Amritpal Singh an ISI agent deployed to spread violence in India

Amritpal remained on the run till the time of going to print but 78 of his supporters were arrested in a statewide operation

Amritpal Singh, the leader of the Waris Punjab De and a Khalistani sympathizer, has close ties to the ISI, according to official sources on Saturday. He was instructed to recruit young Sikhs in order to destabilise the law and order situation in Punjab.

According to sources, Amritpal Singh had contact with the ISI in Dubai. It is believed that the ISI instructed him to motivate young Sikhs in the name of religion.

After returning to Punjab from Dubai, Amritpal initiated the Khalsa Waheer campaign and strengthened his organisation by visiting villages. He incited the Sikhs against the central government by stirring up Punjabi issues and inciting them against the province’s government.

According to the sources, he was effective in getting people to do what he wanted under the guise of religion, which allowed the ISI to carry out its plan in Punjab.In February of last year, Deep Sidhu, an actor and activist who founded Waris Punjab De, was killed in a car accident. Subsequently, Amritpal Singh assumed leadership of the organisation.

LINKS ABROAD

Amritpal is believed to be a close associate of the Khalistani terrorist based in the United Kingdom, Avtar Singh Khanda. Khanda is a trusted lieutenant of the commander of the outlawed Babbar Khalsa International, Paramjit Singh Pamma. According to a PTI report, Paramjit frequently holds theoretical training seminars for young Sikhs to radicalise them.

According to sources, the three conspirators sought to destabilise Punjab by radicalising young Sikhs.Khanda demonstrates online, from Birmingham and Glasgow, how to create improvised explosive devices using common compounds.

Amritpal Singh also has ties to the head of the International Sikh Youth Federation, Lakhbir Singh Rode. In India, Lakhbir Singh is sought for smuggling arms and explosives, conspiring to attack government leaders in New Delhi, and inciting hatred in Punjab.

Amritpal Singh and his supporters invaded the Ajnala Police Station with weapons last month. They demanded the release of one of his aides who had been apprehended for rioting.

Saturday, sources told India Today, Amritpal Singh was detained near Nakodar in Jalandhar. However, the Punjab Police has neither verified nor denied whether Singh has been captured.
