Attacking the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government, the Tamil Nadu chief of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) K Annamalai on Monday demanded a CBI probe into the Tirupur clash.

Referring to the alleged altercation in Tirupur, the state leader of the BJP described the incident as “unfortunate.”

Why did the police not intervene when a tragic event occurred in Tirupur as a result of politics based on hatred?

Annamalai demanded a CBI investigation into the matter, alleging that the investigation had lagged behind schedule.

“What caused the investigation to be delayed? Do the police officials, DMK, and chief minister of Tamil Nadu have any connection to this incident? “The CBI should investigate who postponed the investigation in this case,” he said.

In his statement, he also inquired, “Why DGP did not investigate Thirupur after the specific incident? What was Intelligence’s purpose in Thirupur?

Annamalai stated that the BJP will always promote national integrity and harmony without division.

The panic had a negative impact on the industries in Tamil Nadu that rely on migrant workers, as many workers remained home.

Tamil Nadu’s Director General of Police Sylendra Babu issued a statement in response to the hysteria, claiming that the video circulating on social media was “false” and “mischievous.”

“Someone in Bihar uploaded false and malicious videos claiming that migrant workers in Tamil Nadu were attacked. There are two videos posted. Both are erroneous, as these events occurred in Tiruppur and Coimbatore at an earlier time. “One was a clash between two groups of migrant labourers from Bihar, and the other was between two locals in Coimbatore,” the chief of police explained.

In January, a video of a group of individuals battling went viral. The incident occurred on January 14, but the video alleging that Tamil workers were attacked by migrant labourers went viral on January 26.

After that, numerous social media posts alleged that the videos depicted a conflict between migrant workers and Tamil workers.

As a result of the issue’s escalation, on January 27, Tirupur Police issued the following statement: “While no one has filed a complaint with Police. We have launched a thorough investigation into the incident and will take appropriate action against those implicated.”

Meanwhile, on January 30, another official release from Tirupur Police stated, “Two individuals were arrested in connection with the January 14 incident after the viral video went viral, and they have been placed in judicial custody. Teams have been formed to make more arrests in relation to this incident.

The police in Tirupur also issued a warning against the dissemination of false information and rumours on social media regarding this issue.
