‘Because Adani?’: 3 things Rahul Gandhi said in reply to Delhi Police

Rahul Gandhi on Sunday submitted a four-page preliminary reply to the Delhi police, stating that he will give a “detailed response in the next 8-10 days”.

Rahul Gandhi, the Congress MP, on Sunday submitted a four-page preliminary reply, stating that he will give a “detailed response in the next 8-10 days,” hours after the Delhi police visited his home in search of information regarding the “sexual harassment” victims he mentioned during the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Srinagar.

Gandhi referred to the Delhi police’s action as “unprecedented” in his 10-point response and posed three queries. First of all, he expressed his hope that it had “nothing to do with the stance he took in Parliament and outside on various issues, including the Adani case,” according to sources cited by news organisations.

Gandhi also questioned the “urgency of Delhi police in making the visits after an initial gap of over 45 days” following his comments on January 30. Third, he questioned if “any other political party (including the ruling BJP), was ever asked similar questions over their political campaigns”.

According to ANI, the Delhi police stated that despite receiving the preliminary response, Gandhi did not provide any information that could advance the probe.

A Delhi police squad, led by Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Sagar Preet Hooda, had earlier in the day visited Rahul Gandhi at his home at 12, Tughlaq Lane to question him about his remark. They stayed there for more than two hours.

Gandhi said, “I have heard that women are still being sexually assaulted,” during the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Since the Yatra passed through Delhi, the police are trying to determine if any victims contacted the Congress MP to start an investigation into the incident. According to officials, the police requested information from Gandhi regarding the victims so that security could be given for them.

Following the Delhi police’s visit to the Wayanad MP, the Congress lashed out at the in power BJP. Millions of women now have a secure place to stroll around, express their concerns, and share their pain thanks to Rahul Gandhi and the Bharat Jodo Yatra. The poor showmanship of the Delhi Police demonstrates how alarmed Mr. Modi is by our Adani inquiries. Our resolve to find solutions is strengthened by this harassment, the Congress posted from their official account.
