In an extraordinary narrative of survival, a Bolivian man claims he survived by consuming insects and worms for more than a month while stranded in the Amazon forest. On January 25, Jhonatan Acosta, 30, became separated from his hunting companions in northern Bolivia, according to a News Agencies report. Nearly a month later, search and rescue teams located him.
Following his rescue, Mr. Acosta described how he survived in the forest and the difficulties he endured. He stated that he survived by consuming worms, insects, and papaya-like natural fruits.
I prayed to God for rain. I would not have survived if it hadn’t rained,” he said. Mr. Acosta added that he kept himself hydrated by collecting rainfall in his rubber footwear. When the skies dried up, he was compelled to consume his own urine.
He also described his encounters with a jaguar and various other untamed animals and entities in the jungle.
After 31 days, he miraculously observed a search party 300 metres away and hobbled towards them while yelling for assistance. Finally, a party of four men located him.
Mr. Acosta had lost 17 kilogrammes, dislocated his ankle, and was dehydrated after 31 days in the jungle. Following the ordeal, he was transported to a health facility where his beard and hair were shorn.
He has resolved to cease hunting and devote his life to creating music for God.
“He will perform music to honour God. He made this promise to God, and I believe he will fulfil it “The younger sibling of the survivor, Horacio Acosta, stated.
In a comparable incident, a man from the Caribbean island of Dominica claimed he ate ketchup to survive 24 days at sea before being rescued in Colombian waters.
“I had no sustenance. There was only a bottle of ketchup, garlic powder, and Maggi on the boat. So I combined it with water so I could survive 24 days at sea “Elvis Francois, 47, said in English in a Colombian Navy-produced video.
