Feel fortunate to reside in the Northern Hemisphere, as you will be able to witness the Draconid Meteor Shower between October 6 and 10. The peak will occur on October 9, which is also the ideal date to observe the meteor shower.

The Draconid meteor shower is one of the least active and is only visible in the northern hemisphere. With the moon in its last quarter and the sky being clear and dark, you may see approximately 10 meteors per hour!

Understand meteor showers

Meteors can be understood as bursts of light caused by space debris colliding with our atmosphere.

When the Earth passes through clouds of debris left by comets, meteor showers occur in the sky.

Tiny grains of debris penetrate our atmosphere at such high speed that the friction between them and the air heats up and produces a flash of light across the sky.

Comet 21P, also known as Giacobini-Zinner, orbits the sun every 6.5 years and last passed by the Earth in 2018. This comet’s debris causes The Draconids, also known as the Giacobinids.

These are also named after the Draco constellation from which they emanate.

How to watch the Draconid Meteor Shower?

As with any other meteor shower, these meteors will be seen in the sky.

The optimal conditions for viewing are a cloudless twilight away from urban areas. After midnight is the optimal time to observe precipitation.

Plan a pleasant outing with your loved ones and wait for the shower to arrive. If meteors traverse the sky in front of you, you will observe them.

Want to watch the constellation Draco?

The Summer Triangle can be used to locate the source of the Draconid meteor shower in the constellation Draco.

Three brilliant stars comprise the triangle: Altair, Deneb, and Vega. It is visible in the east once the sun has set.

ALSO READ :Bennu may reveal Earthly truths. NASA capsule samples will contain…

Draw a line from Altair, the closest star in the triangle to the horizon, to Vega, the star in the upper right, and you will reach Draco in short order.

Alternatively, Draco can be located by using the constellation Ursa Major, specifically the Plough or the Big Dipper.

Follow the line created by uniting the two outer stars of the Big Dipper’s bowl to Polaris, the north star. Once you reach Polaris, draw a line perpendicular and to the left; this will lead you to Draco.

US lawmakers and influential Indian-Americans have expressed strong condemnation of the attempted arson at the Indian consulate in San Francisco and called for swift action against the perpetrators of this “criminal act.” They have also condemned the “violent rhetoric” directed at India’s ambassador to the United States, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, and emphasized that the right to free speech does not include the right to incite violence or harm property.

A video uploaded to Twitter by Khalistan supporters on July 2 depicted the act of arson at the San Francisco Indian consulate. The video exhibited the phrase “violence begets violence” and news articles about the death of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, the leader of the Canadian Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF). The previous month, Nijjar, a terrorist sought in India with a reward of Rs 10 lakh on his head, was shot and killed outside a gurdwara in Canada.

Co-chairs of the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian-Americans, Congressmen Ro Khanna and Michael Waltz, issued a joint statement on Thursday condemning the attempted arson and vandalism at the Indian Consulate in San Francisco, as well as the posters circulating on social media with violent rhetoric directed at Indian diplomats, including ambassador Sandhu.

“We support the right to free speech and expression for all Americans, but this does not authorize vandalism or incitement to violence.” As a criminal offense, violence against diplomatic facilities will not be tolerated. The statement urged the State Department to expeditiously investigate the damage at the Indian Consulate in coordination with law enforcement and to hold those responsible accountable.

They affirmed their support for the freedom of speech and expression, but emphasized that it should not include the devastation of property or incitement to violence. They highlighted that violence against diplomatic facilities is a crime that will not be tolerated. They demanded that the State Department coordinate swiftly with law enforcement to investigate the damage to the Indian Consulate and hold those responsible accountable.

The assault on the Indian Consulate in San Francisco was deemed ‘unacceptable’ by US Representative McCormick. This assault on the Indian consulate in San Francisco is abhorrent and unjustifiable. Americans support our allies and our patriotic Indian-American community, tweeted McCormick.

Brian Fitzpatrick, a member of Congress, deemed the assault on the Indian consulate unacceptable, conveying his vehement condemnation and anticipating legal action against those responsible. As of Thursday, no action was taken against the attack’s perpetrators.

A spokesperson from the National Security Council of the White House emphasized that the United States considers the safety and security of diplomats very seriously, strongly condemning acts of violence or vandalism against diplomatic personnel or facilities.

Congressman Mike Lawler characterized the attempted conflagration at the Indian consulate as disturbing and expressed his hope for a continued strong partnership with India, the largest democracy in the world. Shri Thanedar, an Indian-American congressman, vehemently condemned the assault and stated that violence and attempts to instill fear have no place in a democracy.

Ro Khanna, an Indian-American congressman, condemned the social media posters targeting Indian diplomats, including Ambassador Sandhu. He emphasized that such language puts diplomats in peril and has no place in a democracy, citing his admiration for Ambassador Sandhu and his participation in discussions about human rights issues. Khanna emphasized that freedom of expression should not be used to incite violence.

This most recent assault on the Indian Consulate in San Francisco is the second incident involving Khalistani supporters in the past few months. On March 19, a group of pro-Khalistan protesters assaulted and vandalized the consulate, shouting pro-Khalistan slogans and positioning Khalistani flags inside the building. The flags were eventually removed by consulate staff.

The South Asian Minorities Collective tweeted about the Khalistan movement’s efforts to regain strength in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada, alluding to its connections to the Pakistani intelligence service.

Jasdeep Singh, a leader of the Sikh religion, criticized the attack on the Indian consulate, characterizing it as “shameful and disgraceful.” He implored the identification and prosecution of the perpetrators, emphasizing that it is unacceptable to target consulates, diplomats, or anyone else. Singh also urged the Biden administration to guarantee the protection and safety of all consulates and diplomats in the United States, particularly those from India. He stated that the Sikh community generally respects the nation’s laws and supports government action against those who violate them.

Media was informed by a spokesman for the Secret Service that the final test results for a white material found at the White House on Sunday were positive.

The substance was submitted for further investigation and testing, the Secret Service had previously stated.

On the other hand, former US President Donald Trump has launched a tirade in response to the discovery of cocaine on White House grounds.

Trump posted on Truth Social on Wednesday, “Does anyone seriously believe that the cocaine found in the West Wing of the White House, very close to the Oval Office, was for anyone other than Hunter and Joe Biden?”

“But observe, the Fake News Media will soon begin claiming that the amount discovered was’very small,’ and that it wasn’t actually cocaine, but rather common ground-up aspirin, and the story will disappear. Has the insane, Trump-hating Special Prosecutor Deranged Jack Smith been spotted in the vicinity of the cocaine? He added, “He looks like a crackhead to me.”

Media cites a source familiar with the situation as saying that the substance was discovered near the West Wing’s ground-floor entrance. This location is traversed by White House staff-led excursions as they enter the building.

The substance was discovered close to the location where visitors are instructed to deposit their mobile phones prior to accessing the West Wing. Typically, these excursions only occur on weekends.

Previously, Media sources characterized the substance as a small bag containing a white powder.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre expressed Wednesday confidence that the Secret Service will “get to the bottom” of the incident. She verified that the cocaine was discovered in a “high-traffic area” of the West Wing.

She added that Vice President Joe Biden had been briefed on the situation and “everything we know so far,” and that the Secret Service was conducting an investigation.

She added, “We are confident that they will get to the bottom of this.”

Sunday evening’s detection of the substance prompted an immediate evacuation as part of the Secret Service’s “precautionary closures.”

Media reported that officials have stated they are investigating who brought cocaine into the facility.

The purpose of next year’s summit is to send a message of peace from Hiroshima, one of the two Japanese cities destroyed by nuclear weapons during World War II, as Russia has threatened to use nuclear weapons since invading Ukraine in late February.

G7 leaders will convene in Hiroshima for the first time. The group consists of three nuclear powers, namely the United Kingdom, France, and the United States, as well as Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the European Union.

The announcement was made following the conclusion of this year’s G7 summit in the southern German castle resort of Schloss Elmau, where the Ukraine crisis dominated the discussion.

Kishida stated at a news conference, “I would like the summit to be a venue for leaders to demonstrate a strong commitment from Hiroshima to never repeating the horrors of nuclear weapons and opposing military aggressions.”

“At the upcoming summit, the G7 will demonstrate its leadership in establishing a new order based on universal values and rules,” he said.

According to a Japanese official, Kishida told his G7 counterparts that “there is no more fitting place than Hiroshima to commit to peace.”

It will be the seventh G7 summit conducted in Japan, after the 2016 meeting in Mie Prefecture.

Kishida, a representative from Hiroshima elected to the House of Representatives for decades, advocates for a world without nuclear weapons. He expressed his intent to expedite G7 discussions toward this objective.

“The G7 reaffirms its commitment to the ultimate goal of a nuclear-free world with uncompromised security for all,” the group said in a communique issued following the conclusion of its three-day summit.

The leaders emphasized the significance of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) as the “foundation” for nuclear disarmament and the peaceful use of nuclear technology.

Kishida intends to deliver a speech at a United Nations conference on nuclear nonproliferation to be held in New York in August.

At the previous review conference, convened in 2015 during Kishida’s tenure as foreign minister, a consensus document was not adopted due to disagreements among nuclear weapon states and others.

The first atomic bombing by the United States, which occurred on August 6, 1945, was responsible for an estimated 140,000 fatalities by the end of that year. Three days later, a second atomic bomb was detonated on Nagasaki.

During his May visit to Tokyo, U.S. President Joe Biden supported Japan’s selection of Hiroshima as the summit location.

Sunday, law enforcement officers went door-to-door in a rural Texas town in quest of a gunman who killed five people and fled after his neighbors asked him to stop firing rounds in his yard.

Francisco Oropesa, 38, was believed to be armed and dangerous after departing the area on foot on Friday, San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers said Saturday night. He stated that authorities had expanded the search area to 20 miles (32 kilometers) from the shooting site.

Capers stated that tracking canines lost the scent while searching a densely forested rural area that yielded clothing and a cell phone to investigators. The authorities were able to identify Oropesa using a Mexican identification card issued to citizens who reside outside the country and entryway camera footage. He stated that the suspect’s wife was also interviewed by police.

Sheriff stated that police recovered the AR-15-style rifle that Oropesa allegedly used in the shootings, but authorities were uncertain whether he was transporting any other weapons. He stated that there were additional weapons in the suspect’s residence.

“He could be anywhere now,” said Capers.

The assault occurred near the town of Cleveland, north of Houston, on a street where, according to some locals, gunfire is a common way for neighbors to unwind.

Sunday was a much more tranquil day. The crime scene tape had been removed from the residence of the victims. Some individuals stopped to leave flowers.

An FBI agent, multiple Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, and other officers were observed walking around the neighborhood and knocking on doors in an attempt to communicate with residents. The agent and officers refused to remark on their activities.

ALSO READ :Bhiwandi building collapse kills six; owner arrested.

A red truck towing a travel trailer passed through the neighborhood as the authorities were speaking with residents at one residence. One trooper halted the truck and asked the driver for permission to inspect the interior.

The driver consented and permitted the trooper to enter the vehicle. After examining the trailer, the trooper permitted the driver to continue driving.

Veronica Pineda, 34, who lives across the street from the suspect’s residence, reported that authorities requested permission to investigate her property in case he was hiding there.

“That’s a good thing,” the mother of five said, adding that she remained fearful because the shooter had not yet been apprehended.

“It is somewhat unnerving. You can never predict where he may be. She stated, “I don’t believe he will be here any longer.”

She stated that she did not know Oropesa well, but that she occasionally saw him, his wife, and his son riding their horses on the street. She estimates that the family has resided there for five or six years. Pineda stated that neighbors have previously contacted authorities to protest about gunfire.

Capers stated that the fatalities of Friday’s shooting ranged in age from 8 to 31, and all were believed to be from Honduras. All were fired “from the neck up,” according to him. A GoFundMe page was created in order to return the corpses of a mother and son to their native country.

Enrique Reina, the secretary of foreign affairs and international cooperation for Honduras, stated on Twitter that the Honduran Consulate in Houston was in contact with the families regarding the repatriation of remains, as well as with U.S. authorities to keep them informed of the investigation.

Authorities initially gave the suspect’s surname as Oropeza, but the FBI in Houston tweeted on Sunday that it was now using Oropesa to “better reflect his identity in law enforcement systems.” According to the FBI, the matter “remains a fluid investigation.”

The attack was the most recent instance of gun violence in what has been a record-setting year for mass shootings in the United States, some of which involved semiautomatic rifles.

Capers reported that there were ten people in the home, some of whom had just moved in earlier in the week, but no one was injured. According to him, two of the victims were discovered in a bedroom covering two children in an apparent effort to conceal them.

Capers stated that three children discovered covered in blood in the residence were taken to a hospital but were found to be unharmed.

Christina Garza, a spokesperson for the FBI, stated that investigators do not believe those at the residence to be members of a single family. Sonia Argentina Guzman, age 25, Diana Velazquez Alvarado, age 21, Julisa Molina Rivera, age 31, Jose Jonathan Casarez, age 18, and Daniel Enrique Laso, age 8, were identified as the victims.

Capers stated that the confrontation occurred after residents approached a fence and asked the suspect to cease firing rounds. According to him, the suspect replied that it was his property. The doorbell camera captured him carrying a rifle as he approached the front entrance.

The shooting occurred on a rural street riddled with potholes, where single-story homes nestle on 1-acre lots and are surrounded by a dense forest canopy. Behind the residence of the victims was a horse, while in the front yard of Oropesa’s home were a dog and chickens.

Rene Arevalo Sr., who resides a few houses away, reported hearing gunshots at midnight, but he didn’t think much of it.

“It’s a common practice in this area, particularly on Fridays after work,” Arevalo said. “People go home, drink in their backyards, and shoot outside.”

The United States called on China on Saturday to cease its “provocative and unsafe conduct” in the disputed South China Sea, where a Chinese coast guard ship recently nearly collided with a Philippine patrol vessel.

In a statement issued two days prior to President Joe Biden’s meeting with Philippine counterpart Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at the White House, State Department spokesman Matthew Miller described the incident as a reminder of China’s “harassment and intimidation” of Philippine vessels in the contested waterway.

“We demand that Beijing cease its provocative and dangerous behavior,” he said, adding that any attack on Philippine armed forces would prompt a US response.

The Sunday near-collision off the Spratly Islands was the most recent in a series of incidents between China and the Philippines in the contested waterway.

Beijing asserts sovereignty over nearly the entire South China Sea, despite a judgment by the international community that this claim is illegal.

After journalists were invited to accompany two Philippine Coast Guard boats on a six-day patrol of the waters, visiting a dozen islands and reefs, AFP was among the media outlets that witnessed the incident.

In the Spratly archipelago, Philippine vessels approached Second Thomas Shoal, also known as Ren’ai Jiao in China.

As a vessel carrying Filipino journalists, the BRP Malapascua, approached the shoal, a Chinese Coast Guard vessel more than twice its size sailed into its path.

From the other Philippine Coast Guard boat, which was less than one kilometer (0.6 miles) distant, AFP journalists observed the incident.

The commanding officer of the Malapascua stated that the Chinese ship arrived within 45 meters (50 yards) of his vessel, and only his quick actions prevented the steel-hulled vessels from colliding.

The Chinese foreign ministry stated on Friday that Philippine vessels had “intruded” into Chinese territory without permission and that this was a “premeditated and provocative action.”

Manila responded, stating that “routine patrols in our own waters cannot be premeditated or provocative” and insisting that the patrols will continue.

The near-miss occurred just one day after Marcos met with Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang in Manila to defuse tensions in the waterway.

Marcos has stated that he will not allow China to violate Philippine maritime rights, and he has gravitated toward the United States in an effort to strengthen defense ties.

This change has alarmed China, which accuses the United States of attempting to create a wedge between Beijing and Manila.

Marcos stated that he will discuss with Biden the “need to tone down the rhetoric” regarding the South China Sea, Taiwan, and North Korea.

The 43-year-old reality television star is accused of assaulting his brother, Jesse Margera, during a domestic dispute at their Pennsylvania residence. The incident has ignited controversy and stunned fans and spectators.

Jesse Margera reported that Bam pounded and kicked his closed bedroom door before engaging in a violent confrontation in the kitchen, according to court documents. According to the allegations, Bam punched his sibling in the eye, nose, and ear, causing him to sustain minor injuries. Jesse discovered a menacing note signed by Bam, which further escalated the situation.

The situation took a dramatic turn when Bam fled on foot through dense forests to avoid state troopers. However, his freedom was brief, as he eventually surrendered to Pennsylvania State Police in Avondale. The individual was charged with simple assault, harassment, and four counts of terroristic threats in the arrest warrant.

Bam Margera maintains his innocence in defiance of the grave accusations. Following his surrender, he issued a statement vehemently denying the allegations and declaring his intended to sue his brother for defamation. He also vowed to evict Jesse from “Castle Bam” in the near future, claiming that Jesse’s wish to have Bam returned to California and committed prompted the incident.

Michael van der Veen, Bam Margera’s counsel, has reaffirmed his client’s not guilty plea and emphasized that Bam is presumed innocent. Van der Veen also refuted the rumors concerning Bam’s conduct, claiming they are wholly false. He assured the public that Bam is in excellent physical and mental health.

This is not the first time that Bam Margera has been embroiled in controversy. In 2021, he sued Paramount, Johnny Knoxville, Spike Jonze, and Jeffrey Tremaine, alleging unlawful termination from the fourth installment of the “Jackass” franchise. The lawsuit alleged that Bam was coerced into signing a “wellness agreement” and dismissed after testing positive for the prescription drug Adderall, which he requires to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

The public awaits Bam Margera’s judicial appearance at the end of May with bated breath to see how this scandalous saga unfolds. The outcome of the once-adored celebrity’s legal battle will determine his future, both personally and professionally.

Jean Carroll was motivated by money and fame.

E. Jean Carroll previously alleged that Donald Trump sexually assaulted her in a Bergdorf Goodman store dressing room on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. Donald Trump asked the former columnist for advice on purchasing lingerie for women before attacking her, she claimed.

“As soon as they entered (the locker room), everything changed. Suddenly, nothing was enjoyable. Trump was nearly twice her girth, according to E. Jean Carroll’s attorney, Shawn Crowley.

The trial is not criminal in nature, but it comes at a time when Donald Trump confronts an onslaught of legal challenges that could jeopardize his bid for reelection in 2024. Donald Trump was the first serving or former president to be charged with a crime, in relation to a hush-money payment made to porn star Stormy Daniels. The former president pleaded not guilty to 34 counts related to the payment made just prior to the 2016 election.

Donald Trump is also under investigation for his efforts to reverse his 2020 election loss in Georgia, his alleged mismanagement of classified documents, and his alleged involvement in the attack on the US Capitol.

E. Jean Carroll made the allegation for the first time in 2019 and sued Donald Trump for defamation, but she was unable to include the rape allegation. She filed a new complaint accusing Donald Trump of “forcibly raping and groping” her after a new law went into effect in New York in November 2022 allowing alleged sexual assault victims a one-year window to sue their alleged abusers decades after the attacks.

“He went on the offensive. He made fun of her. Her attorney sought unspecified damages for “significant pain and suffering, lasting psychological and monetary harms, loss of dignity and self-respect, and invasion of her privacy.”

Thursday, a Chinese intermediate court denied the appeal of ‘wrongfully detained’ US citizen Mark Swidan and upheld his death sentence with a two-year suspended sentence, according to a State Department press release.

The United States stated that it will continue to advocate for Mark Swidan’s urgent release and return to the country, despite its disappointment with the Chinese court’s ruling.

The release quotes the Principal Deputy Spokesperson of the US Department of State, Vedant Patel, as saying, “Today, the People’s Republic of China’s Jiangmen Intermediate Court denied the appeal of wrongfully detained US national Mark Swidan and upheld his death sentence with a two-year suspended death sentence.”

According to Patel, the United States has frequently communicated with top Chinese officials about Swindan’s treatment and medical care, as well as “his inability to write or receive correspondence in a timely manner.”

We are dissatisfied with this decision and will continue to advocate for his urgent release and return to the United States. “US officials have repeatedly voiced their concerns to senior PRC officials regarding Mr. Swidan’s treatment, medical care, and inability to send or receive mail in a timely manner,” continued the official statement.

US President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken continue to focus on the release of Mark Swidan, according to a press release from the State Department.

The official release stated, “President Biden and Secretary Blinken continue to focus on the release of Mark Swidan and other US nationals who have been wrongfully detained or are being held hostage around the world.”

The UN Human Rights Council demanded that China take the “necessary remedy” and promptly release Swidan in 2020, according to The Hill, which cited the UN Human Rights Council.
