Two private buses crashed early on Saturday in Maharashtra’s Buldhana district, killing five people, two of whom were women, and injuring 20 more, according to a police officer.
According to him, the incident happened at roughly 2.30 am during a flypast near the district’s Malkapur town.
One of the buses involved in the accident, according to the official, was travelling from the Amarnath Yatra to Hingoli, while the second private vehicle was headed in the direction of Nashik.
According to him, a collision occurred when a bus travelling in the direction of Nashik attempted to pass a truck and ultimately pulled out in front of the second vehicle.
The official reported that 20 people were hurt along with five fatalities, two of which were ladies.
After arriving at the scene, senior district police officers hurried the injured patients to a nearby hospital.
For some time after the collision, the route was congested, he said.
The state administration in Mumbai has suggested ending criminal penalties for unlicensed schools and, under specific circumstances, offering them official registration. Concerns exist, nevertheless, over the possible effects on government funding and student enrollment.
A significant traffic collision occurred late last night in Buldhana, Maharashtra, leaving six persons dead and 20 injured. Two buses collided head-on near Nandur Naka flyover on NH 53 in the Malkapur region at around 2.30 in the morning, according to the police.
According to officials, one of the buses, operated by Balaji Travels, was returning to Hingoli district from the Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage, and the other, operated by Royal Travels, was travelling to Nashik.
At Nandur Naka, one of the buses passed the other, and the two subsequently collided. Officials reported that six people had passed away. Another 20 or so injured people were brought into a hospital in Buldhana. At a nearby Gurudwara, 32 people who had minor injuries received first aid.
One of those killed was the bus driver returning from Amarnath.
The Highway Police reports that when the bus was taken off the road, traffic resumed.
This is the second significant bus accident to occur recently in the Buldhana district. On July 1, a bus carrying them caught fire on the Samruddhi-Mahamarg Motorway in the neighbourhood, killing at least 25 people, including three children, and injuring eight more.
At the time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his “deep sadness” over the lives lost.
Eknath Shinde, the chief minister, also expressed his sorrow over the incident and offered each family of those who died compensation of 5 lakh.
Earlier, on May 23, a bus and a truck crashed on the Nagpur-Pune highway in the Buldhana area, resulting in seven fatalities and 13 injuries.
