An official reported that two Naxalites, including a woman, were killed in an encounter with police in the Sukma district of Chhattisgarh on Monday morning.
He reported that a cache of explosives and an automatic weapon were recovered from the site of the encounter.
The gunfight occurred in a forest near the village of Danteshpuram within the jurisdiction of the Bheji police station when a team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) was conducting an anti-Naxal operation, according to Sukma Superintendent of Police Sunil Sharma.
According to him, the gunfight broke out after the Naxalites opened fire on the DRG’s patrolling squad.
The official stated that the corpses of two Naxalites were recovered from the scene following the cessation of gunfire.
He identified them as Madkam Erra, the active commander of the Golapalli Local Organisation Squad (LOS), and Madkam Bhime, the squad’s deputy commander.

Erra and Bhime had respective rewards of Rs 8 lakh and Rs 3 lakh on their heads, according to the official.
