]]> In most of the country, including the four metros, the costs of gasoline and diesel have stayed the same on Thursday. Rates have gone up and down a little in some places, though.

One liter of gasoline still costs ₹101.94 in Mumbai, which is the financial capital, ₹106.03 in Kolkata, ₹102.63 in Chennai, and ₹96.72 in New Delhi, which is the national capital. Diesel, on the other hand, is still ₹94.27 in Mumbai, ₹94.24 in Chennai, ₹92.76 in Kolkata, and ₹89.62 in New Delhi for the same amount.

Since May 21, 2018, when the last change to the prices of gasoline and diesel was announced across the country, they have stayed mostly the same.

For example, Bharat Petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum, and Indian Oil are oil marketing companies (OMCs) in India that set the prices of fuel every day. The rates are released every day at 6 a.m., whether they have changed or stayed the same. Since June 2017, these have been revised every day. Before that, they were only updated every 15 days.

Also, it’s important to know that gas prices change from state to state. It’s because of things like value-added tax (VAT), freight costs, city taxes, and so on.
