The Bhagavad Gita dispute

Since the 21st of July, when Oppenheimer was released, a segment of Indian viewers have been referencing a particular scene. Cillian Murphy’s J. Robert Oppenheimer has sex with psychologist Jean Tatlock (Florence Pugh) while she requests him to read a Sanskrit verse from a book whose title and cover are not visible. Oppenheimer, confused by Jean’s insistence, reads the verse she indicates: “Now, I am Death, destroyer of the world.”

Anurag Thakur protests the occurrence.

According to ANI sources, Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur has adopted a firm stance on the contentious incident. In response to the objectionable scene, the minister has demanded utter accountability from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

The minister has ordered the filmmakers to immediately eliminate the controversial scene. According to ANI’s sources, he has also warned that all CBFC members who approved the screening of the film will face severe punishment.

Oh, about the controversy surrounding the sex scene and the Bhagavad Gita… errr…so many five-star hotels have copies of The Bhagavad Gita and the Bible in every room.
