Wednesday,the Assam cabinet endorsed the recommendations made by the state’s 12 Regional Committees to resolve the decades long border dispute with Arunachal Pradesh.

During the state cabinet meeting conducted in Guwahati under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the decision was made.

Assam Minister Ashok Singhal announced the cabinet decisions and stated that the long-standing border dispute between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh will be resolved.

The state cabinet also sanctioned an investment of Rs 8,201.29 crore for eight mega projects in the state, and memorandums of understanding will be signed on May 9.

Approximately 6,100 people will be directly employed as a result of these initiatives.

The state cabinet also sanctioned giving 301 Loktantra Senani from the 1975 Emergency a monthly pension of Rs 15,000.

On the other hand, the state cabinet sanctioned a joint venture company for city gas service between Oil India Limited and Assam Gas Company (51% share).

Earlier in March 2022, the administrations of Assam and Meghalaya signed a historic agreement in the nation’s capital to settle their 50-year-old border dispute.

Assam and Meghalaya signed the agreement two months after their respective chief ministers submitted a draft resolution to Amit Shah on January 31 for examination and consideration by the MHA.
