<p><span style="color: #212121; font-family: Lato Regular, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 18px;">During the fiscal year 2022-23, wind energy accounted for a sizable portion of the country&#8217;s total electricity generation at 71,814 MU.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #212121; font-family: Lato Regular, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 18px;">The minister responded in writing to a query in the Rajya Sabha, stating, &#8220;The installed wind energy generation capacity of the country was 43,773 MW, as of 30th June 2023.&#8221; In the fiscal year 2022–23, 71,814,000,000 MWh of electricity were produced in the country from wind power.</span></span></p>

<p><span style="color: #212121; font-family: Lato Regular, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 18px;">Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana were the leading wind energy producing States in 2022-23, he said.The minister reported that the ministry of new and renewable energy is trying to achieve 500 GW of installed electricity capacity from non-fossil sources by the year 2030, and that this goal includes wind energy capacity. This is in keeping with the prime minister&#8217;s announcement at COP26.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #212121; font-family: Lato Regular, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 18px;">The Central Electricity Authority predicts that by the end of 2029-30, the installed capacity of wind energy will have reached 99,895 MW, as stated in their &#8216;Report on Optimal Generation Capacity Mix for 2029-30 Version 2.0.</span></span></p>
