Delhi budget session from March 17,Gahlot to present budget on March 21

The Budget session of the Delhi Assembly will commence from March 17 without the presence of AAP senior leader Manish Sisodia, who was arrested a week ago by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case.

Delhi budget session: Officials announced on Sunday that theDelhi budget session of the Delhi Assembly will begin on March 17 and the budget will be presented on March 21. This will be the first time since the AAP came to power in Delhi in 2015 that senior party leader and former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, who held the finance portfolio, will not present the budget.

This year’s budget will be presented by Revenue Minister Kailash Gahlot, who has been given control of the finance ministry following Sisodia’s arrest in the excise policy case on February 26 and his subsequent resignation from the cabinet.

Following his appointment to the finance portfolio, Gahlot has held multiple meetings with ministry officials. Prior to Sisodia’s detention, Gahlot participated in budget-related meetings.An official stated that the budget session of the Delhi Assembly will begin on March 17 and the budget will be presented on March 21.

The session will commence with an address from Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena.Sisodia presented the budget for 2022-23 on March 26, 2017. It was a Rs 75,800-billion budget with a five-year plan to create 20 lakh jobs via initiatives such as a new electronic city and promotion of the night economy to promote business and trade activities.

A Delhi court extended Sisodia’s CBI confinement by two days on Saturday, allowing the investigation agency to confront him with material witnesses.
