As a series of extreme storms continue to batter California, at least 17 people have been killed and a five-year-old boy is still missing.

Since they began pounding the state a week ago, the storms have been responsible for the loss of more lives than the wildfires that occurred over the previous two years combined.

Flood warnings are still in effect for approximately 22 million people across the state of California and parts of the state of Oregon, as it appears that the atmospheric river will continue to dump heavy precipitation across the region.
