Nithyananda’s purported country ‘Kailasa’ issued a statement today in response to US media reports alleging that over 30 US cities were duped by “United States of Kailasa” in a “sister-city” scam.
Nithyananda issued a press release on Twitter in response to a US reporter following the emergence of the “sister city” scam, in which he addressed hypotheses regarding Kailasa’s existence and allegations against him.
The statement read, “We are a revival of the ancient enlightened Hindu civilizational nation and operate through a group of United Nations-recognized NGOs operating in multiple countries around the globe.”

Q: Does Kailasa exist? If so, where is it located and how long has Kailasa been a nation?

Nithyanand stated, “Kailasa was founded in the spirit of a nation such as the Sovereign Order of Malta, which is a borderless, service-oriented nation.”
The Sovereign Order of Malta is one of the earliest institutions of Western and Christian civilisations, maintains diplomatic relations with over 110 countries, and has observer status at the United Nations.
Even though photographs and videos of Kailasa’s representatives at the United Nations meeting in Geneva went viral, they are not recognised by the international body.
The High Commissioner for Human Rights of the United Nations responded to Kailasa’s participation by stating that NGOs and the general public are permitted to register for such public events.
Nithyananda identifies himself as the “Reviver of Kailasa,” the “Supreme Pontiff of Hinduism,” and asserts that he has been initiated, trained, and consecrated by qualified traditional Hindu authorities.
According to the press release, “He was recognised as an incarnation in accordance with Hinduism at a young age, much like the Dalai Lama.”
Nithyananda is sought in India on multiple complaints of rape and sexual assault, which he has denied. Geoffrey Robertson, the world-renowned Queen’s Council from the United Kingdom, was cited in his statement alongside human rights advocates.
Nithyananda quoted Mr Robertson as saying, “The report about the “persecution” stems from the demonization of their leader and guru by the media and state government officials due to false sexual abuse allegations…amounting to an abuse of power.”

The self-proclaimed godman also asserted he was exonerated by a California court in 2013 and cited Article 18 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which states, “Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience, and religion.”
The fugitive accused of rape also claimed that a threat to his life necessitated his flight to a secure location.
