Multiple accounts shared a viral image depicting an animated blue bird who appeared unhappy after being ‘fired’. “I was fired,” the image of the bird read. Sharing the image, the users expressed their final farewells to the avian.

“The bird has been set free,” echoed another user.

Some users also disapproved of the new logo, stating that they preferred the avian symbol. Along with the rebranding, some individuals suggested that the platform should also concentrate on other areas that require improvement, such as enhancing the user experience for its non-verified audience.

In November, Twitter announced a monthly fee of $8 for verified accounts to maintain their status on the microblogging site. Subsequently, additional adjustments were made to the platform, including a temporary limit on the number of tweets users can view per day and a restriction on the number of direct messages non-verified accounts can send per day.

The concept behind the redesigned ‘X’ logo.

Among the alterations made to Twitter since Musk assumed control of the company a year ago, he changed its business name to X Corp. Musk articulated his vision to transform Twitter into “the everything app” in October of 2016. “…the acquisition of Twitter is a catalyst for creating X, the everything app,” he had said.

Musk has described the new ‘X’ logo as “minimalist art deco,” verified CEO Linda Yaccarino.

Such hashtags as ‘RIP (Rest in Peace) Twitter’ Monday, ‘X’ and ‘X’ were trending on the platform as users inundated the site with memes depicting how they felt about the new logo.

In addition, CEO Yaccarino elaborated on the rebranding by stating that ‘X’ represents the future of “unlimited interactivity centred in audio, video, messaging, payments/banking.”

Powered by artificial intelligence, X will create a global marketplace for ideas, goods and services, and opportunities, connecting people “in ways we’re just beginning to imagine,” according to her tweet.
