Bengaluru: On Saturday, a few trains on the Green Line of Namma Metro were delayed for close to ten minutes after two passengers attempted to cross the electrified metro track while utilising the system for the first time.

Security officers, however, stepped in right away and saved the passengers.

According to representatives of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), the event is believed to have taken place on February 11 at or around 6 p.m. at the Mahakavi Kuvempu Road metro station on the Green Line of the Bengaluru Metro.

They were trying to cross the rails to get to the other side of the station, and the two men, who were from a village, were using the metro for the first time. When the station controller and security officers realised what had happened, they hurriedly pulled the two men from the track.

They were unaware that they needed to get to the concourse to enter the metro in order to board the train going in the opposite direction. The passengers wanted to take that train. Instead, they unknowingly used the tracks, a BMRCL representative claimed, adding that both passengers were safe and had been taken to the station control centre and counselled.

The incident caused a 10-minute Green Line train delay on Saturday between 6:03 and 6:13.
