New Delhi:Tuesday, during a meeting with his Australian counterpart Penny Wong, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar discussed India’s fraught relationship with Canada. As part of the India-Australia Foreign Ministers’ Framework Dialogue, the two also deliberated on the Quad alliance alongside the Australian foreign minister.

In replying to a question regarding Canada subsequent to their meeting in the nation’s capital, he stated that they deliberated on the diplomatic dispute. He stated that he conveyed India’s perspective regarding the tolerance of radicalism and extremism in Canada.

“From our point of view, the key issue is really the space which is being given to extremism and radicalism in Canada,” according to him.

Given Australia’s amicable relations with both India and China, he stated that “Australia must understand our position on the matter.”

Additionally, the regional partnership Quad, which Japan, India, the United States, and Australia formed to counter China’s increasing assertiveness in the Indo-Pacific, was discussed by the two leaders.

“During our discussion today, Quad was at length discussed…We are engaged in the resolution of a wide array of concerns,” he explained.

In addition to commerce and investments, the meeting encompasses discussions on intelligence sharing pertaining to military and shipping operations.

Bloomberg reports that India and Australia have reached a mutual agreement to map the sea floor of the Indian Ocean, a region vital for submarine operations, and to establish formal protocols for air-to-air refueling.

Since September, when Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused India of complicity in the assassination of Khalistan terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, relations between India and Canada have been tense.

New Delhi, in its denial of the “baseless” allegation, has requested Canada to provide evidence.

Australia and India supported a two-state resolution to the Israel-Palestine dispute.

In the interim, S. Jaishankar stated at a virtual meeting of BRICS leaders that the Palestinians’ concerns must be taken seriously.

“In Gaza, the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas is a source of immense human suffering.” Humanitarian assistance is currently required to reach the population of Gaza immediately. Additionally, it is critical that every single captive be liberated. PM Modi has engaged in discussions with numerous leaders both regionally and globally regarding this matter. He has emphasized the necessity of resuming authentic and direct peace negotiations and establishing the conditions for peace. We hold the view that giving due consideration to the concerns of Palestinians is essential. “This is only possible through a two-state solution,” he continued.

The sharp rise in violence between Israel and the Palestinians was seen by Russian President Vladimir Putin as a clear example of how the US’s Middle East strategy has failed. Vladimir Putin told the visiting prime minister of Iraq that Washington had tried to take over the search for a solution in the area.

“I think many people would agree with me that it’s a clear example of the failure of US politics in the Middle East,” he stated.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said earlier that Moscow has been in touch with both Israel and the Palestinians to help find a solution. He said this when he was asked about a claim by the Palestinian ambassador to Moscow that Mahmoud Abbas, the leader of the Palestinians, would soon be visiting Moscow. Dmitry Peskov said that the visit was planned before the war and that Moscow will make the date public as soon as it is set.

Sergei Lavrov, the foreign minister of Russia, said that making a Palestinian state was the “most reliable” way to bring peace to Israel because fighting terrorists alone would not keep people safe. Sergei Lavrov said that the best way to end the war is to make a “Palestinian state that would live side by side with Israel.”

He said, “We cannot agree with those who say that war on terrorism is the only way to ensure security.” He also said that Moscow was “deeply concerned that hundreds of Israelis and Palestinians have died and that the Gaza Sector has been declared a target for Israeli retaliation.”

ALSO READ:Congress-NC wins Ladakh in first poll following Article 370 repeal

Sergei Lavrov said that Russia had “serious questions” about the way the West spoke about Israel because “they say that fighting should stop right away and Israel should destroy the terrorists.” But they have done this before, and once things calmed down, they never realized that the main cause of the dispute needs to be taken care of. The Palestinian issue shouldn’t be put off any longer.

Following the opening of an attack by the Palestinian Islamist organization Hamas on Israel, US President Joe Biden reportedly informed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the United States was prepared to provide “all appropriate means of support.”

“I assured Prime Minister Netanyahu that our readiness to provide any suitable form of assistance to the Government and people of Israel was crystal clear,” Joe Biden said in a statement following his conversation with Netanyahu.

“Israel is permitted to defend its people and nation.” He added, “The United States issues a warning to any hostile party toward Israel that may attempt to gain an advantage in this situation.”

Furthermore, Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized the need for a “prolonged campaign” and expressed gratitude to Biden for his “unwavering support.”

The Israel prime minister wrote on X (previously Twitter) that US President Joe Biden called Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and emphasized that the United States firmly supports Israel’s right to self-defense.

“Prime Minister Netanyahu expressed his gratitude to US President Biden for his unwavering support and emphasized the imperative of a prolonged, forceful campaign, which Israel is certain to triumph over,” the statement continued.

The Hamas assaults were also met with “unequivocal condemnation” from US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

“We condemn unequivocally the abhorrent acts of terrorism committed against Israel by Hamas.” Antony Blinken stated, “We extend our condolences to the Israeli people and government on behalf of those lives lost in these attacks and stand in solidarity with them.”

Daniel Hagari, an army spokesman, stated that this occurred hours after the incursion began, while Israeli forces were still engaged in combat with Hamas in 22 locations near the Gaza Strip, including municipalities and other communities. At least seventy people were murdered and hundreds were injured, according to the Israeli national rescue service, making it the deadliest attack in Israel in years. Additionally, Israeli civilians and soldiers were captured and transported to Gaza.

New Delhi: In an effort to demonstrate its diplomatic prowess, China has recently begun mediating the decades-long Palestine-Israel conflict. China, building on its success in mediating a peace agreement between Saudi Arabia and Iran, now aims to reduce tensions and promote stability in the Middle East by actively pursuing a solution to the Palestinian issue.

China’s involvement in the issue was highlighted in an article published by the Global Times, a Chinese government-affiliated news outlet. The publication urged the international community to refocus on the Palestinian issue, emphasizing the collective responsibility to assist the Middle East in achieving peace and stability.

Seven persons were injured in a recent Palestinian suicide attack in Tel Aviv, carried out by a 20-year-old Palestinian, which highlights the urgency of mediation. Hamas, a Palestinian political organization, described the assault as a “first response to Israeli crimes against Jenin residents.” This incident and a succession of events that have escalated have increased the need for external intervention to de-escalate tensions.

Significantly, China’s attempt to mediate follows Israel’s extensive operation in Jenin involving drones and helicopters, which resulted in the largest assault in the northern West Bank in more than two decades.

The operation resulted in the death of at least ten Palestinians, the injury of eighty others, and the flight of thousands from the affected refugee camp. In response, Palestine severed all contacts, meetings, and security coordination with the Israeli government, vehemently condemning its brutal West Bank raids.

During a June 27 meeting of the UN Security Council, the Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations, Zhang Jun, emphasized the significance of breaking the cycle of violence between Israelis and Palestinians.

He emphasized the importance of upholding international law, halting unilateral actions that alter the status quo, honoring political commitments, and advancing the two-state solution. Zhang Jun’s comments demonstrate China’s desire to play a significant role as a regional arbitrator.

The expanding role of China in mediating conflicts is not limited to the Palestine-Israel conflict. The recent success in facilitating the resumption of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran has emboldened China to pursue additional diplomatic efforts as a mediator in international disputes involving Gulf states and beyond.

In June, President Mahmoud Abbas of the State of Palestine visited China, where President Xi Jinping proposed a three-point settlement for the Palestinian issue. President Xi emphasized the urgency of addressing the unresolved issue, which has caused the Palestinian people significant distress for decades.

The visit of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to China, scheduled for later this month, is anticipated by Chinese leaders. Although the trip has not yet been officially confirmed, experts and academics believe that Netanyahu’s visit could be instrumental in advancing a peaceful resolution to the Palestine-Israel conflict.

ALSO READ :Jaishankar to Embark on a Four-Day Visit to Tanzania Today

According to some experts, Netanyahu’s decision to engage with China reflects Israel’s desire to remind the United States that other diplomatic options exist.

China seeks to facilitate the resumption of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel in addition to mediating the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

Western nations, and the United States in particular, have yet to determine how they will respond to China’s newfound willingness to mediate in complex international issues.

According to Israel’s media, In response to Hamas’s violations of security, Israel targeted two tunnels and weapons factories.

According to the Israel Defense Force, Israel has targeted two tunnels, one of which is located in Beit Hanoun, a city in northern Gaza, and the other near Khan Younis, a city in southern Gaza.

The strikes were a response to “security violations” committed by Hamas in recent days, the IDF said, referring to rocket fire from the Gaza Strip and a massive rocket barrage from Lebanon on Thursday.

According to the military, the two tunnels did not cross into Israeli territory and posed no threat to Israeli civilians.

In addition, two facilities allegedly utilized by Hamas to manufacture weapons were targeted.

“The IDF holds Hamas accountable for all terror activities emanating from the Gaza Strip, and it will face the consequences for security violations against Israel,” the IDF stated.

According to media of Israel, citing the IDF, 34 missiles were fired from southern Lebanon at Western and Upper Galilee prior to this attack.

According to the IDF, 25 of the projectiles were intercepted by the Iron Dome air defense system.

The IDF adds that at least five missiles struck Israeli territory while the locations of the remaining four remain unknown.

The impact of the projectile resulted in two minor injuries and some damage.

The IDF’s Home Front Command says there are no special instructions for civilians following the unprecedented attack.

The Prime Minister’s Office says in a statement reported by media of Israel that, following the attack, a high-level security cabinet was convened in Israel, where a succession of decisions were made based on the recommendations of military and defense officials.

Netanyahu stated in his statement, “Israel’s response tonight and in the future will exact a high price from our enemies.”
