Thursday, nine soldiers were slain in a volatile region of western Pakistan when a suicide bomber rammed his motorcycle into their military convoy and detonated it, according to the army and officials.

Since the Taliban’s return to power in neighboring Afghanistan two years ago, there has been a dramatic increase in border region assaults in Pakistan.

A motorcycle-borne suicide bomber detonated himself 61 kilometers (38 miles) from the frontier in Pakistan’s Bannu district, according to the army’s media arm.

The border region has long been a hotbed of militant activity, with hardline groups such as Pakistan’s homegrown Taliban group, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), using the largely unpoliced border to elude detection and stage attacks.

“The suicide bomber was riding a motorcycle and rammed his bike into a truck in a military convoy,” provincial minister Feroze Jamal Shah told AFP.

The Pakistani army stated that five additional soldiers were injured in the attack near the town of Jani Khel, but Shah placed the number at twenty.

Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, caretaker prime minister, described the incident as “a cowardly terrorist act.”

The TTP is the greatest menace in the region, and Islamabad claims that its fighters have found refuge in Afghanistan.

The group has waged a campaign against security personnel, including police officers, in recent months.

In January, a suicide bomber with ties to the TTP blew himself up in a mosque inside a police compound in Peshawar, northwest Pakistan, murdering more than 80 officers.

The Islamic State group has also been active in the country, claiming responsibility for a suicide bombing at a political party gathering last month that killed at least 54 people, including 23 minors.

Pakistan was once plagued by near-daily bombings, but beginning in 2014, a significant military clearance operation in the former tribal areas restored order to a large extent.

After the passage of legislation in 2018, the seven bordering Afghanistan districts, including Bannu, were brought under the jurisdiction of Pakistani authorities.

The return of Taliban authorities to Afghanistan, according to analysts, has emboldened militants in the formerly tribal regions.

In the meantime, Pakistan is dealing with a deteriorating security situation, an economic decline, and political turmoil, with elections for a new government scheduled for the coming months, but no official date yet established.

Mohammad Akif Mahajar, spokesman for the Taliban Ministry of Vice and Virtue, was quoted by local news as saying that the Taliban have issued a new verbal decree bans women’s beauty salons in Kabul and other provinces.

In addition, the ministry has ordered the Kabul municipality to implement the Taliban leader’s new decree and revoke the licenses of women’s beauty salons.

Raihan Mubariz, a makeup artist, shared their plight with local News channel: “The males are unemployed. When men are unable to provide for their families, the women are compelled to labor in a beauty salon for bread. What can we do if they are prohibited there?

Another makeup artist stated, “We will not leave the house if the men have jobs.” What should we do? What should we do if we perish of starvation? You want us to perish.”

Since the Taliban came to power, girls and women have been prohibited from attending schools, universities, and working for non-governmental organizations (NGOs), as well as from visiting parks, cinemas, and other public areas. In Herat province, the Taliban prohibited families and women from entering establishments with gardens or green spaces earlier in April. According to Afghan government officials, the decision was made due to gender mingling or because women allegedly do not wear the hijab.

Other restrictions that the Taliban imposed on women include preventing females from attending classes beyond the sixth grade, prohibiting women from attending universities, restricting most employment opportunities, such as jobs at the United Nations, and prohibiting women from going to the gym. Women in the country are also prohibited from holding leadership positions, working, and traveling without a male companion.

Abdul Khabir, a resident of Kabul, stated, “The government should create a framework for it.” The framework should ensure that neither Islam nor the country is harmed.”

The Taliban’s imposition of restrictions on Afghan girls and women has prompted both national and international responses.

The Afghan embassy in the Indian capital has become the site of a dispute between diplomats of the former republic and the current administration in Kabul, with the Taliban appointing as chargé d’affaires a person believed to be close to Haqqani Network leaders.

People familiar with the situation have described the matter as a “internal affair” of Afghanistan in which New Delhi has no involvement. There has been no official statement from the Indian side regarding the differences that became public over the weekend. As with the rest of the world, India does not officially recognize the Taliban government that took office in August 2021.

Since the overthrow of the Ashraf Ghani administration in 2021, the Afghan embassy has been lead by a dwindling group of diplomats under the direction of Farid Mamundzay, who was appointed ambassador in September 2020. Despite the Taliban’s 14 attempts over the past two years to remove the ambassador and other officials, the situation reportedly came to a climax in April, when Mamundzay was visiting his family abroad.

Trade counsellor Qadir Shah, who was also appointed by the previous administration and sent to New Delhi in March 2020, was named “chargé d’affaires” on April 25 by Taliban foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, and Mamundzay was instructed to return to Kabul.

People say that on April 28 a note verbale or unsigned diplomatic correspondence was sent to the external affairs ministry regarding Shah’s appointment. Until recently, Shah was clean-shaven and wore suits, but he has since grown a goatee and abandoned Western attire. The Indian party has made no official statement regarding this correspondence.

The other Afghan diplomats refused to recognize Shah as their leader on April 29, and expelled him from the mission. People say that since Mamundzay’s return to New Delhi on May 1, Shah has been denied entry to the mission on three separate occasions.

Shah is from Afghanistan’s Khost province, a Haqqani Network stronghold. His father is considered close to former Haqqani Network commander Mali Khan, who is the maternal uncle of senior Taliban leader Sirajuddin Haqqani. Khan is the current deputy chief of staff of the Taliban armed forces, and Angar has reportedly advocated for his son’s appointment to a high position in New Delhi, according to the sources.

Mamundzay declined to comment on the developments, and a statement issued by the Afghan embassy on Monday denied “claims from an individual to have taken charge of the mission at the Taliban’s request.” The statement added that this person was “responsible for spreading false information and running a baseless and unsubstantiated campaign against mission officials, including completely fabricated allegations of corruption based on an unsigned letter.”

This was an apparent reference to reports in Afghan media citing an anonymous letter from “Afghan refugees” that accused Mamundzay and other diplomats of corruption.

In addition, the Afghan embassy’s statement informed Afghan nationals that the “mission continues to operate normally and represent their interests in India.” It also commended the Indian government’s consistent stance of supporting the Afghan people’s interests and “not recognising the Taliban regime in Kabul, as has been the case with democratic countries.”

People stated that the incident illustrates the complexities of India’s relationship with the Taliban. India deployed a “technical team” to Kabul in June 2022 to reestablish a presence there, despite not recognizing the Afghan government’s current structure. Officials from India have also traveled to Kabul to confer with senior Taliban figures such as Muttaqi and Sirajuddin Haqqani.

The Taliban have been able to appoint officials of their choosing to missions in Pakistan, China, Russia, Iran, and Uzbekistan. Currently, approximately 30 Afghan embassies are managed by diplomats appointed by the former regime.

Press reported that former Pakistani PM Imran Khan stated that the Taliban will not respect human rights, including the right of women to education, until they are recognized internationally.

Imran Khan stated that the Taliban should be integrated into the international community before discussing human rights and the education of females, according to a media cited by the press.

“What influence will you have over the Taliban if you isolate them?” If you legitimate them and grant them a state, then you can discuss human rights. Imran Khan was quoted by the Press as saying in an interview: “Right now, you push them on isolation; their money is frozen, so why would they listen?”

Imran Khan, chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), stated, “My advice is to get them involved and give them a stake in the international community so that when you tell them to educate girls, they will listen; currently, they are not.”

Afghanistan is experiencing a human rights crisis at the time of Imran Khan’s remarks. Afghan women have demanded that the Taliban reopen secondary schools for Afghan females. Imran Khan has previously requested that the international community recognize the Taliban.

Earlier in 2022, Imran Khan, who was then Pakistan’s PM imran khan , stated that there is “no alternative to the Taliban in Afghanistan” and that the “world’s only option to move forward is to engage with the Taliban.”

Imran Khan, speaking about Pakistan’s diplomatic ties with the Taliban in Afghanistan in an exclusive interview with Fareed Zakaria for the media, stated that the Taliban must be recognized by the international community for the well-being and future of approximately 40 million Afghans.

“Afghanistan is on the verge of experiencing the worst humanitarian crisis,” stated the prime minister, Imran Khan. “Under the given conditions, is there any alternative to the Taliban in Afghanistan? “No, there isn’t,” said Imran Khan.

“Forty million Afghans are in dire straits as a result of the current situation in the country,” Khan stated. He added that Americans should realize that disliking the Taliban is one thing, but thinking about the people of Afghanistan, who are confronting “extreme difficulties,” is another.

Imran Khan referred to cooperation with the Taliban as the “only alternative” for the welfare of Afghans, stating that excluding the Taliban would only result in anarchy in the country. He urged the international community to liberate Afghanistan’s frozen assets and provide humanitarian aid to prevent the country’s “economic collapse.”

The treatment of Afghan women and girls by the Taliban may constitute a crime against humanity, according to a United Nations report presented on Monday at the Human Rights Council in Geneva.

The Taliban usurped power in August 2021, severely restricting women’s rights and liberties, including their ability to attend high school or college.

Richard Bennett, the U.N. Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Afghanistan, concluded in a report covering July to December 2022 that the Taliban’s treatment of women and girls “may constitute gender persecution, a crime against humanity.”

Bennett informed the United Nations Human Rights Council that the Taliban’s deliberate and calculated policy is to deny the human rights of women and girls and eliminate them from public life. It may constitute the international offence of gender persecution, for which the government can be held liable.

A spokesperson for the information ministry administered by the Taliban did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The Taliban have stated in the past that they respect women’s rights in accordance with their interpretation of Islam and Afghan culture, and that they intend to open schools for females once certain conditions are met.

Bennett stated that the Human Rights Council should send a forceful message to the Taliban that their treatment of women and girls is intolerable and cannot be justified on any religious basis.

“The cumulative effect of the restrictions on women and girls has a detrimental, long-term effect on the entire population, and is equivalent to gender apartheid,” he stated.

In December, the Taliban banned the majority of female relief workers, prompting many aid agencies to partially suspend operations in the midst of a winter humanitarian crisis.

“Four persons were murdered in the attack, including two police officers, a ranger, and a sanitation worker,” Sindh government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab Siddiqui told AFP, adding, “The operation was successful in eliminating all three terrorists.”

“Four persons were murdered in the attack, including two police officers, a ranger, and a sanitation worker,” Sindh government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab Siddiqui told AFP, adding, “The operation was successful in eliminating all three terrorists.”

In a WhatsApp message to AFP, a representative for Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility.

“Our Mujahideen martyrs have attacked the police station in Karachi. Additional specifics will follow, “he stated.

“Our magnificent nation is resolved to permanently eradicate this evil.”

– “General danger” –

Previously, Sindh’s chief minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, told ARY news that security personnel were concentrating on a key structure captured by the militants.

“It is a five-story structure. Our law enforcement officers and rangers have cleared the first three stories and are approaching the fourth. The terrorists remain within the structure.”

Since the Taliban won control of neighbouring Afghanistan in August 2021, low-level militancy, which targets security checkpoints in the north and west, has progressively increased.

Karachi, the metropolis of the southern Sindh province, has been attacked over the years by separatists from Balochistan as well as the Pakistan Taliban and the local chapter of the Islamic State.

Authorities suspected a Pakistan Taliban group for the January attack on a mosque within a police complex in Peshawar, which killed more than eighty cops.

Tehreek-e-Taliban The Taliban of Afghanistan and Pakistan share a shared ancestry and set of values.

After the mosque incident, provinces around the nation announced that they were on high alert, with increased checkpoints and additional security troops deployed.

“There is a general threat throughout the country, but there was no specific threat to this location,” stated Interior Minister Sanaullah in reference to Friday’s incident in Karachi.

Karachi is the largest city in Pakistan, a sprawling metropolis of over 20 million inhabitants that serves as the country’s commercial hub at its Arabian Sea port.

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah stated on Samaa TV that the assailants were “terrorists… armed with grenades and other weapons” and that they fired a rocket at a gate.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif vowed to end the violence on Friday.

“Pakistan will not only eradicate terrorism, but will also bring terrorists to trial and execute them,” he tweeted.

She was one of the few female lawmakers to remain in Kabul after the Taliban took over in August 2021 as a result of the US pullout.

The tragedy also marks the first assassination of a former administration MP in Kabul since the Taliban took power.

Islamic State in Khorasan Province, a Taliban rival, has increased attacks in Afghanistan since 2021. Taliban patrols and Shiites have been targeted.

IS identified the attacker as Abdul Jabbar and said he withdrew safely after running out of ammunition. He detonated his explosives-laden vest at the checkpoint, it said. Mujahid said light weapons, hand grenades, mines, vests, and explosives were seized during raids on an IS hideout in Shahdai Salehin. Residents reported explosions and an hour-long gun battle.

In August 2021, as US and NATO forces were leaving Afghanistan after 20 years of war, the Taliban seized power

Monday, the Taliban made fun of Pakistan and warned of a proper response after the country’s interior minister, Rana Sanaullah, hinted at a possible military operation against the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) hideouts in Afghanistan.

Ahmad Yasir, a leader of the Taliban and deputy prime minister, posted a picture of Islamabad giving up to India after the war in 1971 that led to the creation of Bangladesh. In the caption, he warned that the same “shameful” thing would happen to Pakistan if it attacked the TTP with the military.
“Pakistan’s Minister of the Interior! Excellent Sir! Afghanistan, Syria, and Pakistan are not Turkey, so the Kurds in Syria shouldn’t be a target for them. Afghanistan is the place where many great empires have died. Do not think about attacking us with military force. If you do, it will be like the military agreement with India, which was a shame “Mr. Yasir used Urdu to write.

In 1971, General Officer Commanding-in-chief (GOC-in-C) of Indian and Bangladesh Forces in Eastern Theater Lieutenant General Jagjit Singh Aurora took a picture of Pakistan Army commander in East Pakistan, which is now Bangladesh, Lieutenant General Amir Abdullah Khan Niazi, singing the “Instrument of Surrender” in Dhaka.

On December 16, 1971, a click was made on the picture. In India, the day is known as Vijay Diwas. It’s a day to remember when India helped free Bangladesh.

Mr. Yasir’s warning comes just days after Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said that Islamabad has the legal right to act against “insurgents’ hideouts” in Afghanistan if these groups threaten Pakistan.

In response, the Taliban said that no one would be allowed to attack Afghanistan. RFERL says that its spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said that Afghanistan wants to have good relations with Pakistan, but that its officials should be careful about what they say. Separately, the Taliban’s Defense Ministry in Kabul said that “such claims by Pakistani officials harm relations” and that any problems can be “solved through understanding.”
