]]> Women’s Premier League:All eyes are on Mumbai despite the fact that the Women’s T20 World Cup is currently taking place in South Africa. Why not, then? Every way you look at it, Monday will be a historic day for women’s cricket — not just in India — as preparations are underway for the first player auctions for the BCCI’s Women’s Premier League. By the end of the day, several of the 409 players, including 246 Indian and 163 foreign players, are anticipated to be millionaires, making them among the highest-paid female athletes.

Diana Edulji, a former India captain, correctly describes the event as significant since it would propel female cricket players into the highest-paid group of athletes in the following years. No women’s league outside of the WPL has ever held an auction before, thus on Monday, the Women’s Premier League cricketers will do so for the first time in history.

Australians will top the roster of international players for the franchises, and they feature players like all-rounders Ashleigh Gardner and Ellyse Perry; Alyssa Healy; Tahlia McGrath; captain Meg Lanning; and Beth Mooney, the WBBL’s top scorer, among others.

Everyone keeps an eye on Sophie Ecclestone, the top left-arm spinner in women’s cricket, as well as her countrymen Nat Sciver-Brunt and captain Heather Knight. Suzie Bates and Sophie Devine from New Zealand are next, followed by Shabnim Ismail, Laura Wolvaardt, and Marizanne Kapp from South Africa.

The franchises will rely on data from domestic T20 tournaments in India, the Women’s Hundred, and the Women’s Big Bash League as they try to find the right combinations for the inaugural season, which will be played from March 4 to March 26 at the Brabourne and the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.
