On Tuesday, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and MD of Reliance Industries, announced that the company would be investing an extra ₹20,000 crore in West Bengal over the next three years.

The state of Bengal has been one of Reliance’s main business spots. He said this at the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS): “We plan to invest an extra ₹20,000 crore in Bengal over the next three years to improve digital life solutions, grow Reliance Retail, and work on bio-energy.”

He said that Reliance Industries has put about ₹45,000 crore into the state in the past few years.

“Reliance will leave no stone unturned to accelerate Bengal’s growth,” he said.

Ambani said that the goal is to improve digital life solutions even more so that people in Bengal can have better living conditions and get better schooling, health care, and farming services.

“Besides Reliance Retail, the company is quickly spreading its wings across the state. He said, “In the next two years, our network of nearly 1,000 stores will grow to over 1,200.”

Ambani, who also went to Bengal’s biggest business event in 2019, said that Jio Mart had brought 5.50 lakh kirana merchants in the state under the umbrella of modern and organized retail, which gave them more output, income, and economies of scale.

This year, Reliance Industries will have “manifold” more stores than it does now, which are about 20 lakh square feet in size.

“In the area of bio-energy, we are planning to set up compressed bio-gas (CBG) plants in Bengal that will enable farmers to increase their incomes by doubling up as ‘anna daatas’ and ‘urja daatas’ ─ producers of food as well as energy,” he explained.

In the next three years, it wants to build 100 compressed CBG plants that will use 5.5 million metric tons of farm waste and organic matter.

Ambani said that the Reliance Foundation will also work to fix up and renovate Kolkata’s famous Kalighat Temple so that it can return to its “original glory.”

The chairman and MD of Reliance Industries said, “We are in the process of fixing up the whole temple complex, including the heritage buildings that are hundreds of years old, and bringing them back to their original glory.”

A news source called Reuters said that Jio Financial Services might issue its first bonds between January and March 2024. The money will likely be raised through five-year bonds, the news source said.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) opened higher on November 21 for Mukesh Amabi’s business after news of its first bond release hit the news. On November 20, the stock sold at ₹215.5 on the NSE. At 9:20 a.m. today, it was worth ₹217.60.

Four people told Reuters that Jio Financial Services was in early talks with bankers and that the company “may tap the market in the last quarter of the financial year.” The company has not yet replied to the story, though.

In August 2023, JFS stock was first listed on the National Stock Exchange and the Bombay Stock Exchange. It was priced at ₹262 and ₹265 per share. Even though the company made a net profit of ₹668 crore in Q2 FY24, the stock price has been slowly going down over the last three months.

Jio Financial Services-RIL demerger

Jio Financial Services chose to break away from Reliance Industries Limited in order to become a full-service financial sector player. After it was split up, JFS and BlackRock announced they would work together on an asset management business for 50/50.

Tuesday, Reliance Jio announced the debut of its 5G services in 50 cities, calling it the largest-ever rollout of these services.
Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Puducherry, and Kerala are home to these cities, as per a Jio announcement.
Other States include Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
Jio consumers in 184 cities can now use 5G services, according to the telco’s announcement.
“Reliance Jio announced today the largest-ever launch of its True 5G services in 50 cities,” the firm stated.
Starting today, Jio consumers in these cities will be asked to participate in the Jio Welcome Offer, which provides unlimited data at speeds of up to 1 Gbps plus at no additional cost.
“We are happy to announce the launch of Jio True 5G services in an additional 50 locations across 17 states and union territories, bringing the total to 184. This is by far one of the largest deployments of 5G services, not only in India but globally “Jio spokeswoman added.
The cities include Chittoor, Ongole, Kadapa (Andhra Pradesh); Nagaon (Assam); Bilaspur, Korba (Chhattisgarh); Panaji (Goa); Ambala, Hisar, Karnal, Panipat, Rohtak (Haryana); Hassan, Mandya (Karnataka) among others.
