A 25-year-old woman in the United States died of a “massive” brain bleed immediately after giving birth to her second child.
According to Fox News, the incident occurred on March 7 earlier this month. Alona White and her husband Derrick arrived at the hospital for a scheduled C-section, and that afternoon, they welcomed their second daughter, Ari. Ms Alona’s mother, Katina Ponder, told the publication that her daughter was alright after giving birth and even had the opportunity to breastfeed her newborn.
Regarding her daughter, Mrs. Ponder stated, “She was excited.” She added, however, that her family went from “joyful to devastated.” Ms. Ponder disclosed that hours after giving birth, Ms. White complained of a headache and was already unresponsive when a nurse arrived at her room.
Ms. Ponder recalled that a CT scan revealed a significant hemorrhage on the left side of her cranium after the patient underwent a CT scan.

Ms. White was subsequently rushed to the hospital for an emergency craniotomy, a surgical procedure in which a bone fragment is temporarily removed from the cranium to gain access to the brain. The surgery landed her in the intensive care unit for five days before she passed away, according to her mother.

“She only had about an hour with [daughter Ari],” Ms. Ponder said, adding, “It’s so unjust that she was deprived of her life in such a way. I simply do not comprehend what occurred”.
Ms. Ponder added that she did not anticipate receiving a phone call informing her that her daughter had passed away. “She was 25 years old and perfectly healthy; I don’t know what happened,” she told the outlet.
Ms. White’s family is still awaiting autopsy results to ascertain the cause of her death. They have created a GoFundMe page to cover Ms. White’s funeral expenses and to assist her husband and daughters.
