It was the capital of Mewar. It takes up 180 m (590.6 ft) of height and 280 ha (691.9 acres) of land on a hill above the fields of the Berach River valley. In 2013, the Hill Forts of Rajasthan, which include Chittorgarh Fort, were named a UNESCO World Heritage Site at the 37th sitting of the World Heritage Committee in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
