Melbourne:- According to media sources, a 22-year-old man of Indian descent has pled guilty to the murder of his ex-girlfriend in 2021 and to dumping her body in a shallow grave in the Flinders Ranges of South Australia. He committed these crimes in South Australia.
According to a report that was published by 9News on Tuesday, Tarikjot Singh was accused of kidnapping his former lover Jasmeen Kaur (21), who was a nursing student from India, and killing her in March of 2021.
On Tuesday, in South Australia’s Supreme Court, Singh, who had initially pleaded not guilty to the offence, changed his plea to one of admission.
It was reported by 7News that Singh was accused of following Jasmeen Kaur for several weeks prior to the time that he kidnapped her from her place of employment.
On the evening of March 5, 2021, Jasmeen Kaur was last seen, and her disappearance was discovered to be suspicious the next morning.
After several days, her body was discovered in the Flinders Ranges in a shallow burial, which is 430 kilometres away from Adelaide.
While attending school to become a nurse, Jasmeen Kaur supported herself by working as a care worker in Flinders Park, where she also shared a home with her aunt and uncle.
Outside of the courthouse, Jasmeen Kaur’s relatives expressed their satisfaction with the plea deal. “We are delighted she’ll get some justice,” Ramandeep Kharoud, Kaur’s aunt, was cited as saying by 7News. “Nothing will bring Jasmeen back, but we are pleased she’ll get some,”
According to the newspaper, Singh will have to appear in court again in April for a hearing on the directions of the case, and then in May, he will present his sentencing arguments.
