Biden Cancerous Skin Lesion Removed: The skin lesion that was removed from President Joseph Biden’s chest last month was a basal cell carcinoma, a common form of skin cancer, his physician said on March 3, 2023, adding that no further treatment was necessary.
Kevin O’Connor, the White House physician who has long served as Mr. Biden’s physician, stated on February 16 that “all cancerous tissue was effectively removed” during the President’s annual physical. The removal site on Mr. Biden’s chest has “healed beautifully,” according to Dr. O’Connor, and the President will continue to undergo regular skin screenings as part of his routine health plan.
Basal cells are one of the most prevalent and treatable forms of cancer, particularly when detected early. Dr. O’Connor stated that they do not tend to disseminate like other cancers, but could grow in size, hence their removal.
Dr. O’Connor stated in his February 16 summary of the President’s health that Mr. Biden had “several localised non-melanoma skin cancers” removed from his body before he began his presidency, observing that Mr. Biden spent a lot of time in the sun during his youth.
Jill Biden had two basal cell lesions removed from her right eye and thorax in January. She said in an Associated Press interview last week that she’s now “extra careful” about sunscreen, particularly when she’s at the beach.
