Turkey will declares 3 days’ mourning over a deadly strike on a hospital in war-torn Gaza that killed hundreds, a Turkish official told AFP on Wednesday.

A fervent supporter of the Palestinian cause, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has condemned Israel for “attacking a hospital that was providing shelter to children, women, and innocent civilians” in Gaza and has urged the international community to intervene.

Militants from Israel and Palestine have leveled mutual accusations against one another regarding the attack.

The Turkish government will observe three days of national mourning, an unidentified official told AFP.

National mourning, according to Ozlem Zengin of Erdogan’s governing AKP party, would be instituted by presidential decree.

“Demonstrating our level of perception regarding this issue is crucial,” she was reportedly quoted as saying by the private NTV broadcaster.

Erdogan denounced the strike on Tuesday via social media as “the most recent instance of Israeli assaults devoid of the most fundamental human values.”

Turkey’s proclamation of three days of mourning, according to AKP party spokesman Omer Celik, is an expression of solidarity with the innocent Palestinians in Gaza.

“We both experience the same anguish and sorrow,” he stated during a weekly press conference. He stated that he held Israel accountable for the hospital attack.

Protesters gathered in significant numbers in Istanbul and Ankara, the capital of Turkey, late Tuesday, chanting pro-Palestinian slogans.

Israel has issued a directive for its citizens to promptly evacuate Turkey in anticipation of potential retaliatory assaults.

Monday, a magnitude 4.0 Richter scale earthquake hits afsin. earthquake occurred 23 kilometers southwest Afsin, Turkey, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). As of yet, no casualties have been reported.

At 04:25:57 (UTC 05:30), the earthquake hits Afsin, Turkey at a depth of 10 kilometers. The epicenter of the earthquake was located at 38.078°N and 36.7622°E, according to the USGS.

This occurred approximately two months after a much more devastating earthquake devastated the same region. The tremor was preceded by a magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck 11 Turkish provinces, including Malatya, on February 6, 2023.

The quake on February 6 caused more than 48,000 deaths in both Turkey and Syria, as well as the collapse or severe devastation of 173,000 buildings in Turkey. Since then, the region has experienced nearly 10,000 aftershocks, making it hazardous for people to enter damaged structures.

In one of the world’s most active seismic zones, the earthquake struck densely populated areas as people slept in homes that were not designed to withstand such intense tremors.

The disaster has placed pressure on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan over the slow response to the earthquake and why his government permitted the construction of such low-quality structures.

After a 1999 earthquake in northwestern Turkey killed more than 17,000 people, Turkish officials pledged to strengthen building regulations.

According to media reports, more than 84,000 buildings collapsed, require immediate demolition, or were gravely damaged in the February 6 earthquake.

Dozens of contractors have been arrested as the government vows to clamp down on lax building standards.

Antakya, an ancient crossroads of civilizations, was one of the areas that incurred the most damage in Turkey’s earthquake.

Turkey earthquake: A 10-day-old infant and his mother were rescued from the wreckage in Turkey 90 hours after the first of the catastrophic earthquakes struck Syria and Turkey.Yagiz Ulas, a 10-day-old infant, was saved from a destroyed building in the southern province of Hatay, which was severely damaged by the disaster.

A rescuer crouched behind debris and whispered “inshallah” (God willing) as he reached into the wreckage and handed the infant to his team members. The child was wrapped in a gleaming thermal blanket and rushed to a medical field centre in Samandag with his eyes wide open. Emergency personnel transported his mother, who was bewildered and pale but conscious, on a stretcher, according to a video from Turkey’s disaster service.

As the day progressed, further people were rescued in the country. Six individuals were rescued from a collapsed building in Iskenderun, Hatay, after spending 101 hours buried under the rubble, according to rescue workers.

Murat Baygul, a search-and-rescue worker, was quoted by the news agency Associated Press as claiming that the six individuals, all members of the same family, were able to survive by seeking safety together in a small pocket of the collapsed structure.

In Nurdagi, close to Iskenderun, a Spanish rescuer exclaimed, “I’ve got him! I’ve got him! Let’s go!” as he retrieved a two-year-old boy from a fallen structure. A group of troops from the Spanish Military Emergencies Unit (UME) formed a human chain to transfer Muslim Saleh to a warm tent. Shortly thereafter, they rescued his six-year-old sister, Elif, and then their mother, both of whom were discovered to be alive.

In the village of Kahramanmaras, around 170 kilometres north of Iskenderun, orange-clad workmen discovered a child in a fallen structure who was crying as dust entered his eyes.In the Kurdish-majority city of Diyarbakir on Friday morning, the terrified face of a small child peered out from a collapsed structure, his cries rising above the sounds of drills and grinders used to rescue him. As with infant Yagiz, his mother followed him on a stretcher 103 hours after the earthquake.

Aurelio Soto, a spokesman for UME, told Reuters, “They did not require a great deal of medical care; just a little bit of love, warmth, drink, and fruit.”

The 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck the border region between Turkey and Syria, killing over 24,000 people and injuring a great number more. Friday, over 100 hours after a powerful earthquake struck Turkey and Syria, rescuers raced against the clock to scour the rubble. The death toll continues to grow amid enormous damage, and hundreds of thousands of people rendered homeless by the earthquakes are gripped by cold, hunger, and despair.

8 February, Thiruvananthapuram Kerala will donate Rs 10 crore to Turkey and Syria, where terrible earthquakes have killed over 7000 people, the state’s finance minister K N Balagopal declared in the assembly on Wednesday.

A resolution offering condolences to the victims of the catastrophic earthquakes in Turkey and Syria was delivered by Kerala Chief Minister Pinrayi Vijayan on Wednesday in the state assembly.
Soon to Come an Earthquake in India? Similar predictions were made about India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan by Dutch researcher Frank Hoogerbeets, who also predicted earthquakes in Turkey and Syria (Watch Video).

On February 6, a powerful earthquake with a Richter scale magnitude of 7.8 tore through Turkey and Syria. This was followed by a string of earthquakes that left enormous destruction, fatalities, and damage to infrastructure in both countries. According to media reports, over 7,900 people died as a result of these earthquakes.

Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay released a statement on Tuesday claiming that at least 5,894 people had died and 34,810 had been injured in Turkey, while the Syrian Civil Defense, also known as the “White Helmets,” said on Tuesday that the death toll in northwest Syria had increased to 1,220 and to 2,600 injured.

In the meantime, India has offered its assistance to Turkey in the recent quake-related crises. On Tuesday, the C17 flight headed for Turkey with more than 50 members of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), a team of specially trained dogs, and the tools needed for the relief work, including medical supplies, drilling equipment, and other tools.

Turkey Earthquake: Wednesday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan acknowledged “deficiencies” in his government’s response to the catastrophic Turkey Earthquake that killed more than 15,000 people in Turkey and Syria. The immensity of the calamity, which destroyed thousands of structures and trapped an untold number of people, overwhelmed relief efforts already handicapped by frigid temperatures.

Survivors have been left to scavenge for food and shelter, and in some cases have been forced to watch helplessly as their relatives screamed for aid, only to go mute beneath the rubble.”In the ruins are my nephew, my sister-in-law, and my sister-in-sister. law’s They are buried beneath the debris with no sign of life “Hatay, Turkey’s Semire Coban, a kindergarten teacher, said this.

“We cannot contact them. We are attempting to communicate with them, but they are unresponsive… We are awaiting assistance. It has already been 48 hours “She stated,Three days after the 7.8 magnitude earthquake, already one of the worst of the 21st century, rescuers continued to pluck survivors from the rubble as the death toll continued to climb.

As online criticism rose, Erdogan visited Kahramanmaras, one of the hardest-hit areas, and admitted issues with the response.”Obviously, there are deficiencies. The conditions are readily apparent. It is impossible to be prepared for such a tragedy “he replied.According to AFP journalists and NetBlocks site monitoring group, Twitter was also inoperable on Turkish mobile networks.

Children saved

As the endeavour nears the 72-hour mark, when catastrophe experts believe the most likely time to save lives, the window of opportunity for rescuers to identify survivors is closing.Yet, on Wednesday, rescuers extracted children from beneath a collapsed structure in the hard-hit Turkish province of Hatay, where entire swaths of communities were destroyed.

Alperen Cetinkaya, a rescuer, remarked, “Thanks to the excavator, we quickly heard the voices of three persons speaking simultaneously.””We anticipate more of them… the possibilities of getting people out of here alive are quite good,” he continued.

Officials and medical personnel reported that 12,391 people have died in Turkey Earthquake and at least 2,992 in Syria as a result of Monday’s 7.8-magnitude Turkey Earthquake, bringing the overall number of fatalities to 15,383 — and experts believe the number will continue to grow further.

The EU is preparing a March donors summit in Brussels to mobilise worldwide assistance for Syria and Turkey. On Twitter, EU leader Ursula von der Leyen stated, “We are now in a race against time to preserve lives together.””No one should be left alone when such a tragedy strikes a community,” von der Leyen stated.

People are killed every second due to Turkey Earthquake.

As a result of the magnitude of the destruction and the absence of aid in many regions, survivors reported feeling alone in their response to the disaster.”Even the buildings that have not yet collapsed have sustained considerable damage. There are currently more people beneath the rubble than above it “Hassan, who did not disclose his complete name, was quoted as saying in the rebel-held Syrian city of Jindayris.

“There are 400-500 individuals trapped beneath each collapsed structure, but barely 10 people are attempting to rescue them. And there is no equipment “he added. In their “battle against time,” the White Helmets, who are leading attempts to rescue those buried under rubble in rebel-held areas of Syria, have pleaded for international assistance.

They have been labouring since the earthquake to extricate survivors from beneath the rubble of scores of collapsed buildings in areas of war-torn Syria’s northwest that remain outside of government control.

A senior UN official has asked for the improvement of assistance access to rebel-held regions in the northwest, saying that relief supplies will soon run out.”Put politics aside and let us do our humanitarian work,” El-Mostafa Benlamlih, the UN’s resident Syria coordinator, told AFP in an interview.

Syria requests aid from the EU

The topic of aid to Syria is delicate, and the sanctioned government in Damascus has made a public appeal to the EU for assistance, according to the EU’s crisis management commissioner, Janez Lenarcic.A decade of civil war and Russian-Syrian aerial bombing had already resulted in the destruction of hospitals, economic collapse, and energy, fuel, and water shortages.

Lenarcic highlighted that the European Commission is “encouraging” EU member states to respond to Syria’s request for medical supplies and food, while also ensuring that any aid “is not misdirected” by the administration of President Bashar al-Assad.Dozens of countries, including the United States, China, and the Gulf States, have offered assistance, and search teams and relief supplies have already arrived.

The European Union quickly dispatched emergency personnel to Turkey after a powerful Turkey Earthquake shook the country near the Syrian border on Monday. As a result of EU sanctions placed since 2011 on Assad’s government for its ruthless crackdown on demonstrators that sparked a civil war, Russia initially provided Syria with relatively modest aid.

The Turkey-Syria border is one of the most seismically active regions in the world. The magnitude of Monday’s earthquake was the greatest since 1939, when 33,000 people perished in the eastern region of Erzincan.

A 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria early on Monday morning claimed the lives of hundreds of people who were asleep, destroyed many structures, and caused vibrations to be felt as far away as Egypt and the island of Cyprus.

In a region where millions of people have fled the Syrian civil war and other crises, one of the worst to hit Turkey in at least a century completely destroyed big portions of major cities.

According to Raed Ahmed, the director of Syria’s National Earthquake Center, this was “historically the greatest earthquake recorded in the history of the centre.”

According to the health ministry and a nearby hospital, at least 245 people died in Syria’s government-controlled regions as well as the northern regions held by pro-Turkish forces.

Anguished by the loss of lives and damage of property due to the Earthquake in Turkey. Condolences to the bereaved families. May the injured recover soon. India stands in solidarity with the people of Turkey and is ready to offer all possible assistance to cope with this tragedy. https://t.co/vYYJWiEjDQ

— Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) February 6, 2023

Turkey has seen at least 284 fatalities, according to vice president Fuat Oktay, who also noted that more than 2,300 people have been injured and that search and rescue operations are still ongoing in numerous major cities.A winter snowfall that coated main roadways in ice and snow and made rescue efforts difficult proved hindering.

Television footage showed horrified Turks watching rescuers sift through the wreckage of destroyed homes while standing in the snow in their pyjamas.

According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake occurred in the Turkish city of Gaziantep, which is home to roughly two million people, at 04:17 local time (0117 GMT) and a depth of approximately 17.9 kilometres (11 miles).

The first earthquake, according to Turkey’s AFAD emergency service centre, had a magnitude of 7.4 and was followed by more than 40 aftershocks.Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the president of Turkey, expressed his sympathies and called for national unity. Erdogan will be under intense pressure to oversee an efficient response to the disaster before a hotly contested election on May 14.

The Turkish president tweeted, “We hope that we will get through this calamity together as soon as possible and with the least harm.”Jake Sullivan, the national security adviser for the US, stated that Washington was “profoundly concerned.”We are prepared to offer whatever support that is required, Sullivan said.

Near Syria, a nation racked by more than a decade of turmoil that has killed hundreds of thousands and uprooted millions, the earthquake struck a restive, primarily Kurdish region of Turkey.

Rescuers could be seen sifting through the wreckage of demolished buildings in the cities of Kahramanmaras and Gaziantep, which were both completely destroyed.

In one of the images from Kahramanmaras, a fire lighted up the night sky, but its source was unknown.AFP reporters reported terrified residents running out onto the streets in the cities of Adiyaman, Malatya, and Diyarbakir, where buildings also collapsed.Omer Faruk Coskun, the governor of Kahramanmaras, stated that due to the extensive building damage, it was too soon to estimate the number of fatalities

Because so many structures have been demolished, Coskun stated that it was currently impossible to provide the number of people who have died and been injured. “The harm is severe.”In the region of Maltaya, a historic 13th-century mosque partially fell together with a 14-story structure housing 28 apartments.

Rescuers in other places laboured in agony to locate survivors buried under the rubble.A rescuer was heard saying in front of a destroyed building in the city of Diyarbakir, “We hear voices here — and over there, too.””Under the rubble there could be 200 individuals.”

Aleppo, Latakia, Hama, and Tartus, where Russia is renting a naval facility, were among the areas where damage was reported by the Syrian health ministry.Fearful locals reportedly fled their houses when the ground shook, according to AFP correspondents in northern Syria.

Buildings in Aleppo, Syria’s pre-war commercial centre, frequently fell down before the disaster because of the city’s crumbling infrastructure from more than a decade of conflict and the lack of monitoring for new construction projects, some of which were built illegally.

Naci Gorur, an expert on earthquakes with the Turkish Academy of Sciences, pleaded with local officials to check the area’s dams for fractures right once to prevent possibly disastrous flooding.Turkey is located in one of the seismically active regions of the planet.

The biggest earthquake to strike Turkey in decades struck the Turkish area of Duzce in 1999, measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale.Over 17,000 individuals were killed in that earthquake, including about 1,000 in Istanbul.

Experts have long cautioned that Istanbul, which has permitted extensive building without safety safeguards, may be completely destroyed by a huge earthquake.

In January 2020, a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Elazig, killing around 40 people.

Additionally, a magnitude-7.0 earthquake that struck Turkey’s Aegean coast in October of that same year left more than 1,000 people injured.
