Former president and deputy chairman of the security council Dmitry Medvedev warned that the West will lose the fight in Moscow-Kyiv for decades. He stated that Russia must continue the fight.Former president and deputy chairman of the security council Dmitry Medvedev warned that the West will lose the fight in Moscow-Kyiv for decades. He stated that Russia must continue the fight.

“It doesn’t matter if it takes years or even decades. We have no choice: either we destroy their unfriendly political system, or the West as a whole will eventually tear Russia apart,” Dmitry Medvedev wrote in a Telegram post, according to RT.

The former leader of the Kremlin said that such a result would be bad for everyone involved. He also said that if Russia loses the fight, the West will also “perish.”

Dmitry Medvedev said, “Nobody needs this.” He called Ukraine a “terrorist” state and stressed that Russia was determined to break it up totally and stop Kyiv from coming back. He said that the conflict is a matter of life and death for Russia and that the West will finally stop helping Ukraine because it hurts their own interests.

“For them, this is an odd war where people they don’t know are dying. “They don’t feel sorry for them, but the West won’t go past the point where its own interests are hurt too much,” the former Russian president said. “Someone else’s war becomes boring, expensive, and pointless sooner or later.”

This comes as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky praised the “historic” decision to give Ukraine F-16 fighter jets to strengthen its Soviet-era air force. He said this while he was in the Netherlands, just two days after the US approved the transfer to Ukraine of US-made warplanes made in the Netherlands and Denmark.

Mark Rutte, the prime minister of the Netherlands, said, “The Netherlands and Denmark commit to transferring F-16s to Ukraine once the conditions for such a transfer have been met.

“Zelensky called the move “absolutely historic, powerful, and inspiring for us,” and added, “This is another step towards strengthening Ukraine’s air shield.”

Refiners in India would have to increase supply from other countries as discounts on Russian crude decrease, a top government official told reporters on Monday.

India’s dependence on Russian oil imports has grown since the West cut ties with Moscow over its invasion of Ukraine in February. Due to substantial price cuts relative to Brent, Indian refiners have been gorging on Russian oil.

A source from an Indian refinery noted that the availability of Russian oil on spot markets has decreased, while discounts on Russia’s flagship Urals grade have fallen to $3.50–$3.50 per barrel for August loading and September delivery.

This disparity is now $1–2 per barrel smaller than anticipated, down from $8–9 per barrel in July.

The official stated that declining discounts had led to Russian oil prices regularly exceeding the $60 per barrel cap imposed by Western nations.

As a result of Opec+’s decision to reduce output, discounts have been gradually shrinking.

The price cuts offered by Russia explain the switch to their oil. If the price goes up to more beyond $60 per barrel, how do you plan to pay for it? The government official, who asked not to be identified, said as much.

The issue is not a lack of interest on the part of businesses. Ability and motivation are key. If you are unable to make a payment, your ability to purchase will be revoked,” the official warned.

Due to western sanctions, Indian refiners are already having trouble paying for Russian deliveries.

The State Bank ofIndia refused to give payment to the Indian Oil Corp. due to western sanctions on the shipping agency, the official claimed, thus the company was forced to make a payment in Chinese yuan.

According to the official, Iraq is ready to increase oil exports to India and offer deeper discounts, and New Delhi is now in talks with Baghdad to increase India’s credit duration with Iraq from 60 to 90 days.

Also Read : Adani’s go-to bankers at Barclays turn cautious after Hindenburg

After increasing their purchases of Russian oil last year, Indian refineries have pushed Iraq down to second place.

Instead of being caught up in a $1 discount per barrel from a company to which making payment is difficult, the official recommended instead taking advantage of a longer credit period from a regular supplier.

A second refinery source confirmed that their company will not purchase Russian oil at the higher price. We are aware that discounts are decreasing, but he did not specify what the discounts might be for September loading cargoes.

“Tonight, a massive attack by Iranian drones took place,” the military administration of Kyiv announced via Telegram.

Iran-made Shahed explosives “entered the capital from different directions,” the report stated, adding that “about a dozen” were intercepted in the city’s airspace. Thursday, according to Kyiv, two cruise missiles and twenty Russian attack drones were destroyed.

Air force spokesperson Yuriy Ignat stated, “Our air defense operation is successful.” “Twenty Shaheds were annihilated; every flying Shahed was shot down. He added that two Kalibr cruise missiles were also annihilated.

Debris precipitates on districts

It was reported that drone detritus had fallen in five districts and that a 23-year-old man and 19-year-old woman were hospitalized with shrapnel wounds.

Two persons were injured in Darnytsky district “as a result of falling debris,” wrote Sergiy Popko, the head of Kyiv’s military administration, on Telegram. However, it was unclear whether the two hospitalized individuals mentioned were the same male and woman.

In the Solomyansky, Shevchenkivsky, Podilsky, and Darnytsky districts, emergency services responded to frantic calls following “explosions in the capital,” as stated by the mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko.

“During firefighting in an apartment building in the Podilsky district, the body of a deceased person was discovered,” Klitschko wrote on Telegram.

Two persons were “hospitalized” in the Darnytsky district after falling debris damaged a residential building, according to Klitschko.

Klitschko stated that two others were treated at the site in the Shevchenkivsky district.

In the Shevchenkivsky district, an apartment building caught fire, and in the Podilsky district, a commercial building caught fire, he said, adding that emergency services rushed to the scene.

The military administration of Kiev posted a picture on Telegram depicting a room in a high-rise building with a wall that appears to have been blasted out, which was reportedly caused by falling debris in the Darnytsky district.

Ukraine’s Air Force issued a warning about the continued risk of Russian drone attacks on the city.

Ukraine’s advancement close to Bakhmut

Deputy Ukrainian Defense Minister Hanna Maliar reported on Telegram from the front lines: “In the Bakhmut sector, we attacked today on the southern flank surrounding Bakhmut. There is progress. Our defenders are reinforcing their existing positions.”

Ukrainian forces, according to Maliar, repelled a Russian attempt to advance on cities in the west and north.

Air India will send a replacement aircraft to transport 216 passengers and 16 crew members detained in Magadan, Russia, after their Delhi-San Francisco flight was forced to land due to a problem with one of its engines, the airline said.

Air India said in a statement released this morning that the replacement flight will depart from Mumbai’subject to necessary regulatory clearances’ on Wednesday afternoon and will transport food and other essentials for passengers.

Air India also stated that due to limited infrastructure at and around the airport in Magadan, which is on Russia’s eastern coast and over 10,000 km from Moscow’s capital, stranded passengers were moved to’makeshift accommodations after making sincere attempts to accommodate passengers in hotels locally…’

Due to the absence of Air India personnel in the remote town of Magadan or in Russia, all ground support provided to passengers in this unusual circumstance is of the highest quality imaginable. Air India said. The airline also stated that it is collaborating with the Consulate General of India in Vladivostok (approximately 4,900 kilometers from Magadan), the Russian authorities, and local officials.

According to the Russian aviation authority Rosaviatsia, the aircraft will land early Thursday morning.

What did the Indian government say?

The minister of civil aviation, Jyotiraditya Scindia, is closely monitoring the situation, the ministry said this morning, adding that it is in constant contact with the airline. The ministry also reported that AI informed them that some passengers were lodged in a school near the airport.

What happened to Air India flight AI173?

The aircraft was a wide-body Boeing 777 that was obliged to land in Magadan due to a problem with one of its engines. Currently, the aircraft is undergoing safety inspections.

The details of the engine’s ‘technical issue’ have not been disclosed.

What did the US government say?

The spokesman for the State Department, Vedant Patel, stated that there were undoubtedly American citizens on the flight, but he could not confirm the exact number.

It was a flight bound for the United States, so it is plausible that there are American citizens on board… He stated that we are continuing to monitor the situation.

What do passengers say?

Girvaan Kaahma, age 16, was traveling with his uncle and sibling on the flight. The Associated Press reports that they and other passengers are prohibited from exiting the hostel where they are staying.

In addition, they cannot use their credit cards to purchase items from vending machines or stores due to American sanctions imposed in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Kpler data indicates that India has become Europe’s largest supplier of refined fuels this month, while concurrently purchasing record quantities of Russian crude.

Since the embargo on Russian oil, Europe’s dependence on crude oil from India has increased. Kpler’s data indicate that Europe’s imports of refined fuel from India will surpass 360,000 barrels per day, edging clear of those from Saudi Arabia.

The development has both advantages and disadvantages for the European Union. On the one hand, the EU requires alternative sources of diesel now that it has severed direct ties with Russia, its former leading supplier. However, this ultimately increases the demand for Moscow’s casks and increases shipping costs.

It also means more competition for Europe’s oil refiners, who cannot access inexpensive Russian crude, and it comes amid heightened market surveillance regarding the origin of the region’s diesel imports.

According to Kpler data, Russian crude oil imports to India are expected to surpass 2 million barrels per day in April, representing nearly 44 percent of the country’s total oil imports.

Russia became India’s largest supplier for the first time in 2022-23 (FY23) as a result of its discounted oil sales during the Ukraine conflict. Despite Western concerns regarding India’s imports from Russia during the conflict. India has adopted a firm stance and stated that it is exploring all available options to attain energy security.

Despite the western price limit of USD 60 per barrel, Russia was the largest exporter of crude oil to India by value in February, according to data from the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry. In February, crude imports from Russia totaled $3.35 billion, followed by Saudi Arabia at $2.30 billion and Iraq at $2.05 billion.

The price ceiling maintained by western nations was intended to limit Russian oil revenues while keeping oil circulating to prevent a global price shock.

Monday, the Russian Deputy PM and Minister of Industry and Trade , Denis Valentinovich Manturov, said that “we need to boost trade with India” in order to reduce Russia’s merchandise trade deficit with India.

Russian Deputy PM and Minister Manturov said that “We need to boost trade with India” and are pursuing a balance similar to that with China.” We have $200 billion in trade with China, and it’s balanced,” said Manturov regarding the trade and remittances issue between India and Russia.

India and Russia are negotiating a free trade agreement, a move that would further strengthen the bilateral economic relations that have flourished since the Ukraine conflict.

Notably, the trade boom between China and Russia has increased the use of the Chinese renminbi. In 2022, China’s total exports to Russia reached $76.12 billion, an increase of over 12 percent from the previous year.

As a consequence of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Western sanctions have harmed its economy, resulting in an increase in Yuan usage.

Russia is now an uncommon example of a country adopting the renminbi as a reserve currency rather than the U.S. dollar or the euro.

In March, Russian President Vladimir Putin endorsed the expansion of the renminbi’s international use. During a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, he expressed support for “the use of the yuan in payments between Russia and countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America,” as reported by TASS.

Manturov is in India for two days to co-chair the Intergovernmental Russian-Indian Commission, which aims to strengthen trade ties between the two nations.

The IRIGC-TEC is the principal institution for monitoring economic cooperation. It consists of six working groups on economic and trade cooperation, industrial modernization and cooperation, energy, tourism and culture, science, technology, and information technology.

The intergovernmental commission (IGC) will hold a plenary meeting on Tuesday, after which the co-chairs will ratify the final protocol for the 24th IGC meeting.

The parties intend to discuss bilateral commercial, economic, and humanitarian cooperation. Manturov will also participate in a number of bilateral meetings, according to a tweet from the Russian Embassy in India.

Several institutionalized mechanisms for the development of economic cooperation between the two countries have been established. IRIGC-TEC is the primary institution at the government level.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Manturov co-chaired the IRIGC-TEC virtual meeting last month.

Russia hits Ukraine with missiles: As Vladimir Putin bid farewell to Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday, Russia hits Ukraine with missiles, drones overnight as a show of force. According to a report, one person was slain and at least 33 others were injured when two Russian missiles struck two tall residential buildings in Zaporizhzhia, captured on video.

As one of the buildings exploded, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy tweeted, “Right now, residential areas where ordinary people and children live are under attack.”

“This cannot become another ordinary day in Ukraine or anywhere else in the globe. “The world needs greater unity and resolve to defeat Russian terrorism and save lives more quickly,” he wrote.A nearby playground and parking lot were littered with broken glass, detritus, and wrecked vehicles. Reuters reported that emergency personnel carried out the injured and escorted those who could walk.

After a drone struck two college dormitories in Rzhyshchiv, a riverside town south of the capital Kyiv, at least four people were murdered, 20 were injured, and four are still missing.During the night, drones swarmed the Ukrainian capital and large portions of the north. According to the Ukrainian military, 16 of 21 Iranian suicide drones were brought down.

All of this occurred as Putin was tendering farewell to his “dear friend” Xi Jinping, who was in Moscow on a state visit.Zelenskyy wrote, ostensibly in reference to Xi Jinping’s visit to the Russian capital, “Every time someone tries to hear the word ‘peace’ in Moscow, another order for such criminal strikes is issued.”

Vladimir Putin’s hosting of Xi Jinping in Moscow this week was his most significant diplomatic move since he launched the conflict more than a year ago. The two men referred to one another as “dear friend,” vowed economic cooperation, condemned the West, and described the state of their relationship as the best it had ever been. The conflict in Ukraine was not mentioned in Xi Jinping’s statement.

HOW LONG WILL THE WAR LAST?

Ukraine has maintained that peace is impossible without Russia’s withdrawal from occupied territory. Moscow asserts that Kyiv must acknowledge territorial “reality,” referring to Russia’s claim that it has annexed nearly one-fifth of Ukraine.

After Ukraine recaptured territory, including Kherson, in the latter part of 2022, Russia launched a massive winter offensive utilising hundreds of thousands of newly activated reservists and mercenaries recruited from prison.Despite the most intense fighting of the conflict, the front line has hardly shifted in the past four months.

Russia’s only notable gains have been near Bakhmut, but Kyiv has decided not to withdraw there in recent weeks, claiming that its defenders are inflicting sufficient losses on the Russian assailants to justify holding out.

Once additional Western weapons, such as battle tanks, arrive in Kiev, the Ukrainian military command is likely to commence a spring counteroffensive. In essence, there is no apparent conclusion.

Russia still India’s major weapons supplier: The difficulty for Prime Minister Narendra Modi in recalibrating New Delhi’s reliance on Moscow while its borders with China and Pakistan remain tense is highlighted by the fact that Russia remains India’s major weapons supplier despite the country’s drastic reduction in purchases.

According to a report by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, an independent think tank that studies conflict, weapon sales, and disarmament, Russian weapon imports decreased by 19% for the five-year period beginning in 2018 compared to the preceding period.

Russia was the largest supplier of arms to India from 2013 to 2017 and from 2018 to 2022, but its proportion of total Indian arms imports decreased from 64% to 45%, according to the most recent report published on Monday.

One of the reasons for New Delhi’s neutral posture on Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine, despite pressure from the United States, Japan, and Australia, is India’s reliance on Russia for arms. The South Asian nation has supported calls for a ceasefire and a diplomatic solution to end Russia’s conflict, but it has abstained from votes condemning Russia’s invasion at the United Nations. Additionally, it has continued to purchase inexpensive Russian oil.

Since 1993, India has been the largest importer of arms in the world, and “tensions with Pakistan and China primarily drive its demand for arms imports,” according to a report. The SIPRI report added that the decrease in purchases from Russia was a result of sanctions on Russia affecting arms exports, increased defence equipment manufacturing in India, and increased competition from countries such as France, whose arms exports to New Delhi increased by an astounding 489% over the same period.

Russia withdraws nuclear treaty:Today, Russian President Vladimir Putin made the announcement that Russia would be withdrawing from the New START deal with the United States. This treaty places restrictions on the strategic nuclear arsenals of both countries.

Putin told lawmakers near the end of a major speech he delivered to parliament nearly one year into the conflict in Ukraine that Russia is suspending its participation in the strategic offensive arms treaty because “in this regard, I am forced to announce today that Russia is suspending its participation in the treaty.”

The New START deal was initially signed in Prague in 2010, put into effect the following year, and then extended for an additional five years in 2021, just after Joe Biden was sworn in as President of the United States.

It sets a limit on the number of strategic nuclear warheads that can be deployed by both the United States and Russia, as well as the number of land-, submarine-, and air-based missiles and bombers that can deliver those warheads.

According to the estimates of many analysts, Russia possesses the greatest nuclear arsenal in the world, which includes close to 6,000 nuclear warheads. The United States and Russia own almost 90 percent of all the nuclear warheads in the world, which is enough to obliterate the globe a great number of times over.

Residents of the mining settlement frequently witness the temperature consistently fall well below minus 40. The city is situated on the permafrost in the Russian Far East, 5,000 kilometres east of Moscow.
