Delhi Budget 2023: Focus On Infrastructure, Waste Management | 10 Points

With an aim of a “clean, beautiful and modern” Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party government has allocated ₹ 19,466 crore for the upgradation of roads.

Delhi Budget 2023: The Delhi government has proposed a budget of 78,800 crores, with a focus on infrastructure, education, and health. The Tuesday presentation was postponed due to a dispute between the Central government and the AAP government.

Here are the ten most important Delhi Budget 2023 announcements:

  • For the purpose of creating a “clean, beautiful, and modern” Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party government has allotted 19,466 crore for road improvement. In the next ten years, roughly 1,400 kilometres of roads in Delhi would be upgraded under this plan.
  • The government has allocated 2,034 crore for various infrastructure initiatives in 2023-24.
  • The minister of finance, Kailash Gahlot, stated that 26 new flyovers will be constructed shortly. 10 of the 26 projects are currently under construction, while the plans for the remaining 11 have been submitted for approval.
  • Additionally, the AAP government intends to construct three interstate bus terminals of world-class quality and acquire 1,600 new electric buses. The transport sector has been allocated 9,333 crores.
  • Mr. Gahlot stated that cleaning Yamuna and the three refuse mounds in the national capital region would receive special attention. In the budget, he detailed a six-step plan to clear the Yamuna.
  • The three Delhi landfills will be removed within two years, according to the minister. Local governments will receive financial assistance totaling 8,241 crore during the fiscal year 2023–24.
  • The Delhi budget has allocated Rs 9,742 crore for healthcare. Mr. Gahlot stated that nine new government institutions are currently under construction, and four will be operational by the end of the year.
  • In government-run Mohalla clinics in Delhi, 450 exams are now free of charge. Historically, this figure was 250. In addition, the Delhi government will establish new Mohalla clinics in metro stations.
  • The government has allocated 16,500 billion for education, an increase of 200 billion from the previous year.
  • Mr. Gahlot stated in his speech that 350 government schools in Delhi will receive 20 computers each, and that all instructors, principals, and vice-principals will receive tablets.
