The expected support from China to counteract economic growth and optimism over moderating US inflation figures also contribute to the upbeat outlook. Given the optimistic profits forecast for FY24, India’s current value is reasonable (although slightly over the long-term average).

Stocks in the auto, cap ex, power, and consumer staples sectors saw buying as optimism was buoyed by positive global cues. However, investors may need to prepare for increased intraday volatility in the days leading up to the FOMC meeting of the US Federal Reserve on July 26. The Nifty has created a double top pattern on intraday charts, a technical indicator of short-term weakness. If intraday traders can get the market to break over 19500, it has the potential to rise to the 19600-19625 zone. Below 19380, however, sellers are likely to gain momentum, and the index may revisit the 19300-19250 area.

The index has run into a wall of resistance around 45200, which has been tough to break through thus far.The current index price is very close to a significant support area, which lies between 44800 and 44750. The 20-day moving average (DMA) is located in the 44500-44000 level, thus a break there would likely trigger a continuation lower.Recently, the Bank Nifty index has been trading in a rather tight range of 44500–45500. For traders, the best course of action is to capitalize on any opportunities that arise, whether they be on the upside or the downside, during a range-bound market.

The whole point of diversity is to cut down on potential losses. When the cycle swings downward, if all your assets are headed in the same direction, you may expect a loss across the board. In the event of a global downturn in the metal cycle, for instance, a portfolio that is heavily weighted toward metal equities stands to lose the most. Diversifying your portfolio with investments that aren’t perfectly correlated will help you sleep easier at night. Let’s look at a simplified example of portfolio diversification using just two assets that are uncorrelated with one another. As a result, if the returns on one asset go up, the returns on the other asset will go down. You can sketch the correlation between diversification and..

Over time, this causes returns on average to rise. That’s what we call the “umbrella asset” + “sunscreen asset” combination. This advantage occurs as a result of merging portfolios A and B.

Two distinct forms of risk allow for effective diversification. Unique assets, industries, or topics provide the unsystematic risk. By pooling together assets with either negative or low correlations, this can be lowered to almost nothing. These include things like the possibility of a rise in interest rates or bond yields, the possibility of labor unrest in some sectors, the possibility of a downturn in the commodity cycle, and so on. However, systemic risk affects every type of investment. All investments should be avoided during times of political unpredictability, slowing GDP growth, or increased global geopolitical risk.

To begin, diversification can only be used for unsystematic risk. Diversifying across asset classes does not protect you from systematic risk. Second, even if you successfully diversify your portfolio, you will still be exposed to some degree of unsystematic risk. Unsystematic danger can only be mitigated to a great extent. Finally, increasing the number of assets can only help so much. Beyond that point, all that happens is a replacement of risks, therefore the level of unsystematic risk is also constant.

How to go about the process of diversification..

To reduce your exposure to financial uncertainty, please follow this rational procedure.

Diversify among asset classes

Investing in multiple different types of assets is the first step. This is why a diversified portfolio including stocks, bonds, ETFs, index funds, gold, real estate, overseas assets, etc. is essential. This lowers the risk of your portfolio as a whole by distributing it across a wider variety of investments. The first step in diversifying your portfolio is to decide which asset categories you’d like it to hold.

Diversify within debt based on quality

Next, you should diversify within debt on the basis of asset quality once you have established debt as an asset class and mapped out the total exposure to debt. Investing in risk-free government assets and state government securities both have their benefits and drawbacks. The next level up is corporate debt. You must make a decision as to the appropriate allocation of capital between AAA-rated corporate debt and AA-rated corporate debt. Avoid going below AA if at all possible, as doing so carries a larger default risk along with better rewards.

What do we mean when we talk about duration-based debt diversification? Your liquidity requirements are the key to understanding. Therefore, you should have a mix of both liquid and debt funds in your portfolio. How proportion of a debt fund’s holdings should be longer- and shorter-term investments? That depends on your interest rate forecast. Your choice of diversification mix should be based on the expected negative reaction of long maturity bonds to rising bond yields.

Diversify within equity by Sectors

Capital goods, consumer products, pharmaceuticals, the information technology industry, etc. are all examples of sectors. Each of these fields need its own special characteristics. When the building industry picks up, some materials, like cement and steel, benefit. When interest rates fall, it helps the banking sector and the equities of financial institutions. When the commodity cycle rises, industries like oil and steel profit. Investing wisely in a spread of these markets can help spread your risk.

Diversify within equity by themes

What makes themes distinct from industries? In reality, though, themes can extend to many other fields. Let’s take rate sensitivity as an example. Declining interest rates are good for industries like banking, NBFCs, autos, and real estate. It is important to avoid excessive exposure to any single theme when diversifying by theme. Tractors, motorcycles, fast food, consumer packaged goods, fertilizer, hybrid seeds, and other agricultural inputs all benefit from increased rural earnings. Your strategy for diversification must take this into account.

Diversify by companies

Finally, diversification within firms along a number of different themes is essential. Consider a few examples. Businesses with strong operating margins and asset turnover rates should be merged. Similarly, you should diversify your portfolio by holding both high growth stocks and dividend-paying firms. This synergy will guarantee a beneficial final result.

One of the cornerstones of investment is diversification, one of the simplest and most fundamental ways to mitigate loss. That’s the first step in making a portfolio.

Read Also : TOP 10 FINANCIAL MAGAZINES IN INDIA IN 2023

In this piece, we’ll take a closer look at who retail investors in an IPO are and what else you should know about them. Let’s begin.

Who are Retail Investors in an IPO?

The SEBI defines “retail investors” as those who invest less than or equal to Rs. 2 lakhs in an IPO. Such financiers are typically low-net-worth people who lack the financial resources of huge organizations. Individuals who are both Indian citizens and permanent residents of other countries, as well as Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs), are all considered retail investors.

Things You Need to Know About Retail Investors in an IPO

Now that you know who retail investors in an IPO are, it’s time to learn some important details about them.

The amount that they can invest is capped

As you can see from the table above, the maximum amount an individual can invest in an IPO as a retail investor is Rs. 2 lakhs. Accordingly, anybody looking to invest more than Rs. 2 lakhs will no longer be considered retail investors. Instead, they will be labeled as High Net Worth Individuals (HNIs) and denied access to normal investors’ perks.

Typically, retail investors are given access to about 35% of the public issue.

This proportion, however, is only available to businesses that have consistently turned a profit for the past three years. A corporation that does not meet this requirement may only make available for retail investor subscription around 10% of the whole issue.

A lock-in period beginning on the date of listing on stock markets is standard for all Initial Public Offerings of firms. During the lock-in period, early investors such as angel investors, VCs, and firm insiders cannot sell their shares on the open market. In contrast to institutional investors, retail investors do not have to wait until the IPO lock-in period has ended before selling any shares they received as a result of applying for the issue.

Conclusion

I hope this helps clarify who the retail investors in an initial public offering are. If you want to be considered a retail investor in a future IPO, you should not invest more than Rs. 2 lakhs.

Be prepared for the initial public offering by opening a Demat account in your name. If you don’t already have a Demat account, you may open one with Motilal Oswal online in just a few minutes.

Introduction

The Indian stock exchange is a dynamic and growing market. Successfully navigating a dynamic environment requires a firm grasp of fundamental concepts like the Last Traded Price (LTP). Understanding the LTP and how it affects investment choices in the Indian stock market is the focus of this essay.

What is the Last Traded Price?

The LTP is the last transaction price at which a stock was purchased or sold. The stock’s current market value is a critical piece of information for investors to have. The LTP is dynamic, representing the ongoing buying and selling in the market as it happens.

What are the Factors Influencing the LTP?

The stock market’s LTP is affected by a number of variables. Supply and demand interplay, which is an important element. When there is a lot of interest in a stock, buyers are willing to pay a higher price, which drives up the LTP. When demand is low and supply is high, however, the LTP often falls. Through their buy and sell orders, institutional investors, retail investors, and market makers all contribute to the overall price movement in the market. The Long-Term Price (LTP) can also be affected by market emotion, news, and external variables like economic statistics and government actions.

How does LTP impact Market Depth?

Another important factor that influences the LTP is market depth. The “market depth” is the total number of purchase and sell orders at all price points. The LTP is indicative of the price at which orders are executed, hence it is highly correlated with market depth. When there are more buy and sell orders at different prices, the market is said to be more liquid. Because of this liquidity, deals may be executed more quickly and with smaller spreads between the bid and ask prices.

How Does LTP Affect Stock Price Trends?

The LTP is essential for analyzing stock price trends on the Indian stock exchange. Traders and investors can obtain insight into the current market sentiment by monitoring the LTP. A consistently climbing LTP may be indicative of a bullish trend, indicating that the stock’s demand and value are on the rise. In contrast, a declining LTP may signify a bearish trend, indicating a decline in market interest. It is essential to note, however, that analyzing stock price trends solely based on the LTP may not provide a complete picture. Utilize the LTP in conjunction with other technical analysis indicators to make prudent trading decisions.

What are the Limitations of the LTP?

It’s possible that the LTP isn’t always a reliable indicator of a stock’s actual value. Inconsistencies may be the result of low trading volumes, illiquid markets, or large bid-ask spreads. Furthermore, the LTP might be momentarily distorted by abrupt price swings in times of market volatility. Additional measures, such as average traded price and trading volume, should be used to acquire a more complete view of a stock’s worth in order to compensate for these shortcomings.

Does LTP have an impact on Trading Strategies?

The LTP is an integral component of numerous trading strategies utilized on the Indian stock exchange. The LTP is closely monitored by day traders who seek to profit from short-term price fluctuations in order to make prompt purchasing and selling decisions. When the LTP coincides with their desired entry and exit points, they may search for opportunities. Swing traders concentrate on intermediate-term trends and may use the LTP to identify potential stock price turning points. Long-term investors evaluate stocks based on their fundamentals and long-term growth potential, while also contemplating the LTP to determine the most favorable entry or exit points.

Conclusion

Understanding the LTP is essential for active Indian stock market participants. The LTP provides valuable insight into the most recent transaction price of a stock, thereby facilitating in the determination of its current market value. Although the LTP is helpful for analyzing stock price trends and making trading decisions, it should be used in conjunction with other metrics and indicators for a comprehensive evaluation. By evaluating the LTP alongside market depth, trading strategies, and external factors, investors and traders can navigate the Indian stock market more effectively, resulting in more informed investment decisions.

The word “stock market” refers to a collection of exchanges across the world where shares of publicly traded firms can be purchased and sold. These kinds of financial dealings are transacted via conventional exchanges and over-the-counter (OTC) marketplaces, both of which are governed by a predetermined set of norms and are used interchangeably.

The terms “stock market” and “stock exchange” are frequently used synonymously with one another. Traders in the stock market will either purchase or sell shares of a company’s stock on one or more of the stock exchanges that are a component of the larger stock market.

The leading Indian stock exchanges include the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange(BSE).

Stock markets are venues where buyers and sellers meet to exchange equity shares of public corporations.

Stock markets are components of a free-market economy because they enable democratized access to investor trading and exchange of capital.

Stock markets create efficient price discovery and efficient dealing.

The Indian stock market is regulated by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and local regulatory bodies.

Introduction to the Indian Stock Market

The stock market is a major investment destination. The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) are the two main stock markets in India. An initial public offering (IPO) is a company’s first listing of its shares on a stock exchange. After that, these shares can be traded among investors on the secondary market.

Stocks worth INR 6,000,000,000.00 have been traded at times between the two Indian stock exchanges. Those who are unfamiliar with the share market in India may view investment in equities as a form of gambling.

Regulation of the Indian Stock Markets

The Securities and Exchange Board of India is in charge of enforcing the rules and maintaining order in the country’s stock exchanges. As a separate agency with authority to perform stock exchange inspections, SEBI was established by the SEBI Act of 1992. The market’s operations, as well as the structure and administration of the business, are inspected. SEBI’s primary functions are:

Ensuring a fair and equitable market for investors to grow in

Compliance of the exchange organization, the system its practices in accordance with the rules framed under the Securities Contracts (Regulation) Act (SC(R) Act), 1956

Ensure implementation of the guidelines and directions issued by the SEBI

Check if the exchange has complied with all the conditions and has renewed the grants, if needed, under Section 4 of the SC(R) Act of 1956.

Types of Share Markets

There are two kinds of share markets namely the Primary and Secondary Markets.

Primary Share Market

In order to issue shares and raise capital, companies must first register with the primary market. Listing on a stock market is another name for this procedure. When a firm sells its shares to the public for the first time, it is called an Initial Public Offering (IPO) and enters the primary market to raise capital. The company will then be open to the public.

Secondary Market

Once the new securities are sold in the main market, the shares of a corporation are traded in the secondary market. Investors can get out by selling their stock at this time. Trades are the name given to these exchanges on the secondary market. Trading occurs when investors buy and sell among themselves at a predetermined price. A broker acts as a go-between in these exchanges.

How do the Share Markets work

Understanding the Stock Exchange Platform

Trading in stocks and other financial instruments like derivatives takes place on a stock market. The Securities and Exchange Board of India oversees all trading that takes place on this exchange. In order to trade on the stock market, players must first register with SEBI and the stock exchange. Brokering, corporate stock issuance, and similar activities are all considered trading activities.

Listing of the Company in the Secondary Market

In an Initial Public Offering, or IPO, a company’s stock is sold to the public for the first time. Investors who put winning bids prior to the stock’s listing receive a proportional allocation of the shares.

Trading in the Secondary Market

Once the company has been listed, stocks can be traded in the secondary market by the investors. This is the marketplace for the buyers and sellers to transact and make profits or in some cases, losses.

Stock Brokers

Because of the magnitude of investors who number in the thousands, it is difficult to have them assemble at one location. Therefore, to conduct trade, stockbrokers and brokerage firms come into the picture.

These are entities that are registered with the Stock Exchange and serve as intermediaries between the investors and the exchange itself. When you place an order to buy any share at a given rate, the broker processes it at the exchange where there are multiple parties involved.

Passing of your order

Your broker will submit your buy order to the exchange, where it will be paired with a sell order for the same security. When both the vendor and the buyer settle on a price and confirm the order, the transaction is complete.

Settlement

After you agree on a price, the exchange will double-check the particulars to make sure the deal goes through without a hitch. Settlement is the process by which the exchange officially transfers ownership of the shares. Once this occurs, you will be notified. The brokers’ order desk, the exchange’s floor traders, and others must all be in on this message’s transmission.

Whereas settlement used to take weeks to materialize, it now occurs on T+2 days. If you make a deal today, the shares should appear in your Demat account by the end of the next business day. There are market dangers associated with investing in stocks. Seek professional advice before making any financial commitments. If you’re looking for a mutual fund, ClearTax is the place to go to find one that fits your needs.

Intraday trading is unique from what investors do on the stock market and is a much riskier approach to investing money there. If you are a beginner at this, it is crucial to fully understand the fundamental analysis and most effective tactics to prevent any losses and make lots of money quickly.

A simple recommendation for those just getting started in intraday trading and in urgent need of stock tips or stock market tips is to invest what you can afford to lose without upsetting your financial circumstances.

Also Read: How To Deal With Stress

Depending on how effectively the trader uses stock market methods and fundamentals, intraday trading can result in either good profits or losses for the investor.

The ability of intraday trading to entice traders to leverage price swings is one of its strongest features. Just invest and keep an eye on it. However, intraday trading might result in losses if the proper methods and tactics are not employed.

1. News trading

A news trading technique involves trading before and after news releases depending on information and market expectations. Trading announcements, especially the stock market in India have their alibis and information traveling from the media effectively and immediately. Keeping an eye out here will benefit you immensely.

2. End Of The Day Trading

This tactic requires comparing today’s price action to yesterday’s price changes. After that, end-of-day traders can deduce potential price movements from the price action and choose which indicators to include in their system.

3. Swing Trading

Swing trading is a kind of trading in which gains are sought over some few days to a few weeks in a stock (or any other financial asset). Technical analysis is one of the main tools and help that is used by the people in the stock market of India to find various opportunities for buying and selling their stock.

Intraday Trading Tips For Beginners

Selling and buying shares in the day to attain profits is known as intraday trading, commonly referred to as day trading.

In other words, by placing an intraday order to purchase or sell shares, you can profit from price changes during that specific trading day and close out your investment before the close of business. The goal of intraday traders is to make quick, short-term gains.

Many intraday traders need more tried-and-true day trading techniques. As a result, they frequently lose money when they rely solely on online advice. Instead of ambiguous intraday trading advice, you need a solid intraday trading method that acts as a day trading roadmap.

Here are some tips for you to start intraday trading:

1. Liquid Stocks Are Important

It would suck if you try to sell stocks and nobody is even close to buying them. Therefore, to avoid this, you need to stop selling and buying stocks that are not liquid and are small-cap and mid-cap stocks. If you do so, there are high possibility of your stocks not getting sold off, and squaring off your order might not be carried out, requiring you to accept delivery in its place.

Liquidity is the most crucial factor to consider before choosing a specific stock to trade in.

2. Have A Fixed Entry And Exit Price

The buyer’s mistake affects a lot of stock investors and traders. False ideas deceive them. When this happens, the buyer begins to doubt their decision and has second thoughts. The trader in question here would get the idea that the stock market choice of theirs were not a certain one and that this indecisiveness may affect them in the long run.

So, decide the exit and entry price before establishing a trade to avoid making similar trading errors.

3. Close When You Reach The Target

Every intraday trader’s nemesis is greed.

You might wonder why. It is because, mainly, if the economy is unstable, it only takes a few moments for the industry to change sides.

Margin and leverage help to increase earnings. But once that goal is attained, the difficulty is to avoid being greedy. If you have already gotten past your ideal target, let it be and stop trading more otherwise the risks for falling down from there are even higher.

Stop being greedy and losing more!

Conclusion

Stock market investing may be quite profitable, particularly if you steer clear of some of the common mistakes that new investors make when they first start out. Beginners should develop a successful investing strategy and stick with it through good and bad times.

Individual and institutional day traders both contribute significantly to the market by maintaining its efficiency and liquidity.

You might be able to increase your odds of trading profitably with just enough experience, skill development, and regular performance evaluation.

Investing in the stock market is very risky, but if you are ready to take the risk, you can become a millionaire and a millionaire from a millionaire in a few months or years. Your money can be doubled. If you make a fixed deposit of your money in the bank for 7 to 30 days. So in this case you will get a maximum return of 3.5%. Means your 1 lakh rupees will become 103500 rupees after one month. On the other hand, if you invest 1 lakh rupees in the shares of these banks before 1 month, then your money can be up to 2.5 lakhs

Bank fd vs bank shares

Let us tell you that, you can see the comparison of 1 month returns of shares and FDs of some public sector banks. Just like Uco Bank is paying 2.9 percent interest on fixed deposits for 7 to 29 days, the same bank’s stock has given a return of 145 percent in 1 month. Similarly, the Central Bank of India has given a return of 76 per cent to its equity investors during this period, while 3.25 per cent on FD. State Bank of India has given equal returns in both.

People have lost their confidence about banking work. So it is better to invest in share market.

Must take expert opinion

If you are going to invest money anywhere. Before this, you must take the opinion of a market expert. If you are going to invest money in shares, then you must keep in mind that it is not necessary that your money will always increase. Many occasions come when your money can also be drowned. Money does not sink in the same fixed deposit in the bank. You get decent interest.
