KOLKATA:The fire that broke out at the Kolkata airport on Wednesday night began in a small chamber where airlines store various stationery items, according to the airport’s director C Pattabhi.
Thursday, he told the media that an investigation has already begun to determine the exact cause of the fire.
“Airlines use the small room where the fire started to store various stationery items related to the flight departure process,” he explained.
Pattabhi stated that while there were no issues with the operations of incoming flights, some flights that were about to depart were delayed due to the fire.
Wednesday at 9:12 p.m., a fire broke out at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, causing chaos and distress among passengers. The fire was extinguished at 9:40 p.m., and check-in services resumed at 10:25 p.m., according to officials.
They stated that no one was injured in the incident.
According to sources, a preliminary report on the incident has already been sent to the relevant agencies.

Earlier, West Bengal Fire Services Minister Sujit Bose told media, “It appears that a problem with the air conditioning system caused the fire.”
According to officials, 13 flights were delayed due to the incident.
