BJP Appoints New State Chiefs For Rajasthan, Bihar, Delhi And Odisha

The BJP on Thursday appointed Lok Sabha MP CP Joshi and MLC Samrat Choudhary its president of Rajasthan and Bihar state units respectively.

BJP Appoints New State Chiefs: Today, the BJP appointed four new state chiefs, including Lok Sabha member C P Joshi in Rajasthan and OBC leader and MLC Samrat Choudhary in Bihar, as the party seeks to strengthen its organisational mechanism in preparation for crucial state and national elections.

Manmohan Samal, a former state minister, was appointed by BJP president J. P. Nadda as the head of the party’s Odisha chapter, while Delhi working president Virendra Sachdeva was elevated to the position of chief.

Mr. Choudhary, whose standing within the BJP has consistently risen since he joined in 2018, is the party’s leader in the Bihar legislative council and is a member of the politically significant Kushwaha community. He succeeded Sanjay Jaiswal as the leader of the Bihar BJP.

Mr Joshi (47) will replace Satish Poonia, an MLA from Jaipur’s Amber constituency, and follows the recent retirement of veteran Rajasthan BJP leader Gulab Chand Kataria, who was appointed governor of Assam.Joshi, who has a Brahmin visage, is a second-term representative from the Chittorgarh Lok Sabha constituency.

Mr. Poonia, like Mr. Kataria, did not have the greatest relationship with former chief minister Vasundhara Raje, who remains the state’s most formidable BJP leader. There are indications that relations between them have improved despite the central leadership of the party’s initial reservations about her.

The state governed by the Congress will hold assembly elections later this year.According to BJP sources, the terms of the state presidents had expired.

Mr. Samal, a former member of parliament, is one of the more well-known BJP candidates from Odisha, and political observers believe he will carry more weight than his predecessor, Samir Mohanty. They added that he is aggressive and his politics bore a distinct Hindutva stamp. He had previously served as the state’s BJP leader.
