Bihar Police in the Vaishali district of Bihar’s Vaishali district announced on Friday that approximately 17 cartons of alcoholic beverages were recovered from a pond in the Harpur village. Suresh Prasad Chowdhary, who is in charge of the police station in Vaishali, stated that a police report will be filed in this matter. Special liquor was brought from Haryana for Holi celebrations, according to the police. “The liquor mafia has become active in the Vaishali district in preparation for Holi, and they are employing a variety of strategies to deceive the police.
“However, the excise department team was successful in recovering liquor worth lakhs of rupees hidden in a fish pond. In fact, the excise department team had received secret information that a large quantity of foreign liquor had been hidden underwater in a pond located in Harpur village of Mahua police station area so that it could be consumed during Holi,” he added.

Even though no businessmen have been arrested in this operation, the Excise Department has foiled the liquor mafia’s plans. “More than 150 litres of liquor have been recovered; the seized liquor is from Haryana and is labelled “Holi special.” Immediate action will be taken by identifying the individuals responsible for concealing the liquor.

Notably, alcohol has been prohibited in Bihar with severe penalties since April 2016.
