Tuesday, the president of the Congress, Mallikarjun Kharge, stated that his party is not interested in the position of prime minister, but rather in preserving the concept of India, the Constitution, secularism, and democracy.
Kharge, addressing the second conference of the Opposition parties in an effort to forge a common platform to challenge the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prior to the national elections of 2024, stated that there are differences between them at the state level. He added that the differences can be set aside for the protection of the populace.
“We have no intention of seizing power for ourselves. He stated this at the outset of the meeting. “There are some distinctions between us at the state level. However, these differences are not so great that they cannot be overcome for the benefit of individuals who are experiencing inflation. We can put aside our differences for the sake of the unemployed youth, the impoverished, the Dalit, the tribals, and the minorities whose rights are being violated.”

Kharge stated that the 26 parties present at the meeting possess considerable political influence as they govern eleven states. He emphasised the significance of alliances. “The BJP did not win 303 seats on its own in the 2019 election. It used the ballots of its allies to gain power, and then cast them aside, he stated. Today, the BJP’s president and leaders are travelling from state to state to mend fences with former allies.
