On Friday, Shaktikanta Das, governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), will announce the outcomes of the three-day Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting that began on Wednesday.

In August, the MPC resolved to maintain the policy repo rate at 6.50 percent. In fact, in its previous three interest rate policies, including August’s, the panel maintained the status quo. It is widely anticipated that the repo rate will remain unchanged once again.

The repo rate has increased by 250 basis points (bps) since May of 2017.
