Monday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar files his nomination papers in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) previously announced the schedule for the July 24 election of 10 Rajya Sabha seats in Goa, Gujarat, and West Bengal.
In July and August, ten members from these states are scheduled to retire.
According to the EC, the nomination deadline for the vacant RS seats is July 13.
The vote tally will be conducted on July 24.
On August 18, elections will be held for three Rajya Sabha seats in Gujarat, as incumbents Dineshchandra Jemalbhai Anavadiya, Lokhandwala Jugalsinh Mathurji, and Subrahmanyam Jaishankar Krishnaswamy retire.

Jaishankar was appointed to the Union Cabinet in 2019 after being elected to the Rajya Sabha from Gujarat.
