Atiq Ahmed, a gangster-turned-politician, will be brought before a court in Prayagraj on Tuesday in connection with the 2006 hijacking of Umesh Pal, a witness in the murder case of BSP MLA Raju Pal. Umesh Pal was murdered last month in an attack allegedly orchestrated by Atiq Ahmed and Raju Pal.
Also anticipated to be announced during the day is the verdict.Following the police cavalcade that brought Atiq Ahmed out of the Sabarmati Jail in Ahmedabad at 5:30 p.m. were vehicles carrying television crews, his sister Ayesha Noori, and attorneys.
Khalid Azim alias Ashraf, the gangster’s sibling, was also brought to the Naini Central Jail in Prayagraj on Monday.
HIGH SECURITY FOR UMESH PAL CASE HEARING
In preparation for Tuesday’s hearing in the Umesh Pal kidnapping case, stringent security measures have been implemented and police have been stationed along the route from the Prayagraj prison to the court.
Inside the courthouse, police officers have been assigned to the courtroom where Atiq Ahmed will appear today.According to information obtained by India Today, 300 police officers, including the inspector chief constable and SPs, have been assigned to provide security.
The on-duty police officers have been instructed to remain vigilant and vigilant from the moment the court proceeding begins until the accused are taken out of court.CCTV cameras have been installed on the courthouse grounds, enabling police to monitor the accused.
SPECIAL CAMERA AT ATIQ’S CELL IN PRAYAGRAJ JAIL
Throughout the night, authorities at Prayagraj’s Naini Central Jail maintained a close watch on Atiq Ahmed.CCTV cameras on the prison grounds were also used to keep a close eye on Atiq Ahmed’s sibling and one other suspect in the case by prison officials.
The three accused have been placed in separate quarters, and Atiq Ahmed’s barrack has its own CCTV camera.As soon as Atiq Ahmed was brought to Prayagraj on Monday, he underwent a medical examination.The three accused were served meals in accordance with the prison manual.
THE PROSECUTION OF ATIQ AHMED
Following the murder of BSP MLA Raju Pal on January 25, 2005, Umesh Pal, who was a member of the zila panchayat at the time, told police he was a witness.
Umesh asserted that he was abducted at gunpoint on February 28, 2006, after he refused to retract and cave in to Atiq Ahmed’s pressure. The FIR was filed against Atiq, his sibling Ashraf, and four unidentified individuals on July 5, 2007. The charge document listed eleven defendants.

Atiq Ahmed, a former Phulpur MP for the Samajwadi Party, was transferred to the Sabarmati Central Jail in Gujarat in June 2019, per a Supreme Court order, after being accused of masterminding the kidnapping and assault of real estate magnate Mohit Jaiswal while he was incarcerated in Uttar Pradesh.
He is named in over a hundred criminal cases, including the homicide of Umesh Pal, according to police.
