There is little hope of cooperation between the two countries at the cultural level. Trump-Biden did not get such honor

The phase the US-Saudi relationship is going through can be gauged from the fact that Crown Prince Salman had made it clear in front of Biden that Saudi Arabia is reducing oil production by 2%. America was very upset about this. Saudi is an important country of OPEC, a group of oil producing countries.

Last month, the Saudi government also reduced crude oil production by 2%, ignoring American warnings. Now the meaning of Jinping’s visit is that the Saudi Arabian government is looking towards China as an alternative.

The new Saudi is the new Gulf

Last year, Saudi exported $50 billion to China. This is 18% of Saudi’s total exports. This figure is going to grow very fast. When Barack Obama signed the nuclear deal with Iran in 2016, Saudi advice was ignored. Now Russia has also come along with China and this is a new headache for America. America has also put a hold on giving F-35 to Saudi for the time being. There is more resentment than this.
America’s biggest fear is that China’s infamous electronics company Hubei might not get the contract of 5G network in Saudi and Gulf countries. If this happens, it will be easier to spy on American bases in the Gulf.

Relief to the Crown Prince

The White House said on November 18 that the US had granted immunity to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in the Khashoggi murder case. He will not be prosecuted in this case. When the decision was criticized, the US State Department said that this is not the first time that a head of state has been given some kind of exemption.
The White House had also said – President Joe Biden is re-thinking the relationship between the US and Saudi Arabia. This is because the Organization of Crude Oil Producing Countries (OPEC) decided to cut oil production on 5 October. America is very upset because of this. Saudi Arabia is a prominent member of this group.

Last year, a US report claimed that the plan to assassinate Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi of the Washington Post was approved by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The report also stated that the crown prince considered Khashoggi a threat to Saudi Arabia.
