critics say Varanasi’s 7km-long turtle wildlife sanctuary was denotified in 2019 to allow canal development.
The comparison was clear and had to happen. Nearly two years to the day after the riots in the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, thousands of supporters of former Brazil President Jair Bolsonaro stormed the presidential palace, apex court building, and other seats of state power in Brasilia on Sunday. Violence and destruction happened only a week after Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was sworn in as president. President Lula has promised to take action against “vandals, neo-fascists, and fanatics.” He has also put law and order in the capital under the control of the federal government. But what is at stake in Brazil is much more important than what was at stake in the US when Donald Trump’s supporters stormed the legislature and refused to accept that he had lost the election. It has lessons for democracies all over the world about what can happen when elected dictators say, do, and run for office.

Prime Minister #NarendraModi on Monday, expressed deep concerns over reports of rioting in #Brazil by supporters of former president #JairBolsonaro and asserted democratic traditions must be respected by everyone. https://t.co/PONvVG5uHG

— The Hindu (@the_hindu) January 9, 2023

Bolsonaro has always questioned the legitimacy of elections, just like Trump. Basically, if these leaders lose the election, it’s because the polls were “fixed,” but if they win, it’s a victory for the people. But putting elections into question is just the last step in the steady decline of democratic institutions, values, and principles. This starts with questioning the rightful place of the opposition in a government and even other parts of the government, like the judiciary. Often, the elected authoritarian, like Bolsonaro, draws a line between the will of the majority and the values of pluralism. This can be seen in the way that minorities, dissidents, and other people are often accused of being against the state and nation, even though they may just be asking questions about the government.

Bolsonaro has tried to distance himself from the rioters, but he hasn’t come out and said that they are bad people. This is exactly the kind of populist, majoritarian politics that has come to be known as “dog-whistle politics”—adding a wink and a nod to the foot soldiers while paying lip service to the rule of law. This kind of politics is bad for democracy. It teaches a lesson about how democracies can be hurt from the inside. How Brazil’s current government and institutions handle the situation could be used as a model or as a warning.

India reprimanded the statement of Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto expressing strong protest. Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that Bhutto may have forgotten 1971. At the same time, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha President Tejashwi Surya said – Bilawal is called Pappu of Pakistan. Most of the countries do not want to have any kind of relation with Pakistan.

Bilawal Bhutto said on Thursday that Osama bin Laden is dead, but the butcher of Gujarat is still alive and he is the Prime Minister of India.

India’s Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi said that Bilawal is the representative of a failed country and he himself has failed. What more can you expect from people with terrorist mindset. Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi said that perhaps Bhutto has forgotten 1971.

BJP workers are angry with the statement of Pakistani Foreign Minister. Angry activists protested in front of the Pakistan High Commission along with Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva. To stop them, the Delhi Police put up barricades. However, the unruly mob also broke the barricades. After this Delhi Police took several BJP workers into custody.

Tejashwi Surya called Bilawal the Pappu of Pakistan

Tejashwi Surya, president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, who was involved in the protest, said – Bilawal is called Pappu of Pakistan. Most of the countries do not want to have any kind of relation with Pakistan. Today the world is uniting against terrorism under the leadership of Modi. Bilawal’s mother Benazir Bhutto was also murdered by the terrorists. Even after this, he is standing with the terrorists.

Make in Pakistan terrorism’ must be banned

On Thursday, India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar had described Pakistan as the epicenter of terrorism. After which Bilawal gave this controversial statement regarding PM Modi. India retaliated by saying that Pakistan does not have the credibility to point fingers at India. Now ‘Make in Pakistan terrorism’ has to be stopped.

The Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement saying that New York, Mumbai, Pulwama, Pathankot and the city of London bore the brunt of Pakistan-sponsored and sponsored terrorism. Terrorism originated from the Special Terrorist Zones of Pakistan and spread across the world. In Pakistan, Osama bin Laden is respected as a martyr. Terrorists like Hafiz Saeed, Lakhvi, Masood Azhar, Sajid Mir and Dawood Ibrahim are given shelter. There are 126 terrorists and 27 terrorist organizations declared by the UN in Pakistan.

Bilawal has forgotten 1971: Ministry of External Affairs

The Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying that the Foreign Minister of Pakistan has forgotten the day of 16 December 1971 when more than 90 thousand soldiers of Pakistan surrendered before the Indian Army. This was the result of the genocide of Bengalis and Hindus by the Pakistani rulers. Pakistan’s treatment of minorities still hasn’t changed much. Pakistan is no longer able to use terrorists. Bilawal Bhutto’s uncivilized statement is the result of this.

Bilawal Bhutto should give a statement regarding the masterminds of terror present in his country. Who have made terrorism a part of the country’s policy. Pakistan has to change its attitude.

Pakistan has encouraged and protected terrorism: Anurag Thakur

Anurag Thakur said that Pakistan’s land has been used to protect and increase terrorism. His devious plans have now been exposed to the world. At the same time, Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi said that Bilawal’s statement shows that he is representing a bankrupt country and himself is mentally bankrupt.

After Pakistan’s comment on Kashmir in the United Nations, India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has responded on the same platform. S Jaishankar said that the country which hosted Osama bin Laden, which attacked its neighbor’s parliament…is not capable of preaching at a powerful platform like UN.

Pakistan again raised Kashmir issue in UN, India said – PAK is spreading lies to gain sympathy

India reprimanded Pakistan for repeatedly raising the issue of Jammu and Kashmir in the United Nations. India termed this move of Pakistan as an attempt to spread lies. Prateek Mathur, Counselor of India’s Permanent Mission to the UN, said that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed leadership of the G-20, a group of 20 countries that own 80 per cent of the world’s resources. As a leader, our country will guide the whole world,” he said.

Adityanath was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the 90th Founder’s Week celebrations of Maharana Pratap Education Parishad in Gorakhpur.

Along with the growth of India, its Covid management model will always be discussed

Even when COVID-19 had gripped the whole world, the government made sincere efforts towards the interests of its citizens. As India celebrates Azadi’s Amrit kaal, its position as the fifth leading economy testifies to its rising prestige globally, he said.

The chief minister said by declaring the National Education Policy during this period, the prime minister had set a big target in front of the country.

“This education policy is paving the way for all-round development. All educational institutions should join the NEP and prepare themselves to discharge their responsibilities towards the society and the nation,” he said.

He emphasised that citizens should equally take the responsibility of making the country into the number one economy in the world and Uttar Pradesh into the number one economy in the country.

He said research, development and startups in all sectors like agriculture, education, technology, should be encouraged, he said.

The chief minister inspired students by giving examples of former President APJ Abdul Kalam and former Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria.

The contest has turned interesting with the entry of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which has fielded candidates on all the 16 seats.Whereas, All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen is contesting on four seats.

Political analysts predict that the BJP, currently holding 12 of these 16 seats, can win most of these seats and AAP will hardly be able to make any impact. In some seats, AIMIM can cut the votes of Congress.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has held two back-to-back roadshows in the city ahead of the second phase of polling. In this phase, voting is to be held in the seats of North and Central Gujarat. As such, the 16 assembly seats of Ahmedabad city, which is called the BJP’s stronghold, have again come into the limelight.Modi had led a 30-km roadshow in the city on December 1.His road-show passed through 13 assembly constituencies of Ahmedabad. On December 2, he led a 10-km roadshow from Ahmedabad airport to Saraspur area as part of his high-profile campaign.

The voters of this city, like other cities of Gujarat, have stood firmly behind the BJP since the early 90s.The two major seats in the city are Maninagar and Ghatlodia.Modi was the MLA from Maninagar seat from 2002 to 2014, while Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is the MLA from Ghatlodia seat, dominated by the Patidar community.Earlier, former Chief Minister Anandiben Patel was the MLA from this seat.

Despite the Patidar quota agitation in 2015, Bhupendra Patel won in 2017 with a huge margin of 1.17 lakh votes. The BJP has announced to make Patel the chief minister’s chair if it comes to power again.

The Congress has fielded its Rajya Sabha member Dr. Ami Yagnik from Ghatlodiya.Maninagar constituency can be called the most talked about seat of the city and a stronghold of the BJP.On the one hand, the Jamalpur-Khadia and Dariyapur seats are dominated by Muslims, while at least six other seats – Ghatlodiya, Thakkarbapa Nagar, Sabarmati, Maninagar, Nikol and Naroda – have a sizeable number of voters from the Patidar community.

Vejalpur and Danilimda (reserved) seats also have a sizeable number of Muslim voters.During the 2012 assembly elections, the BJP had won 14 seats and the Congress had won two seats in Dariyapur and Danilimda. In 2017, the Congress improved its performance and won four seats, Bapunagar, Jamalpur-Khadia, Dariyapur and Danilimda.

The Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM had announced candidates for these four and Vejalpur seats, but Shahnawaz Pathan, the party’s candidate from the Bapunagar seat, apparently withdrew his nomination in favor of the Congress candidate.

This time Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP has fielded its candidates in all the 16 seats in the city.In 2017, in Bapunagar, Himmatsinh Patel of Congress defeated BJP MLA Jagroop Singh Rajput by a narrow margin of around 3,000 votes.

Political analyst Dilip Gohil told PTI that though the AIMIM candidate has withdrawn his nomination in favor of Himmat Singh Patel, there is a possibility that the BJP may win the seat again this time due to a possible split in Congress votes. Is.

“Even if AIMIM is not in the fray, Samajwadi Party candidate Altaf Khan Pathan can spoil Himmatsinh Patel’s game through division of Muslim votes and ultimately BJP can win this seat,” he said.

Gujarat Assembly Elections: Before the Gujarat Assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a tour of Gujarat. During this, Prime Minister Modi addressed the public meeting in Botad. During this, he said that this election is not just for the next 5 years, but it will determine how Gujarat will look after 25 years. The relation with Botad dates back to the era of Jansangh. It was Botad who gave us the mandate when no one knew about us. The people of Botad have always been with us.

During the rally PM Narendra Modi I went to all the places in Gujarat and am seeing the energy of the people. After my tour I can say that Gujarat is going to give us mandate. The public has decided the result of the election.

PM Modi said that BJP is the only party which has forced all political parties to talk only of development. Otherwise all the parties used to talk about caste first. During this, PM Modi said that remember my words that the day is not far when Botad, Dholera, Bhavnagar will be the center of projects and industries. In Gujarat, where cycles were not made, now airplanes will be made.

The Prime Minister said that now people ask for water taps in the house. Now people ask for railway station and now people ask for airport. The people of Gujarat want maximum development. Today the Mission School of Excellence of Gujarat is a model for the whole of India. Here 20 thousand schools will work under 5G technology.

People have never seen water in Dhandhuka and other places in Botad. People did not have water to take bath, we brought Sardar Sarovar Canal. Today there is water in every field. PM Modi said that this election is for the next 25 years. Not just for 5 years.
