Washington: Richard Nixon, Kim Jong Un, and Oprah Winfrey, among others, are sending letters to Donald Trump, the former US president and his publisher announced Thursday.
The “Letters to Trump” collection contains “extraordinary and frequently private” correspondence between Donald Trump and foreign leaders, media figures, athletes, and business executives.
“What connects presidents, royals, celebrities, and business titans? Everyone adores Donald Trump “Sergio Gor, the proprietor of Winning Team Publishing, said in a statement to AFP.
“Donald Trump led an extraordinary existence well before he entered politics. We are delighted to be able to share ‘Letters to Trump’ with our readers, as no other book highlights his iconic relationships as well.”
The forthcoming book encompasses four decades of correspondence and reveals that in 2000, Oprah Winfrey told the now-76-year-old Republican leader: “Unfortunately, we are not running for office. What a group!”
The TV entrepreneur had written to the presidential candidate Donald Trump after receiving an excerpt from his book “The America We Deserve” in which he described her as his ideal running mate.
According to the US politics website Axios, Oprah Winfrey, 69, told Donald Trump that his remarks made her “a little emotional.”
“It’s one thing to strive to live a life of integrity; it’s something else entirely to have people like yourself notice,” she reportedly exclaims.
– “Outstanding letters” –
According to Axios, each letter is accompanied by commentary from Donald Trump, who describes Oprah Winfrey as “wonderful” but laments that “she never spoke to me again” after he announced his presidential campaign in 2015.
At a time when he was a more glamorous, less divisive figure as a real estate magnate and reality television personality in Manhattan, the billionaire hand-selected many of the letters from fellow pop culture luminaries.
Michael Jackson, Clint Eastwood, and Shaquille O’Neal are prominent figures in the 320-page hardcover, as is Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away in September of last year.
Other letters are from former presidents Nixon, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama. There is also correspondence with China’s President Xi Jinping and North Korea’s Kim that has never been seen before.
In one of his more eccentric moments, the ex-president famously told a rally that he and North Korea’s authoritarian leader “fall in love” as a result of Donald Trump’s interactions with Kim Jong-un.
Kim Jong Un’s communications were among a cache of confidential government documents discovered in Donald Trump’s Florida residence last year. Trump is accused of stealing the documents from the White House, which prompted an FBI raid and an ongoing criminal investigation.

On April 25, “Letters from Trump” will be available for a staggering $99, or $399 for a signed copy.
Thursday on his microblogging platform Truth Social, Donald Trump referred to the compilation as “the most extraordinary letters I’ve received over the years.”
Last year, Winning Team Publishing, co-founded by Trump’s eldest son Donald Trump Jr., published the Republican firebrand’s coffee-table photo book, “Our Journey Together,” which grossed approximately $20 million.
